  1. July or August would be good, since I will be putting in major efforts just before then, during the months of April, May and June
  2. Thurs, OCT 3: I will be there with LW Germans and Americans, 100 pts
  3. I am looking for a volunteer to run 2-3 Saturday events in one month of 2020. The locations can vary. The rules and themes can be chosen from the Battlefront selection of rules and periods. I looked at the ambitious schedule that we should run in 2020, where I am running/organizing/driving events on 2-3 Saturdays each month. This includes learn-to-Play sessions, at least 1 mini-campaign, 2 tournaments and several special events. I decided that I should take off one month to keep from being burned out. Therefore, I am looking for a volunteer to organize and lead 2-3 Saturday events in the same month of 2020 so that I can take that time off from those responsibilities. The Host/GM determines the type of event, rule set, theme and forces. Might include scenarios. Does not have to be a large event. Events could be as small as one table with two players and the GM. Hosting assumes that you have the miniatures and books to support two opposing armies in the event, to loan models to either new players or veterans who don't have the relevant forces. Hosting also may require you to tutor one or more players. The location should be a local (Portland/Vancouver/Oregon City) game store with tables that can be reserved for miniature battles. If the store does not have sufficient terrain, then the GM will have to provide enough terrain for the tables they are hosting. Pick from these rule sets: Flames of War v4 Team Yankee v2 (includes Oil War) Fate of a Nation Great War 'Nam (is a possibility, but is less popular than the previous 4 rules/themes.) I am happy to do the scheduling and promo on Ordo, RCDD blog, RCDD Meetup and RCDD Facebook If you are interested, then send PM to barca, or respond below. If no one steps up by NOV 10 (the day after our TANKS-giving event), then I will leave a 3-4 week hole in our 2020 schedule.
  4. Updated the Halloween special: SAT October 26 (4th SAT) - Halloween Double Feature: Zombies!!! (2-6 players) + Last Night on Earth: The Zombie Game (2-6 players) Meetup Group for signup
  5. Changed start time from "12PM" to read "11:30AM"
  6. NW. I changed it to "FoW LW Western Front Featuring the new D-Day German Book " I won't be able to field forces for FOAN or Great War for a while, so I change those themes.
  7. During January and February of 2020, join us as we play through this narrative campaign system for Flames of War: "Bloody Omaha Ace Campaign" It blends your 3-D tabletop battles with RPG aspects for your hero. The campaign includes linked missions to tell the story of your journey through the Normandy Battlefields. Story Cards describe the main missions you play. They provide the narrative that connects all the missions to the story. How your battle ends determines the next step of your journey. Players can earn rewards they will use in later missions. Ace cards allow players to create a hero for their campaign. That hero will grow in abilities as you play through the campaign, giving the game a strong RPG feel. If you've never played Flames of War before, or not in a while, we can loan you a force and get you into the action, leading your tanks or infantry to victory. The campaign map, narratives and rankings will be posted to our Club's Blog: Rose City Dukes and Duchesses In December, we will post a blog link to the instructions, including how you can participate remotely if you cannot get to Guardian Games or Oregon City Geeks and Games. Our regular Thursday evening sessions at Guardian Games (6-10 PM) (see GG calendar) during JAN & FEB, can include missions in this campaign. 8. THE CHALLENGE: Write a more compelling ad-copy that will draw in more players to our TEAM YANKEE events. In less than 200 words, can you write something more exciting than description #1 or #2, below? Submit your entries (on this thread) by noon on Friday, OCT 4. Winner gets a $10.00 gift cert from barca for shopping at Oregon City Geeks and Games, delivered during the TANKS-giving event (NOV 9) CURRENT AD-COPY for TEAM YANKEE : DESCRIPTION #1: Team Yankee Learn-to-Play: It’s 1985 and the European nations of NATO stands ready with 10,000 tanks to resist an attack by 40,000 Warsaw Pact Tanks. It was a war that didn't happen...but what if it did? Team Yankee is a tabletop miniatures game that puts you in a modern tank, commanding miniature forces in a 3-D landscape. The game models this alternative war as seen from US Army Captain Sean Bannon’s tank, in command of Team Yankee. You could take the role of Colonel Yuri Potecknov, in command of Soviet Tanks and Motorized Rifle troops. With action that is fast and furious, lead your tanks, helicopters and jets into battle. Defeat and death are as close as victory. Our game masters will teach you the game and loan you forces. They will lead you through a commander's boot camp that catapults you into an alternative reality that you (and your dice) control. Become a TANK ACE and win a painted tank! Join us on the 1st Saturday of MARCH, MAY and DECEMBER from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM at Guardian Games. Team Yankee Battles: Join us for intense battles of modern armored combat. You command tabletop miniature armies in a 3-D battlefield. With action that is rapid and immersive, lead your model tanks, missiles, helicopters and jets into a fast-paced battle. Jump into an alternative reality where you role-play the characters in the novels “Team Yankee” or “Red Storm Rising”. Join us on the 1st Saturday of MARCH, MAY and DECEMBER from 1:30 to 5:00 PM at Guardian Games. DESCRIPTION #2: Team Yankee and Oil War TEAM YANKEE Team Yankee is a book by Harold Coyle in 1987 about a fictitious Soviet attack into Germany from the viewpoint of Captain Bannon commanding Team Yankee, an Armor-heavy Combat Team in the US Army. It’s also a stand-alone game released by Battlefront, covering the forces of NATO: USA, United Kingdom, West Germany, France, Canada, the Netherlands and Australian forces in Europe. Representing the Warsaw Pact are: the USSR, East Germany, Poland and Czechoslovakia. Advance your tanks through a lethal battlefield while attack aircraft fly overhead, and missiles deliver destruction across your tabletop. OIL WAR In the Middle East, Iran and Iraq had been locked in a conflict across their border since 1980 and looked unlikely to stop anytime soon. Further west, Israel and Syria had come to blows in Lebanon as Israel fought PLO forces operating from inside their northern neighbor. The oil rich region, already rife with conflict and tension, is drawn into World War III as the Soviet Union and US led NATO set about protecting their interests to control the flow of oil. Role-play Armored juggernauts seeking out their prey, from Israel, Syria, Iran and Iraq, backed by US or Soviet forces, as helicopters hunt tanks and jets streak across your tabletop.

Patton, Montgomery and Eisenhower are poised to liberate France. The Axis forces, under Rommel and other German leaders order their panzers to drive the Allies back into the sea. As the Allies, can you recreate history? As the Germans, can you play out a different reality? Flames of War puts you in command of tabletop miniature armies in a 3-D landscape. We also recreate combat clashes on the sands of North Africa and on the rolling steppes of Russia. With action that is fast and furious, lead your tanks, soldiers and airplanes into battle. Defeat and death are as close as victory. Our game masters will teach you the game and loan you forces. They will lead you through a commander's boot camp that catapults you into an alternative reality that you (and your dice) control. Become a TANK ACE and win a painted tank! 20. BTW, also planning a D-Day mega battle on SAT, the 6th of June, 2020: 5 tables, 4 forces 2 beaches (1 Amer and 1 Brit or Canadian), 1 airborne table, 1 inland panzer counterattack table* + 1 staging table for the many models. *We will compress the timeline on one table to include a German armored counterattack. See "Stopping The Panzers" by Marc Milner. That way, the Germans can do something other than defend.
