My dislike of Super heavies in normal games of 40K remains unabated, but It is what it is.  So i will have to deal with them.

If they are insisting on including these in normal games of 40K they had better give every single faction a REASONABLE way to counter it without dictating an entire list to it.  If we end up in the "Guess i gotta take nothing but meltas" scenario, then we are right back where we started.  How annoying is that?  Unfortunately super heavies encourage, if not actually require, mono-builds.  There's no other way to handle them BUT super high STR weapons, and now you will be forced to say "the hell with Storm Bolters and Flamers, there's five F'ing Knights on the field".  I'm not wrong.  You aren't going to sell me on the idea that massed bolters should be enough.  Lol.  They will shoot and walk through normal soldiers until the cows come home.  Fishing for 6's isn't a "strategy".

T8 is insane on a model with that many wounds.  Did they learn nothing from WraithKnights?  Apparently not.  Frankie and Reece must have forgotten to mention it to them.

My reaction to this was never going to be positive to begin with, but I didn't foresee them giving it T8.  That surprises me and disappoints me. :(

I think you're being a bit over dramatic. This edition changed some thing but at the heart of things its still the same ball game. A balanced force prepared for anything will win out in the end. Mind you I haven't deviated from my standard build structure for almost two editions now and I play what might be called a odd-ball style IG army. Hell I took on a Baronial Court once. My two super heavies contributed mostly as distractions. The real heroes were my standard line tanks and HWTs.

  2. So In my mad quest to forge a AoS(& 40k) player base for Red Castle I've come up with a special event for the 24th. Trouble is I'm going to need help to pull it off as undead of my own/ I need a wopping 400 zombies and/or skeletons and a model to represent The Mad Necromancer Japino. A very big thanks to Pyre Warden. Hes already volunteered his 100 zombies.

  3. Ish is a cheeky bugger dead on as far as I can tell. The few games I've played have seen folks hashing out how they would measure distances before hand to ensure things were clear. If your looking to get a friendly game in I'll be happy to throw down with your bone boys. Same to you Ish. Rematch time.

  4. Just a heads up. This month is going to have a special focus on Age of Sigmar. Shadow War and 40k are still welcome of course. Also I'm going to be holding a painting contest for fantasy and AoS this month. There will be two prizes, Best in Show and Peer's Choice. The names should be self explanatory. Entries are due by the 24th.

  5. Rainy Day's Shadow Wars league came to an end today. I Came in 1st with 23 promethium caches but in a stroke of cosmic irony I am tied with my arch nemesis'. Indeed at the end of the day those vilely colorful Harlequins of Commander Skittle's Merry Troupe had purloined 23 promethium caches for themselves. How this will be resolved remains to be seen. One thing I do know is I don't look forward to tangling with Skittles again. He left poor Cpl. Marlow* with a crippling fear of balloon animals and tights. That boy just ain't been right since we found him wandering the sprawl smeared with blood and grease paint.

I would have to have 1500 points to play at that level... Oh and the 7th edition rules and stuff.

Once I get 1500 and 8th drops we can play ^_^

Well feel free to drop by on Saturday anyway. We usually have a table open for painting and my buddy who plays Tau & paints like a pro should be there to offer some advice if you need it.

    *cough* Portland Game Store *cough*

I am going to be setting up a night if I can there. They have alcohol on tap, not a huge environment, friendly, clean, and fun. Oh and I am restarting 40k with Tau! (not for tournaments but for the suits... Oh and the battle damage!)

Sir I offer you a invitation and a challenge, 1500 points at Red Castle Games. Your first drink is on me if you win.

  8. By The Throne revenge is great. My sole survivor was rescued* from his captor(s). This resulted in a crater and left my guardsman free to chew through his bindings and scamper home. Reinforcements were there waiting. I'm back on top and far wiser**.

  9. I was unaware of the fee to join the league when I agreed to play against someones Orks I and was going to sign up afterwards. Although I cannot afford the buy in I'd like for the fight to be counted for my opponent at least. The win was earned and I feel it should be counted.
