Awesome! I've heard great things but never given the rules a go, I'll track them down and see about updating my forces!
What is the typical points value that people are playing at? still 2500pt?

It's been a long while since I've had enough time off to play warhammer, about a year to be exact. Last summer when I was in the shop, 8th Ed fantasy was still being played, and a few folks were trying out 2nd ed kings of war. A lot can happen in a year, and I was wondering what the fantasy meta game looks like these days? Are people still playing 8th? Is 9th age being played? Has kings of war taken over? Or has age of sigmar consumed the world (of warhammer)?

Well that's three then, plus me.
Maybe we can also do a multiplayer game of Warlands?
high-octane, multiplayer chaos and destruction? what's not to love!
-
I'd be up for trying DinoProof, I'm also looking for a game of kings of war, or perhaps 8th ed fantasy.

As much as I love the idea of sending dozens of nameless peasants to their respective dooms, I really dig the feel and character of the Mordheim warband.
Once or twice a month works well for me, and it'd be nice to do it as a relaxed, not so serious game. I've never been one for intense competition, and I would much rather have fun with a story, than to torture ourselves with a complex system of competition.

I could probably play a few friday games, but in general tuesdays work better.

very much down, have only played twice before, would def need a refresher on the rules. but the undead will roam the streets of the shattered city for sure!

I'm playing KoW with Gabe, and will also bring some Frostgrave. Maybe Infinity, too.
5:30, right?

It's been a long time coming, but I've finally worked up the energy to get rid of the eclectic collection of Space Marines and Blood Angels that have been cluttering my shelves for the past four years. I'd prefer to get them to someone local, finding them a good home and all that. I'm looking to sell them, but I'd be willing to trade for WHFB Vampire Counts, KoW Undead, or any suitably undead 28mm miniatures that you may have laying around. Chief concern is just getting them out of my hobby space and away from my already overflowing work station.
A common theme is missing backpacks, sorry about that, but along the way they seem to have popped off and gotten lost.
Blood Angels:
Space Marines:
As you can see, paint quality is lacking, but with a liberal dosage of simple green, they should be gtg. There are several models that need re-gluing. What you see is what is offered.
Again, I'm flexible on price or trade, very willing to combine groups.
Let me know if you have any questions or would like to work something out!

I've heard a lot of good things about Kings of War and I'm interested in giving the game a try. I printed out a copy of the rules, and an army roster. The rules seem straight forward enough, but it'd be great to play a few games with someone who knows what they're doing before I set out on my own.
I've got plenty of undead models from my VC army from WhFB (RIP), and a decent amount of Bretonnia models, which I suppose could be fielded as Kingdoms of Men.
As far as list comp and army size, I have very little idea of what I should shoot for. From what I've seen, I'd like to give Undead a try.
If someone want's to play on Tuesday down at Dark Tower, I'll work on and post a list here. Not fully knowing what I'm doing, it would be good to get someone else to check my stuff beforehand just to make sure I'm not bringing something illegal to play.
I'm open to any points value within reason, I've heard between 1000 and 2000 is a good target, but I have no experience in this arena and will differ to your judgment.
TL;DR: Warhammer player looking for a relaxed and informative, none-competative game of Kings of War.

not wanting to discredit it before i give it a go, anyone want to play a game of AoS? rule's are free at least.
-
Let's play tons of wacky games after the OFCC! Post apocalyptic cars, lady pirates, wizard warbands, steampunk navies, and all that.
While I'll be staying away from AoS until a ways down the road, I'm interested to hear what y'all think about when you give it a go. I honestly hope that I'm super wrong about my initial take on things.
So do I haha, I think I'll give it a go on tuesday if someone else is willing to suffer through it with me. Is there any interest in doing a mordheim or gorka morka campaign going?

I've had a good long read of the new rules and battles scrolls. It's seriously the biggest load of trash I've ever seen. I'm not sure that it qualifies as a game.
I'm curious to see how the organized play community responds, as this is not a basis for any type of organized play. A lot of the talk is around returning to the 7th Ed rules with the 6th Ed lists, which would be complete heaven.
Yeah I've played lots of different games over the years and I can safely say that this is by far the worst rule set I have ever seen. I probably will play a game or 2 just to sate my curiosity but the game is completely void of strategy and tactics. It's just a horribly unbalanced mosh pit in the middle. Super disappointing.
From what I can tell, it seems to have completely thrown any ounce of competitive play out the window. I can't see a reason not to take 100 daemon princes, or 100 bastiladons and call it a "fair list." Maybe I'm missing something or there'll be a full rules release later on...?
My army, Bretonnia, seems to have gotten just ludicrously simple and broken, hordes of knights of the realm hit with 4 attacks a model and have no semblance of the knightly charges of old, men-at-arms once rightly the worst unit in the game, now hit on a 2+ and re-roll armor saves of 1 or 2 (if kitted out with a paladin and full command), and bowmen just set up undefined lengths of auto-death dangerous terrain that can't be removed and doesn't affect friendly models. I'm intrigued to play it, as new anything interests me, but it really does seem to break down at anything above two friends playing around with five or six models each.
The way the rules have been drafted reminds me of the games I used to dream up as a child, you know, the ones where I would always win and the rules would change on a dime to best fit my megalomaniacal need for attention and power.
At the end of the day, it seems like the winner would be the fella who bought the most stuff on his last strafing run of a GW stock shelf. Goodbye points, hello money!
What this game does make me interested in is digging up an old copy of the Mordheim rules and having some fun with a proper fantasy skirmish game.

I thought it might be good to start a general discussion thread for the new fantasy rules (available for free from games-workshop.com).
To kick things off, no points costs!? Kinda confused as to how this will change in-game balance. It seems like they've taken effort to give an alternate win strategy to undersized armies, but I don't know if these will be balanced enough to justify the loss of point values for units.
Also, anyone up for getting together this weekend to try out the new rules down at Dark Tower?

blasters on the warrior squads may or may not yield dividends. My experience was ... disappointing. warriors with rack in the raider is MONEY !!
I was just worried about lack of anti tank in the list. In previous editions I found shredders to be a bit underwhelming and the lances on the raiders and ravagers, while dang nice on paper never seemed to properly do the job. If I was to drop the blasters it would free up 60pt to spend towards another HQ, maybe a Succubus to go with the incubi (I'd drop an incubi as well so she could fit in the transport, leaving me with 80pt to spend on her).

Thanks man, I was able to get a look at the new (relative to the last time I played) codex, and this is what I'm looking at to start with:

-Armor of misery
-Clone field
-Parasite’s kiss
-Husk blade
-webway portal
Court of the archon 100pt
-4 Sslyth
Venom 65pt
-Splinter cannon
Elite:
5 Incubi 125pt
-klaivex
-demiklaives
Venom 65pt
-Splinter cannon
Troop:
5 Kabalite Warriors 70pt

5 Kabalite Warriors 70pt
-Blaster

5 Kabalite Warriors 70pt
-Blaster
-Splinter cannon
Venom 65pt
-Splinter cannon
5 Kabalite Warriors 70pt
-Blaster
-Splinter cannon
Venom 65pt
-Splinter cannon
10 Kabalite Warriors 95pt
-Splinter cannon
Raider 95pt
-Splinter racks
-Enhanced Aethersails
-Dark lance
-night shields
10 Kabalite Warriors 95pt
-Splinter cannon
Raider 95pt
-Splinter racks
-Enhanced Aethersails
-Dark lance
-night shields
Fast Attack:
10 Hellions 150pt

Razorwing jetfighter 150pt
-4 shaterfield missiles
Heavy Support:
Ravager 125pt
-3 dark lances
Ravager 125pt
-3 dark lances
Total: 2500pt
I'm thinking about maybe shifting a few things around to get a succubus to ride along with my incubi, idk if that'd play very well though. I like the idea of the archon riding around with the sslyth and picking off backfield characters. Let me know what you think :)

I'm trying to get back into 40k. It's been well over a year since I played a substantial game, and in that time, both the main rules, and my army of choice (Dark Eldar) have been updated and revised.
I'm looking for some help constructing a fun, moderately competitive Dark Eldar list for the new rules. The target goal is 2500pt, as that seems to be what most people are playing at. When I was playing, I was running a Kabalite force, lots of Kabalite warriors, an Archon, some venoms and raiders for transport, and a pair of Razorwings and some scourges for supporting fire. I had wyches and reavers, and a few hellions, but I tended to stick to the good ol' Kabalites in most of my forces. The list was never really competitive, and functioned mostly as a fun break from the monotonous grind of Blood Angels and Black Templars.
I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for how to approach the new rules and new edition of the game through the lens of a Kabalite strike force and what I should aim to preserve and or add to the list to make it playable. I'm looking for a fun and dynamic list.
DE I've got built:
Archon
~40 Kabalite warriors
3 raiders
3 venoms
12 reavers
2 razorwing fighters
20 wyches
5 hellions
10 scourges (I would run them with dark lances as vehicle snipers)
I'm looking to expand or build off of this skeleton. Still want to have something quick moving, shooty, mid-ranged and fun. I have no idea what the new rules are like, any help would be great!
