  1. I don't want to crap up the Stunty Leeg thread so I will ask stuff here.

Does "We will be starting up the league again this coming January with new rules and team rosters (whatever those might be)"  this mean that the Persistent League is over after 1 Season?  And if so will the new/next season be run on whatever rules/rosters are included in the new Edition game to be released?  What if the new Edition is delayed, will that delay the new season?

  2. This is because when you are in an alliance or federation you are declaring war for all of the members.  When you are alone, drag the War Demands onto your empire name.  When you have company you can divide up an enemy by dragging some planets to your empire and other planets to another empire.  This is very useful when you need to buy someones vote to start the war by promising them spoils.

Ah,that makes sense. I haven't played any one game long enough to do that hey.

  3. Ok, I am still really struggling with the war mechanic.

When I declare war, I am given an option to add War Demands, but because my war score is 0, I can't add any demands.  Then the war happens for a few months, generally I dominate.  During the war, as I gain war score, I am unable to add additional war demands.  The war ends, all my fleets and armies get sent home, and it is a truly unsatisfying experience.

You should be able to add Demands when you first Declare War; you need to drag and drop them from one column to the other though, which isn't very intuitive.

EDIT:  Now that I have loaded the game it is even weirder than I remember.  You have to drag the war goal right on top of your civ title at the top of the right hand column.  It should light up with a blue border once you grab a war goal.

  4. A nice start to a game just went sideways on me 37 years in.

My Arthropoid Despotic Hegemony was doing relatively well and came across a weak neighbor.  He owned 3 planets in 2 systems, his capital was closer to me than the other 2 planets were.  I DoWed and went after the 2 outer rim planets, thinking that was safer than going after the home world right off.  His fleet was no match for mine and I easily made my way through his space destroying all of his Stations on the way in; including destroying his only fleet and the Spaceport at his homeworld before moving onto my main targets.  Once I got to the system with the 2 target planets I destroyed the Spaceport and he suddenly surrendered, leaving me no choice but to accept it.  This trapped 95% of my Fleet and 3 Armies (2 Assault armies and an Elite army) well behind enemy lines with no way to get home.  Oh well, I will wait out the 10 years, re-DoW him, take the home world and then get the boys home.

    Nope.

Now the part that was my fault, was that I didn't pay enough attention to suppressing the resistance (though as they were in their own Sector I don't know what options I had) and suddenly a new enemy fleet spawns, with 7 Destroyers - of my own design - (I just build my first Destroyer and had a second on the way) in a system with no Spaceport and stomps my Army transports and my ~20 Corvette Fleet almost before I can hit the pause button.  <_<

  5. The two Paradox have mentioned as being worked on are:

•Fixes to the Ethic Divergence and Convergence issues. Currently, Pops tend to get more and more neutral (they lose Ethics, but rarely gain new ones.)

•Late game crises bugs. There were some nasty bugs in there, blocking certain subplots and various surprising developments.

I don't know if it is a bug, or WAD and poorly implemented, but it seems Sectors don't build/upgrade buildings very well if at all.

I also saw a guy say that his Admiral cloned herself when he hit the split fleet button, and heard at least one other person say that they saw leaders changing gender at least, if not race as well.  Those are unconfirmed though.

I guess calling those big bugs might be overstating it.  The release version of the game is very playable and fun.

  6. I have been playing a quite a bit, but not getting far as I keep restarting.  While there are some relatively big bugs and balance issues it is very good out of the box for a Paradox title, though they have been much better about that since the disaster that was HOI3.  They also seem to have built a very interesting framework that they can flesh out nicely with their free updates and DLCs.

I have been a pretty big Paradox fan for the last decade, and have been saying I wanted them to develop a new Space/Fantasy IP for a long time now.  I have been curious what they could do with the Grand Strategy genre when they weren't constrained by trying to replicate historical outcomes.

I am enjoying it now and looking forward to seeing what they can do with it as time goes by.

  7. Some new stuff came out at some sort of Warhammer Fest today

    http://recalcitrantdaze.blogspot.co.uk/2016/05/warhammer-fest-2016-part-one-blood-bowl.html?m=1

    Highlights:

    • Hoping to be released before end of this year
    • No changes to core rules - though there seems to be a 16-sided die
    • Orcs and Humans in box with Skaven, Dwarf, Nurgle and Elf teams released as well (with plastic models)
    • The squares in the grid will be bigger meaning a bigger pitch board and new templates to accommodate that.
    • Several possible expansions if sales are good

  8. Actually, we can do online play even. I think I can get a hold of the team files to modify them so you can build whatever roster & we can use direct IP to play. It's easier with no star players as you just create a team in the campaign mode then export them & edit but I think I can make it work. I'll let you know shortly.

Yeah that would be fun. You'll have to treat me like a 10 year old and walk me through every step though.

  9. Here we go, an excuse to flounder around every match and get drunk every night but still have "fun"

4 Vampires, 4 RR, 9 Thralls, Helmut Wulf

  10. You can borrow my lizards. I have unpainted skaven you can borrow as well.

Just my 2 cents; it's probly better to take a team with some built-in skills if you're looking to be competitive.

Yeah as I looked at some Lizard builds it is looking a bit scary, no skill on the Saurus and only 9 points to spend is brutal.  I'd rather take a 5 Vampire team and have an excuse to flounder around every game.

  11. What team are you thinking? I'm gonna be pretty available to play test after this weekend. Saturday/Sunday are wide open for the most part if you or anyone else wants to hit rainy day or wow for games.

Not sure.  At the moment the only team I have in my possession is Necromantic; by the time Spike rolls around I will also have a Nurgle, Vampire and Lizard team and enough other parts to turn my Necros into Undead.  It will have to be one of those teams because I have got to take a break on spending money on this stuff.

At the moment I am thinking Necro or Lizards, and am playing around looking at builds but I am so new to this stuff I'm not really sure where to go with it.

I would be up for practice games on a weekend; it would have to be against Necros, unless I could borrow your Lizards for a match.
