  1. Inquisitor, Yes, Renegades and Heretics are a pretty rare army.

They are a great army if you love conversions, like having an army full of zany units, and don't really care about winning or losing.

I usually use them to support my Night Lords or my World Eaters. Although at last year's OFCC I took an army that was about 1,000 points of Renegades and Heretics and about 1,000 points of Night Lords (I lost all my games except for 1 draw). I had a great time. If you are interested, here is a link to my Ordo Chaos blog where you can see pics from OFCC of my Renegades and Heretics:

And last September I played a very fun game in which my army was 1,850 points of painted Nostroman 9th Renegades and Heretics (and 150 points of summoned daemons).  Later in the week, I'll post some pics of that September game in my Ordo Chaos blog.

  2. Hello everyone,

I hope your efforts to cope with the Coronavirus are going well. I live in the Kirkland, WA, the Washington state epicenter of the virus. Morale at work (which is a Fred Meyers) is pretty low and worries are high. So to entertain myself I thought I'd update my Ordo Fanaticus Chaos blog.

It's been 6 months since my last post so it's high time I update ya'all with my Chaos exploits.

Since last August I've finished 3 projects. The first is a batch of 16 Chaos Hounds (for Renegades and Heretics) or Flesh Hounds (for Khorne Daemons)Feb Hounds 10 of 15 all 15 of em.jpgFeb Hounds 12 of 15 Nharax.jpg

I also finished Valkia the Bloody, a Chaos Sorceress with jump pack and force sword or a Chaos Lord with jump pack and Murder SwordMarch4ValkiafromFront.jpg

Valkia is the first model in a Chaos warband of my own design, the Warpborn. None of the warband members were ever Adeptes Astartes. Instead, the were all spawned/created in the depths of the Warp using unique Chaos-developed geneseed. It will be a small Possessed-heavy warband, probably not exceeding 1,000 points.

And I completed Annika, a Disciples Champion, Enforcer, or Renegade Commander for my Renegades and Heretics army, the Nostroman 9thMarch5Annikafront.jpg

Here is a photo of Valkia and Annika togetherMarch1ValkiaandAnnika.jpg

And I managed to get in a game back in January. I brought both my Tallarn IG and my Night Lords CSM and played a demo game with a friend, 1,000 points a side. He chose to use the Tallarns and I used the Night Lords. It was a great game. In the end he won and we both had a blast.

  3. Hello everyone,

I got in a very fun game against an Ork player at Meeples Games in West Seattle. This was my first time at Meeples and I loved the place. Great players and a great atmosphere.

I brought 2000 points of my Night Lords and they got trounced. But the opponent was very nice and his Ork army was gorgeous. Here are some pics:

It's the only good Night Lords thing: when I take their warlord trait I always forget it, morale debuffs rarely hurt anyone, and I never care enough about my infantry to spend 1 CP to give them a better cover save  🙂

In addition, I'm down to about 57 or so unpainted models. I hope to finish painting all my 40K models by the end of the year (knocks on head). Here are some pics of my remaining unpainted models.

  4. This is a good discussion. In my games where I set aside points for daemon summoning I also often find I'd rather keep my CSM characters moving during the movement phase.

However, in many of my games this year I've been taking Renegades and Heretics alongside my Chaos Marines. Aside from Russes, Sentinels, and Marauders the R&H underperform, but that's another thread.

But I've been rhinking about using the R&H Renegade Commanders as a base for some Turn 2 summoning. On Turn 1, run 1 up each flank. Enemy snipers always ignores them and shoot my CSM characters, Deffy, or  my Zerkers' Rhino on Turn 1 anyway. Then on Turn 2 they start summoning! This would leave my CSM characters free to keep keep moving during their movement phase. It would also make Renegade Commanders Dnegrah and Vicious Pete (currently a useless tax) quite useful!

  5. Hello everyone,

I had a great time at Ordo this year. My chaos army (Night Lords teamed up with Renegades and Heretics) lost 4 games and tied 1. All my opponents were very nice and all my games were very enjoyable. Here are a baker's dozen photos from the event.

  6. Hello everyone,

I'm looking forward to this weekend's OFCC. I'll be bringing a Night Lords battalion and a Renegades and Heretics battalion as part of Team Infil-traitors.

To test out my list I recently got in a test game. I lost horribly (my list is rather casual) but I had a blast. I killed 3 Eldar units and my opponent killed 17 Chaos units. 🙂

  7. Hello everyone.

Your army and list look great Nathaniel!

I'm all paid up and here is my final list and some pictures of my 2019 OFCC list. I'm sad that I couldn't work in my Bezerkers and Marauders. 😞 But I'm happy that I get to use 100 Mutant Rabble and Militia along with 4 Daemon Engines! 🙂

Warband Origins: Long ago there was a noble family, the house of Nightfall. They lived in an age of peace and stability established by their world's ruler. Their ruler was Konrad Curze, the fair and just lord of the garden planet Nostramo. And then one day, a corrupt and weak emperor sent an assassin to slay the Lord Curze. The vile assassin succeeded. The emperor then destroyed the paradise that was Nostramo. House Nightfall managed to escape. But since that day they have never forgotten. Vengeance upon the emperor will be theirs!

Dnegrah's ancestors were Nostroman nobility, the noble House of Nightfall. They feared Curze but respected his ability to establish order. They seek to avenge Curze's death at the hands of the Emperor. Buzzsaw is Dnegrah's lover. He won her affection through his devotion to Chaos and strict personal code of honor.

  12. Hello everyone,

I've had some fun working on my Chaos hobbying recently. Here are some projects I completed in June and so far in July:

-2 Renegades and Heretics armored sentinels

-A batch of 6 Renegades and Heretics Disciples

    -8 Plaguebearers

-Another batch of 6 Renegades and Heretics Disciples

-A batch of 6 Renegades and Heretics "greatcoat" infantry, most will be used as Chaos Militia

    Here are some pictures.

1.) 2 R&H Armored Sentinels, Hound of Chaos and Star of ChaosJulyCompletedSentinelsFront.jpgJulyCompletedSentinelsRight.jpgJulyCompletedSentinelsRear.jpgJulyCompletedSentinelsLeft.jpg

In games these 2 suckers have proven useful. They are small and so often don't get targeted too early on. JulySentinelHound.jpgJulySentinelZombiePilot.jpgJulySetinelSkelliePilot.jpgThis allows them to dish out a decent amount of damage before being shot to death. As you can see, I've magnetized the tops so the atrophied pilots can be seen.

  13. Hello everyone, I hope ya had a great 4th of July.

Progress is shambling along on my Chaos force for this year's OFCC.

I assembled 2 Chaos Renegades and Heretics Leman Russes, Khorne's Ire and Reaver. Here are some WIP pics.

    July Russes from Left.jpg

    July Russes from Right.jpg

    July Russes from Rear.jpg

    July Russes from Front.jpg

    July Reaver from Front.jpg

I left Reaver's rear hatch and front hatch open because at some point in the future I want to add a little V8 engine from Zinge Industries to the rear and I want to try my hand at LED lighting on the front. I will definitely get these suckers rust-coated up in time for OFCC but I might not get blue paint on them in time. It's not like R&H wouldn't have rusty vehicles anyway, right. 🙂

  14. Pappasa,

I love your Khorne list. I ran World Eaters last year and I had a blast.

By the way, note that with the FAQ that came out in late 2018, lasher Maulerfiends went down in price. They are now 120 points base and with a single set of lasher tendrils at 12 they go to 132 not the 144 you had listed. The wording in the Dex is not entirely clear but most Chaos players read it as 1 set of tendrils replaces the 2 magma cutters.  Assault units this edition need all the help they can get this edition!

Hopefully my Maulerfiend, Mary, can meet your Maulerfiends at OFCC in August. I'm on Team Infil-traitors. I'll also be running 1 or 2 Blood Slaughterers. I love those little dudes.

  15. Hobbying is more or less proceeding apace. I'm more ore less on track to have my Renegades and Heretics ready for this year's OFCC.

I still have to paint up about 16 troopers, 2 Russes, and the 2 sentinels you see below.

    Here are some pics:
