kingblackgrot
im looking for a section of rail road track (actual rail road track) between 16- 25 inches in length the heavier duty the better. Failing that im looking for a usable anvil. If anyone would know anything about this or where i could locate either one preferably on a budget that would be awesome. Raak
Depending on what you're trying to accomplish I can probably help you out. I occasionally do some primitive blacksmithing to produce no bevel bushcraft style blades but I'll need to dig through a mountain to locate that trunk. Pm me. kingblackgrot
While looking at college courses and talking with a counselor he asked me waht it was i could see my self doing no matter how obscure it was. I told him ive always been fascinated with black smithing. So he helped me find programs and apprenticeships in the area and what they were looking for to get in. So now im taking welding and metal working classes and after some heavy research online ive drawn up plans for my own forge, anvil, coiling rig, and curing station. Nearly done assembling the peices for my forge out of a semitruck break drum and after poking around online seems like 90% of blacksmiths start off using a peice of rail road track for there anvil. kind of like a right of passage :D. So yes big project indeed.
