SW Venerable Dreadnought

So I finished my SW Stormwolves and moved to the new Ven Dread kit that I picked up. This is another awesome kit! My only problem so far has been that the right arm is not designed to spin, so I had to carve out the hole on it.

I'm going for max movement/magnetization on this one and so far have magnetized the hip joint (for swivel), both arms at the shoulders and both hands at the wrists. I chose not to magnetize the faceplate/sarcophagus because I don't like the alternate heads, the leg plates or the wolf pelts that I added. I also added the Murderfang trophy rack to the back for funsies (no pics yet) but left room for a smoke launcher if I needed it.

Anyways. Pics!

I drilled all the way through the hip so that the magnet on the legs basically pins the model to the top and then the other side of the magnet holds it in.

For the arms, each arm was easy to magnetize since the shoulder is hollow. The wrists were pretty easy as well, as you could put a magnet on the peg on the arm side and one on the hand side pretty easy (a little shaving to account for the extra length).

Anyways...

I'm not sure I'm going to go quite as far, but I'm definitely doing at least some of this. Being able to spontaneously repose the axe is particularly cool.

Heheh. He's an action figure!

You could do it much easier. I'm aiming to be able to swap between Murderfang, Ven Dread and the ranged options.

If you wanted to do similar without the articulation, you probably wouldn't even need magnets. The whole kit has very snug fits on the hand options and shoulders and you could probably just pressure fit them without magnets for the different options.

You should be fine with pressure fit. I just wanted super poseable. :)

The only differences between murderfang and a normal dread are really his weapons. You could magnetize his extra murdery bits (like the wolf pelt on the left shoulder is slightly different) but I just chose the bits I liked best instead. I figure as long as it's a space wolf dread with dual murderclaws, that'll be fine for any event I'm likely to go to. Oh and I did make sure not to glue on a smoke launcher, since that is a piece that differs between models.

Aggh. I made a mistake and need to try to remove a couple pieces.

Piece 46 (two of them) is shared between the murderclaws and the Axe/SS. So you need to not glue that. It's the ring that attaches to the arm, so you might have to magnetize the hand without gluing that. I'll let you know if I can get it apart.
