Lord Hanaur Posted January 7, 2017 Report Share Posted January 7, 2017 I was there for D-Day...waiting on the hill. blasting away. It brought home how truly difficult that operation was for the Allies. In our recreation of D-Day I felt the allies were too tentative in the early going which hurt them because getting pinned after moving 6 inches instead of 12 blocked the people from behind them from advancing even when they survived the shells. When my Motorized Rocket battery finally was able to get into position, it was a party, in conjunction with an 88 battery firing barrages and of course my trusty 105's. Trained Troops storming the beaches were shelled, shelled and shelled agan while under intense HMG fire. Bpoli7 ran that if I recall? It was pretty cool. he even had the boats for coming on shore.
