  1. I agree Chex. I think a move away from massive units and deathstars is good. I like it when armies have a variety of units. Just makes the game more dynamic, less "well, i need to deal with that one thing". Though yes, I dont miss parking lots either.

As for ranged D. It's in the game, so we should tr and see what good it will do. It will lower the numbers of adamantine lances, which is good in my book. I like super-heavies but I think the plethora of Imperial Knights hurts the game as a whole. As well, the necron book (the most un-fun book to play against, IMO) was designed with the fact that the enemy will be fielding D weapons on regular units. I say Necrons are un-fun to play against mostly because without D weapons it's frustratingly difficult to kill even the most basic infantry out of that list. So WE have to accept that this is where the game is going, for better or worse. Might as well figure out what the good points are.

  2. Well, the junkka is just a transport. AV 12/12/10, with a turret str 6 ap 3 flamer, a heavy flamer, grot riggers, open topped fast, with a ram. it's not a focal point of the army. the strength of the army is there is no focal point. everything is a threat, everything has a job to do and they often over-lap. there's no death star, no 700 point unit, nothing to focus on. I've done well against eldar, tau and dark eldar so far.

  3. Alright, here's what I got so far. It's served me well in several games, and has a rash of threats that overwhelm surgical strikes. The big mek goes with the mega kannons, the mega nobz either go in their truck, or in the mekboy junkka. LOTS of cool modeling opportunities too. Follows adepticon rules, one allied detachment, and anything from forgeworld is 0-1.  Let me know what you think.

  4. Okay, one last question... what parts of IA vol 8 is legal? if i wanna take a mekboy junka as a dedicated transport for my big mek, can i, or does it have to be taken as an elite slot? can i take gun trukk squads? does the stuff in IA 8 have to have been reprinted at some point elsewhere in order to be usable? can i find a list somewhere? are we going by adepticon's rules? fluger? anyone who plays orkz know? I want a list that's usable at other events, not just OFCC. i know most stuff in columbus uses adepticon's guidelines. please help, thanks.

  5. Pax: True, but their BASE type is skimmer. I view that like a flying monstrous creature, it's base type is MC, not flier. These little guys are fliers, and all fliers use flier bases. The skimmers that CAN be fliers are skimmers. The fliers that can be skimmers, that have hover, are still fliers and on flier bases.

  6. I'll have to check, but I think (my memory is spotty at best) that if a unit is a flying vehicle, it has to use the flier base and stand. either way you could CHOOSE to use the flier base/stand, if you want to benefit from the increased LoS (but suffer from increased exposure). Though they may come with skimmer bases, using a flier, with shrouding no less, on a skimmer base would lead to all kinds of weird LOS and cover situations.

  7. Okay, I'm trying to put together an ork armored company type list, lots of fun. now, in IA 8, there's a bunch of ork stuff like gun trukks and the like, that say they can be taken as part of an ork list as this or that force org slot. Now, the question is, there are updated versions in the dreadmob faq on the FW website, since i have an updated version, can i take them as part of the ork list? can i take gun trukks and heavy tracks and big tracks and supa-kannons and stuff? Fluger? Do you know? anyone else?
