  1. He was recently interviewed in the documentary Jodorowsky's Dune. He looked like a little troll and sounded like he had eaten asbestos flakes for breakfast for years.

RIP you creepy mug. I have been a fan for decades.

  2. I have read a bunch of great reviews of the game. I also like that a force can be as small as 3 figures.

I expect to receive my order in a few weeks and will then start painting them up. I am gonna pick up a couple gangs to start with, so I will have some to loan out if anyone wants to try it out. Jesse, i will hit you up.

Personally, i am a huge Judge Dredd fan and have been since high school. When I was a young punk rocker, I painted a huge Dredd on the back of my denim vest. I am particularly excited to paint up these dudes. So far I have the Ape Gang on order, but will probably order the Demonic Cabal gang, too. And maybe the Angel family and possibly the Sov City Invasion force. Man... i want 'em all. The Fatties are hilarious.

  3. I saw Jodorowsky's Dune last night at the Fox 10 in downtown Portland. It was fantastic. Jodorowsky is charismatic, intelligent, and animated. The story the documentary tells is fascinating. I found it inspirational in that the message is to pursue your art as you see it at any cost and with no compromise.

I saw Jodorowsky present El Topo about 20 years ago and do a Q&A afterwards. He looked like a terrifying Rasputin, large, hairy, and possibly insane. In this movie, he is clean shaven, bright eyed, and warm. Really not what i expected.

I would recommend this film to anyone that loves the art of movie making, doing art for the sake of art, or just loves fascinating characters and stories. I walked out of the theater satisfied and with a huge smile on my face.

  4. And at the office today so I actually have out the mp3 player.

But Now I'm Back - Pink Martini

The Human Calculator - Man or Astroman?

Zombi [The Living Dead's Voices] - Goblin

Whoa! Goblin! Did you see them when they cam through in October? I went. they were fantastic.

  5. I have played a bunch with the base set and one night with the expansion. I agree that this game is very fun. It is quick enough to get through several games in a night yet long enough to have depth and strategy. It is also has a large enough dose of screw your neighbor to keep me interested.

Highly recommended and one of the more popular games in my game group over the past few years.

  6. Stalingrad - 5 out of 10 for most people. 9 out of 10 for me, though. The plot was ok. The action and tension was ok. The sets were amazing, however. Lots of cool equipment and such. It was really awe inspiring seeing overhead views of the city of Stalingrad in ruins.

It did come off as one long Soviet propaganda film.

Stalingrad is my main point of interest in WWII, so this movie was pretty much awesome for me. I saw it in Imax at the Lloyd Center. Went to the 10 o'clock showing and me and my friends were the only people there. I don't now how much longer it will be there with that sort of attendance.

If you like WWII movies, it is a spectacle. But the substance is a bit lacking.

  7. I am going. I went to the preseason game last Sunday and am gong to the one tomorrow Saturday, too.

I have season tickets so rarely miss a game.

I think all the indicators are there that this will be a great year for the PTFC. Ives Galarcep at Soccer by Ives thinks the timbers will take the MLS Cup this year and I don't doubt him. It is obvious that Caleb Porter has incredible vision. Last year's team was phenomenal, and I feel that every change we made in the off season has been an upgrade. Very excited for this season.

  8. Thanks, man. Well.... its going to come to an end for a while after the tourney this weekend. I have wanted to make stop motion animated films for about a decade now and have recently decided to take the plunge (since I turned 45 last month and realized I am going to die some day). My dream job would be making sets, so I decided to start doing it. Step one was to hook up with an animator to learn a thing or two. So, i emailed a guy I found on the internet with some pics of what i have done and am now his set builder. Starting next week, I begin construction of a large set for his next film. Woo hoo! Then I plan on building my own studio and sets in my basement. So... it may be a bit before I get back to making terrain. I will, of course, post pics here of the stuff I make, even if it isn't mini related.

Here is a short the guy made featuring the character from the thing I am working on.
