There's a group of us that play Warmaster in the area. No real specific times (I know some of the guys try and play Thursday evenings), but I can normally carve out at least one Saturday a month to play some games. We have a WhatsApp/Discord group, would be happy to add you to either if you would like, just drop me a line!

Love the idea of Minihammer! I play "normal" scale 9th Age but have always thought about putting together a force in that scale, will have to look into it more!

I would love to join the discord for now. I haven't explored whatsapp yet, but will look at downloading it. Discord name is Kelharis.

where are you located (Portland metro?) and do you have a preference as to where you play? (LGS or ORDO or?)  I am not sure I fit into what your looking for - I just think it may help with finding people.

Yes, this would probably be helpful info. I'm on the east side of Gresham. Would love to find somewhere out here to play, but I can travel as far as Guardian Games and Mindtaker.

  3. Hey all, mt name is Ben and I work graveyard shift Sunday-Wednesday, and sometimes Thursday.  I'd love to be able to get back to doing some gaming with people, and I'm hoping that there's people who can meet either Friday or Saturday in the late morning or early afternoon. Fridays would be my preference most of the time.

Now, what games you may ask?

Well, here's everything I have currently:

40k (Tau 7k plus points, Grey Knights 3d printing an army, currently combat patrol sized, Daemons about 1500 points)

    AOS (Daemons as above)

X-wing (Empire, nearly all options including huge ships)

Minihammer(10mm) T9A or WHFB any edition (Orcs and Goblins 10k points)

Talisman ( I have most of the expansions)

Things I have played in the past, or Would be interested in trying:

    Kill Team

    Warcry

    Blood Bowl

    Warmaster

    Battletech and/or Mechwarrior RPG

    Flames of War

    Bolt Action

I have a 3d printer and stl files for pretty much any game. I would love to find a like-minded group that becomes a regular thing.

Let me know if anyone has similar availability/interest in gaming.

  4. I started reading through Destiny last night at work. At first I didn't like how it felt dumbed down, but then realized it would probably be pretty good considering I don't have as much time as I did in college.

I agree that the mech combat section isn't really what I'd be looking for on the TT, but integrating either of the TT versions shouldn't be too tough.

How essential in the elite armies like Elves is it to have multiple characters in 1000pts? In my Dark Elf force for example I have a general on manticore and a wizard. Should drop the manticore for a hero?

Just got my first 1000pts of Dark Elves built and am thinking I need another hero especially when the general fails a Cmd check on double 6’s and needs to kill somebody.

This guy does good breakdown videos per faction. He does lists for 2k points, not 1k, but it does sound like a hero is almost a necessity for those blunders. Also, he usually recommends that monster mounts go on heroes, not the general, since it's a big risk to commit your general to combat.

  6. So I've been MIA for a while. Work, Covid, Kids, etc. But I did get an Anycubic Photon and Wash and Cure last year and have been printing up mostly 10mm stuff for now. I'm kind of going all in on minihammer and other miniaturized versions of games. I haven't had the time to learn how to support models, but I have learned a good deal about cure settings by trial and error.

My most recent army I'm working on is the Chaos Dwarfs from Ankylo Miniatures. CDs have always been my favorite army.

I would like to get some CD scenery printed up in 10mm scale, along with some other scenery items, but I don't have an SLA printer, just resin. If anyone is interested in printing up some scenery, let me know. I have a TON of STL files from Patreons and Kickstarters if you're looking for something in particular.

    It works.  Vehicle keyword.

Did they FAQ this to be VEHICLE? The book I have reads BATTLESUIT for Repair Protocol. If so, makes the SS substantially better.

I had in my head that you were speaking of Repair Protocols, apologies for not reading well, lol. Anyway, same deal I think saviour Protocols is INFANTRY and BATTLESUIT only. Otherwise you could use shield drones for Longstrike, no?

  8. Tau are in an interesting place in 8th. It's easy to build a top tier competitive list, and it's easy to build a doormat list that your opponent will rofl stomp. It's less easy to build something in the 50% - 75% competitive range that seems to be the OFCC list ideal. However, there are ways for you as the player to greatly impact the stompiness of some of the units.

Most of Tau's hyper-power comes from synergy. 5 pulse rifle warriors unbuffed at 18" range is 5 s5 ap0 shots, hitting on 4s, woundong on 3s, no biggie for almost any opponent. Those same 5 FW fully buffed with drone and HQ support makes them 15 s5 ap0 shots, hitting on 3s re-rolling 1s, wounding on 2s. That becomes problematic for most opponents.

Take the riptide, it's our best unit, but maybe only nova charge every other turn, or maybe dont use C&C node stratagem with it.

Your good attitude will be your best weapon at OFCC, and your ability to strategically hinder your own army's capabilities may be your second best weapon if your opponents army warrants it.

Build the list strong, make it weaker through intentional poor synergistic play, adjust to good synergistic play if opponents army and play warrants a power increase is how I would approach it.

Good luck and have fun most of all!

  9. I have pledged for a full 10mm CD army for minihammer.  Less than 24 hours left on this one, they hit full funding and a few stretch goals so far.  They are also very accommodating on substitutions, which is good. I can't see needing 130+ CD warriors or almost 90 blunderbuss guys. I'll be asking them to sub some Bull Centaurs for a lord on Taurus and some of the 8! units of Dwarfs for some Kadim and more war machines most likely.

  10. I've been toying with an idea for my Tau army for a while, and I'm hoping someone here on Ordo knows enough about this stuff to either help design it, or tell me it's not doable.  The idea is to make marker-light tokens using either 32mm or 40mm bases.  I'd like to cut 5 small holes in the base for LEDs, and have one button to control them.  Ideally, it would be a 6 click series. click once, light 1 turns on, click twice, light 2 turns on and so on, with a 6th click to turn all lights off.  I picture there being a flat battery in the cavity of the base, like a CR123 type.

    1. Is this doable without having a decently sized board of some type in the setup to control the clicking stuff?

    2. I have no idea how to do something like this...
