Stealth Suits with Markerdrones, you can deploy them anywhere not in your opponent's deployment zone and more than 12" away from an opponent. I think that's your best option,.

What is your markerlight goal (how many are you aiming to hit with on a unit)? If it's just 1, then Cadre Fireblades are the best choice, 36" range can reach most of the board with 2 CF on the roster.

I agree. We have only a few reliable units that don't require other units.

I've been thinking of picking up some Tetras for the HIM, plus they do move 18" and can "deepstrike" with their "Shadow Strike" arrival option. It honestly feels to me like the best option for markerlights that are mobile, durable, and able to be placed where I need them when I need them. That said, I'm trying like crazy to find something workable without markerlight reliance. I keep coming back to special characters for that. Tau have a heavy reliance on synergy of abilities, that could mean markerlights and seeker missles, or it could mean Longstrike and hammerheads, or Shadowsun and stealth suits.

I like to think if Tau simplistically. Tau have 2 options IMO 1. Gunline 2. Mobile Gunline We have no real melee, we have no psykers. Basically that leaves movement phase and shooting phase, so they must be embraced and welcomed as if the Ethereals themselves created them for us. I know the Orks are famous for more dakka is best, but for Tau, more dakka is life and death. This is why it's so hard to build a "fun to play against" Tau list. Trying to hit the sweet spot between "I cant hurt your army" and "sorry I tabled you" is not easy. I'm exploring the stealthy side if Tau with the escalation league with all of the infiltration suits I'm bringing. I hope it provides both fun and challenge to my opponent and me. We will see.

I am always inclined to let people do their "Can I do this?" stuff, unless I'm sure they can't. Only thing keeping me from saying 100% yes is the "as if it were the Movement phase" part. It all depends on how one interprets that I suppose, do you take all associated movement phase rules, or only ones associated with stuff like terrain?

Use this Stratagem at the start of your Shooting phase. Pick a DAL’YTH SEPT unit from your army. That unit may shoot and then immediately move up to 6" as if it were the Movement phase. They cannot Advance as part of this move.

Take the Ion Cannon instead, You have more than enough anti tank with the gunrigs. Ion cannon gives you great anti multi-wound, and it gets around one of Tau's greatest weaknesses, random shots & random damage. I would personally only take one gunrig at the 750 point mark, unless you're planning for a specific opponent.

Will anyone be available to play on Sunday the 13th? I would like to try and escalate with all of the other cool kids, but I cant come out to play on Tuesdays. My reluctance to commit to these type of things falls back to a limited availability and I dont want anyone to feel obligated to play me on a day that they cant, simply because I cant play on the day that they can. Anyway, I can make it to all the usual spots east of downtown, WoW, GG etc. Also, earlier is better for me due to someone having to wake up at 3:45 AM Monday for work.

Infiltrate is during deployment for stealth suits, ghostkeel and Shadowsun. Basically can deploy anywhere not in opponents deployment, and more than 12" from opponents forces. I'm perfectly ok with a "standard deploy only" mission, just wanted to clarify before I plan on it.

Is this meant to override rules that allow deployment outside the zone, like Infiltration?

Keep in mind that if you grab the kill team box set, you get the firewarriors plus the trench terrain for only $10 more (minus 15%). Or the start collecting for only $35 more.

I went through all of the relevant threads and don't see any mentions of rule of 1, only your questions about the rule of 3 (2, 1). I chose Skyray as it was the cheapest of the tank options and I have a good amount of ML to support the seeker missiles. I like the infiltration ability of stealth suits and ghostkeels, being able to deploy in the middle of the table, or even on the edge of the enemy deployment zone mean I can take objectives quickly.

Doing some list noodling in case I am able to play in the escalation league. First up: 500 points with a decent number of markerlights, 9 CP and no drones.
