I imagine they'd feel like the old hexgrid Chessex battlemap used to have. Hmm.

Mats by Mars has some nice looking designs, although I haven't seen them in the flesh, so caveat emptor. They're also based in Missouri, so shipping shouldn't be as bad as ordering from Poland.
Interesting. Those are vinyl. I wonder how they feel... I like the sponginess of the neoprene ones.

I've bought pre-painted terrain from gamemat.eu, and I'm very happy with that so I'd expect their mat quality to be good too. IIRC, they make two-sided mats as well, which might be a nice feature. Shipping would suck.

I have a couple of FLG mats that I really like, but that's no help I guess. When I was shopping for 'em, I almost went with F.A.T. mats so that's where I'd start.

If it weren't for Kasdan I doubt we'd be having this conversation.

All 3 movies were not a Lucas envisioned story.
Judging by what I've read online, that's not a bad thing. Every time I hear what Lucas had in mind for the final trilogy (The Whills, Midiclorians, Fantastic Voyage-style adventures in a miniaturized Force realm) I count my lucky stars we ended up where we did.

They just closed the FFG Interactive studio, which was their in-house group and who had only produced the LotR LCG digital edition. There's nothing stopping them licensing out their IP, or working directly with other studios to produce stuff under their own banner like they did with Battlelore.

Apparently, they had only produced the digital version of the Lord of the Rings living card game and that game was, essentially, a flop.
-
They didn't have a lot of irons in the fire. Star Wars was definitely winding down, and Genesys seemed pretty stagnant to me. I expect the bean counters looked at what it'd cost to keep the RPG studio open relative to predicted revenue and said the opportunity cost was too high. Better to invest those dollars in the side of the business that was more successful: board and miniature games ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Sad news. Fantasy Flight Games has laid off their entire RPG and FFG Interactive (digital versions of FFG boardgames) staff. Details are available at Reddit. According to the Order 66 Podcast guys, the entire RPG team was let go, so no skeleton crew remains to run a freelancer-based studio.
I really like the FFG Star Wars RPG (yes, even the goofy dice...) so this is really disappointing news. The line was pretty close to completion... Edge of the Empire, Age of Rebellion, and Force and Destiny all released a full complement of splatbooks, but I was enjoying the slow stream of era sourcebooks, consolidation books, etc. A Mandolorian sourcebook would have been epic.
The boardgames teams are apparently unaffected.
So it goes.

No body shaming, man... it's hard to hit the stair climber when you're in deep stasis. According to the reveal, she can be taken with any sept which is most excellent news.

I've played Vior'la in my last couple of games, which has been a lot of fun but I'll totally switch back to T'au sept if Shadowsun gets a new model and rules. I love the character.

How's it going? Had a chance to do any experimenting?

Supposedly, the “something” Finn wanted to tell Rey is that he, too, was Force sensitive. How the &$%# he knew that and how the %#$& the audience was supposed to pick up on that implication I do not know...
Hunh. I didn't get that read at all. Not saying you're wrong, just that it went completely over my head. Chalk it up as another odd creative decision.

I feel there was sexual tension subtext in the first two films between them. I found the method distasteful.
I thought the whole romantic sub-plot of the film(s) was weird, especially given Finn's desire to tell Rey "something" and never getting the chance.

I went and saw it last night. I thought it was fine. Far from my favorite SW film, but definitely not my least. Considering the high degree of difficulty (trying to please all the different camps now in the fandom) I think J.J. did alright despite some very odd decisions.

I found that I needed to add one of these to my Patriot. PDX air is so damp that the water trap on the compressor couldn't handle the job by itself. Also, the Badger quick-release airline fitting is super useful.

I did a big push on my Orks when Contrast paints released and made good progress, but have been slacking off recently. I've got three weeks off work over the holidays, I think I'll try an Instagram #HobbyStreak commitment to stay on track. That, and no hobby-room hotboxing.

There are worse things. My wife and I share a Kindle account, so I have to be very cautious opening amazon.com at work due to all the semi-NSFW mom-porn it pushes on me. I think there must be a lot of money in painting abs for book covers.

Pretty sure e04 was lifted whole cloth from a Clone Wars episode. In spite of Gina, first miss of the season.

I love the AdMech ornithopter. It looks like BeepBoop-109 found a picture of an extinct cicada and ran with it. And yes, Dune.

The main thing I'm concerned about are login queues. Sounds like that was a launch-week issue. Thanks.
