  1. we have all seen this in every game we play.

It never struck me that people were intentionally cheating, but rather allowing excitement and desire colour their perception.

A fine line, that still ends in the same mess, but it is worth noting that these are still good people, despite the bad habits we all share hahaha

  2. Link teams are really shocking at first, but once you get down to learning their ways, they become far less scary

I love seeing my opponent bring their link team, always D to A, and start poking and scaring it. The order efficiency of a link team is certainly lost once they spend all the CG's orders trying to preserve them selves!

Also and excellent way to drain your opponent's CTs

Active turn TAGs still love tasty link teams

Link teams are less powerful than tags on active turn (GENERALLY speaking, exceptions abound), but more powerful than a TAG on reactive turn (representing their teamwork).

A huge error I see Link team players make is to treat their link team like a death star, it will work a couple of times (and on paper), but it falls apart when the enemy just picks off your peripheral models/orders, and starves the team.

The link team must STILL perform a strategic role, be it defensive or offensive for example, otherwise they become an expensive and out of place liability.

  3. Terrain happens to be my favourite part of the game. Tables set up for play just look amazing, and it is a shot to the heart for anyone who walks in and gets a gander!

Can't wait to finish another table myself (I miss my old one something serious)

  4. lol but each antipode pack has 3 dudes right?  hard to kill all those guys with super high phys... unless you have oh idk a heavy flamethrower or something  .  so i think my next purchase will either be a marut or some mercs that look fun.  anyone know the page that tells you which mercs your faction can use or can you use all of them?

The official army builder has all that info on there! Mostly mercs are available to vanilla armies

  5. I have a tactic for that. It's called "Operation: Blackout".

    1. Set-up table and Deploy.

    2. Memorize layout of board and location of your antipodes and enemy TAG.

    3. Point over your opponent's shoulder to something behind him.

    4. When he turns - turn off the lights.

    5. Move Antipodes quickly to a favorable position.

    6. Turn on lights.

    7. Blame the utility company.

    8. Proceed with TAG beatdown.

You are on to something here, what will be the most meta-tactic those backwater Ariadnan scum have ever devised!

  6. even in bad matchup situations, all you need to do is roll one crit and it changes things completely! i dont really have much to add on top of what RD and peanut said, but read the crap out of the rulebook cause it takes as much if not more things to memorize than whfb(which is saying something...).  i love the models, fluff and terrain along with the game.  it will suck you in fast... buy what appeals to you the most.  who cares how popular the faction is unless thats something that really matters to play something 'unique'.  just research the heck out of it!  and you can always come to watch guys and they are more than willing to help you get a feeling for the game!  although it seems like you've done a lot of research already :)  good luck and looking forward to having you join the meta if you decide to make the plunge!

The game is extremely fluid, the goals and odds change in the time it takes the dice to roll to a stop!

  7. I did not write it, but the guy who did plays over this side and consistently takes first!

He also placed top line at the Nova opnes (very large tournaments) on the east coast when he lived over there.

Mr. Casiano is a top notch player and a great opponent! Definitely get a game off of him when you get the chance to come up. Some of your portland folk played against him last ITS up here. The Ariadnan Math instructor player from portland (name escapes me atm it is on the tip of my tongue!) was on the top table with him last round!

  8. Just remember that when that ariadna player does the mine drop around said corner, they will likely not have access to cover as the mine is occupying the position (the model has to leave the wall to go around the mine to get LoS).
