  1. Ill run an orc big boss in a chariot at times and with marginal success.

I think bsbs are better suited in a large block of troops with the same troop type and a champion to get all the benefits of LOS and a challenger to save their ass for a round.

BSBs are just so important in this game that you are just asking for attention when you put one in the open like that. I agree with MN that a simple master with a cool magic weapon or something would be better.

  2. I would agree that the 10 warlocks is possibly the one rule... their point cost is laughable. I do like their fluff and style but they are extremely powerful.

I dont like the Idea of restricting character usage. If a person likes to max their characters out, that should be fine. I do see MNs point of the combo of a bunch of Masters in a block of Warlocks right in your face turn one, YIKES! That is a great combo which might be a red flag if the rest of the army is offensive as well.

I dont think that BTs need to be restricted, nor any BS based shooting.

  3. I read 5 rank and file models as a regular troop of its type that makes up ranks. It doesnt matter whether or not they are in 3 wide to gain a rank bonus or 5 wide to get a wider frontage and more attacks. I would not assume that a rule the give benefits in the close combat phase, ranks bonuses and steadfast, would correlate with what happens in the shooting phase when it comes to character protection from shooting attacks.

I think it is stretching the numerical definition of "5" in every paragraph that talks about "look out sir".

  4. GTs are full of guys that are trying to gain any advantage they can. They use rules that arent fully defined and say them over and over until more reasonable people just give up to simply be able to move on. I dont agree with that play style, this game is for gentlemen.... if you cant handle that,  get on the PC where I cant "nut Punch" you for being a dick.

  5. You will be surprised at the effectiveness of that list with a little time in the saddle.

Just keep in mind that in 8th units charge much further. In 7th there was more time to set up and eliminate chaff because infantry wasnt "all up in your business" on turn 2. Well, things have changed.

I know that you know how far M4+2D6 is but I still find myself amazed at how far infantry blocks are charging given how much 7th edition I played. March blocking isnt guaranteed either... stuff was slow in 7th plain and simple.

... just a heads up for playing WE.

  6. CAN I TRY?

Raindog is very clear in his rulings. Doing things "outside" the box and coming up with whacky scenarios seem to be the thing at the tournaments Ive attended. It has to be simple and clear giving its craziness.

*remember our skaven/warriors game where nobody even fought?

ANY UNIT/MODEL can hold a forest.

If you have a unit in a forest at the end of the turn you get 1pt.

If you have a unit in a forest at the end of the game you get 3pts

If both players have units in the forest, BOTH are awarded points.

  7. Congrats on the win Raindog! Thats a solid showing with a great army. I always feel like any army in a good generals hands can perform consistently enough to win close games. AWESOME JOB!

Welcome back to the LIGHT, Jim.

8th edition is a solid game, Im glad you and NtK have come around.

I will never forget the games I had with both of you guys at my first OFCC. YEARS AGO!

I played my Skaven against Jims Wood Elves and against NtKs Empire, good times.

  8. I like the newest version of your army it really has some serious damage output which can eliminate proper threats with those WM while some APACHE chaff units go to work helping the small arms get the most out of their ranged weapons, perfect.

Id consider grouping up those thunderers with the xbows to one block of 20 that can possibly reform for some ranks. I feel like 3 blocks of 10 missile troops might be a little fragile at times. Thats just a thought, I would certainly test it out with they vision you have, but consider it if they fail you a few times.

  9. Its a real shame because the Ogre Kingdoms book has some really characterful options that nobody seems to even consider. Id like to see a little more variety of troop choices, the tendency of people to say to themselves, "its great, Ill take two" isnt always the best option in WH fantasy and really doesnt look that great on the table. A little imagination goes a long way in making battlefield decisions.
