  1. I should be there. I'd be down for some 40k, although I've been working on 1000pt lists for the upcoming leauge.

If anybody is into that, give a shout!

Or a 2on2 game with 1000pt lists if there are enough interested parties.

I'll bring 2000pts if no one else bites, Chappy, although in my mind, Mooney had dibs.

  2. I normally would be able to start earlier, but have a meeting I need to be at tonight at 6, so I might be tight getting there by 7:30. If you guys want to start earlier, I'm happy to miss a game and just pop in and say hi. If you wait for me I'm happy to play.

  3. Hi,

Does anyone have a list on which model kits that work best for Mordheim? I've been looking into playing a skirmish level fantasy and/or historical based game, leaning more towards Mordheim or Saga.

Also, it would be awesome to join a group, however, family life makes my schedule is unpredictable. Is it easy to pick up a single Mordheim game once in a while?

    Thanks!

    Jim

Mercs: any gw human boxes work passably. I'm a huge fan of kit bashing, so the more kits the better, IMHO. The free company is literally what came in the original box, minus a couple misc sprues. Empire foot troops of any sort mesh in well for variety. Great swords, archers, hand gunners. Especially if you want the big flowery hats. I also like the Bretonian archers and men at arms, although the variety of equipment isn't as great.

Scavenging a few of each, or buying single models through eBay bit sellers can work if you know what you want.

The reaper bones line has a huge variety if you want more specific looking models. Not sure how the prices are, as mine came through the big helluva desk kickstarter. Worth looking at though.

Skaven: the gutter runners box originally came with the box set. I picked up the slacken pack master kit to get giant rats and a couple rat ogres.

Witch hunters are going to need you to get kit bashing or creative. Low model count and just humans and dogs though.

Possessed will need to be conversion heavy as well, my plans have included a spawn kit for 2 possessed and extra mutations, half of the flaggellant kit for robey bodies and the amethyst wizard from the battle wizard box.

Undead need 1 vampire, 1 necromancer and 3 humans, all could be kit bashed And painted undeady. A zombie box, half a box of ghouls and half a box of dire wolves gets you all the rest of the options. Single models from bit sellers or a buddy might be the best way to go. I've heard good things about mantics undead but haven't seen them myself.

Dwarves: gws troop boxes are really static, but the old starter box gets you close or some warriors and ranger/thunderers. I didn't follow the new release so I'm probably out of date...

Orcs and goblins, Orc boys will get you there, but you might need to add a box of goblins a few squids and a single troll.

Beastmen, the box that used to come with gors and ungors plus some chaos hounds, and a single centigor and Minotaur are all of the options, although you may not need a Minotaur to start. My centigor was a hacked up wolf, a for body and green stuff.

Mauraders box also is handy as humans of various sorts.

That's the official list off the top of my head. Post up if there's something else you were thinking of.

Shoot me a pm and I'm happy to arrange one off random games if it can work.

Leaves me 1gc in the bank.

For my Returning the Favor the group has hired Marianne Altenblum, a scorceress (warlock). She'll need to roll up 2 spells at the start of the game.

    Warband rating is 126

  6. I didnt realize that you can only get one exploration result. Youre supposed to take the highest result, apparently. For instance, if I rolled three 2's and two sixes, I would take the three 2's as its a better result. So last night I got two results, each giving me 1d6 gold. Im going to discard the gold from the lesser of the two events, the corpse I found.

One more thing: henchmen can never go up in a skill twice. So a henchman starting with 3 WS can only ever get up to 4 WS.

Maybe Rhuntar could verify these things, that Im getting this right?

You're right on both of these, as far as I know.

  7. Does anyone have an interpretation on the pike rules? I think Ill run a Tilean warband and I may want to run pikes. The rules entry lists them as being 12 points, but the rules are nearly the same as a spear which is ten, the only difference being it says "close combat 3" rather than "close combat."

I think this means a pikeman can attack from three inches away and so not receive a counter attack? The downside being it is a two handed weapon, and perhaps we could say it cant be used when in base to base? Then the pikeman would have to switch to a dagger or something. Maybe a pikeman could use it to receive a charge and get first attack (just like a spear), but after that round hed have to switch.

    What do you guys think?

I don't know where that warband came from, so I haven't been able to find any other information...

I'm happy with any ruling on it, or you could just buy spears instead and avoid any confusion (although its less flavorful...)

My friend William is going to come with his Woodelf band. Should be a nice addition.

    That's great!

I'll plan to be at GG around 7:30 tomorrow, with a warband.  Hoping to sort out my Reiklanders before tomorrow, or maybe it'll be undead or beastmen if I don't get to work on them.

  8. More detailed rules for mounts are all in the empire in flames supplement.

One thing to note, item costs are sometimes different for a starting warband than they are in the general items list. This is supposed to represent the difficulty of obtaining things in the city as opposed to elsewhere.

Henchmen groups can be of any size, I think. So it's up to you to decide if there are 8 groups of 1, 3 groups, etc... I feel like there might be a max size of 5 in a henchmen group, but that might just be one of my tendencies and not a rule.
