  1. Edited the original post to make the list legal.  Lost 1 gk termie, a sword off of one of the NDK's, 1 biker, swaps Sam for Belail, and flips the RW knights over to HQ (they don't take up a slot).

     

    It loses the pinpoint deep strike from belail, but gains another eternal tank, some snipers, and FNP in the bike unit.

    The list starts with 11 warp charges.

    The librarians are rolling (mostly) in the sanctic tree, looking for both sanctuary and gate of infinity.  The warlord lib is rolling on the GK table and looking for either the 'knows another power' or the 'can auto deep strike turn 1 with a re-roll to scatter'.

     

    The Idea.

     

    This is an all or nothing assault list.  Every part of it wants to get in the enemies face as soon as possible.  It can plan for and take advantage of going second so it can set up closer to the enemy lines.  It hopes to hit its hardest turn 2, having weathered 1 round of shooting, and puts so many threats into play so close that the enemy has difficulty stopping all of them.  

     

    Turn 1 (or 2) has the death wing in close, draigo (hopefully) gating in nearby.  The librarians (hopefully) get sanctuary up adding +1 to invulns.    

    The NDK's either shunt into position now, or make normal jump moves and save shunt for later.  The command squad and sam close range (scout) and use skilled rider to hang in cover.  The snipers babysit an objective and provide harassing fire.

     

    Turn 2 (or 3) one of the librarians with sanctuary joins the death wing unit.

     

    Thoughts?

  3. As far as which list, I like the second. Gain a little flexibility with 2 flyers vs just the 1.

     

    Not being able to DS the star shouldn't be an issue with gate as it does roughly the same thing :) Also, having them on the table turn 1 could let you (to a limited degree) influence your opponents deployment with perceived threat.

     

    As far as having issues with horde, the list is like any other. Strong against lots of builds, and needing a little finess vs others. Comes down to player/mission/dice imo.

     

    With LVO being competitive how would you handle other current meta strong list?

    Eldar? Serpent spam n Wknights.

    Tau? Dice dice and more dice.

    Deamons? Lots of big psychic crap all over, possibly (or not, blessings, lol) disrupting your stars mobility.

    Any mix of the above?

     

    Have you looked at sanctuary (sanctic)? Not huge but would take draigo to super tank levels (2++).

    Have you looked at the FW lib that auto grants invis? (I think :)

     

    Jy2 (dakka/40k/batreps) is trying a similar (centstar) list, if you need more similar data.

     

    Your list looks fun and mean :p I'm eager to see how it performs. Keep us posted :)

  4. I think the wait and see is the right way to play it. Once the book is in front of you you can start to see all the statistical/rule interactions better.

     

    Seems like there have been a few codexs with 'meh' release reactions that turned out to be nasty on the table.

  5. Having not played them ever I can't weigh in on the changes. Besides losing vect, which is a bummer. Hopefully he returns in a Dslate.

     

    Any seasoned DE players care to go over their pros n cons from the new book?

  6. Very spiffy write up, informative and entertaining  :biggrin:.  Thanks for sharing.

     

    The guard sniper reinforces my experiences as well.  Somehow they always seem to pull off something sweet, like a 5 man pcs killing a chaplain that had charged them. :laugh: 

    If you need to kill a terminator, shoot him in the face with a lasgun.  Works (almost) every time.  :wink:

     

    Between this and another post(s) it's looking like mobility is key to maelstrom missions.

  7. Sounds like it was a great weekend :) it's always fun when the games are close.

     

    Looks like the venue had a bit more room, did folks like being able to move around the tables?

     

    Would you change your list to add mobility for 7th/maelstrom?
