scottshoemaker Posted January 2, 2014 Report Posted January 2, 2014 So my nerdling daughter is really into dragons right now, but not at all interested in SciFi. She said she'd play a dragon game, so I figured I'd use the X-Wing system with some house alterations for some dragon battles. Before I embark on this type of project I'd like to get a line on some appropriately sized dragon minis. Man O War Dragon riders would work, but they are spendy, if you can find them. Anybody have a good source for dragons about the size of X-Wing minis? Quote
tombking Posted January 2, 2014 Report Posted January 2, 2014 15mm fantasy minis? http://www.splinteredlightminis.com/reddragon.html http://www.essexminiatures.co.uk/collections/15mm-fantasy/products/dde6 Quote
Sammy Posted January 2, 2014 Report Posted January 2, 2014 10-15mm fantasy is where you need to look for scale on the fighters. Sadly, this does not seem to be a very popular minis scale. The second link from tombking looks promising. "Poorly scaled" small 28mm will probably work for large based ships, take your pic of any number of models. Maybe also extend your search to board games, maybe there's a game with dragon pieces out there. This guy made his own, I'm assuming because 10-15mm scale is so rare: http://turbilminiatures.blogspot.com/2013/10/10mm-dragons.html?m=1 Quote
tombking Posted January 2, 2014 Report Posted January 2, 2014 You could also go with a basic cardstock image or some kind of papercraft thing. The game that X-Wing is based on originally just used cards and later on they started making miniatures for it. Quote
Sammy Posted January 2, 2014 Report Posted January 2, 2014 Try Shapeways. Start here, this looks close to the scale you want: http://nuclearpixel.com/blog/view/2011-03-28_toys_from_2009_-_chantells_dragon_pendant/ Quote
