WOW Deadzone League - Starts 05/05/15

- 3 Month League - Bi-weekly Games

- Missions by card with standard second chance pull, if necessary

- 140 point strike forces with standard campaign progression

- Should we have central storage for upgrades/strike teams to prevent shenanigans?

- Ability to take the Nexus Psi 'Ambush' mission once per league for each player. This can be sprung on your opponent day of game

- Strike Teams are chosen after missions are pulled/announced

- Overall league standing based on W/L

- I'm thinking we can do 'pairings' based off of W/L, but that's negotiable

- Bonus points for painting and league battle reports

Post in this thread if you will be joining with what faction you want. Factions aren't exclusive, so there can be mirror matches. Once you've chosen a faction, feel free to post your 140 point Strike Force and you are good to start your first game on May 5th. We will do first pairings as a first-come / first-serve thing and work on pairings for later weeks as they happen.

so if i take a merc on my strike force. it's with me till the end...unless it dies?

Unless we change the rules, Mercs are a per strike-team (mission) level. You don't pay rep for them, you just add them to your strike team and take a -3 rep modifier at the end of the mission. Makes them disposable and very good when you're low on strike force members due to attrition.

 

So, example:

You're playing Plague and decide you want some sniper backup for the next mission. You add Nastanza to your strike team (but not your Strike Force) and subtract her points from the number you're allowed for the mission. At the end of the mission, you subtract 3 from the number of rep you are awarded and Nastanza goes back out into the world (sans XP, death, etc.).

 

edit: In a side campaign I played, we were allowing people to buy mercs as part of their strike force and avoid the -3 rep. They did cost a clearance though. We also allowed 'in-faction' mercs (Howlett, Simmonds, Ragrad) to not give a -3 to rep. Not sure we want to take that route here. Levelled up Mercs can be VERY powerful.

For notes...

Lost with 9 VP, (7 for survive, 2 for kills)

Spent 6 on rezzes, and have 3 leftover..

I lost two Zoraks,

Two Survey Drones

Two Humans

 

1 Zorak Survived unscathed, +1XP

Commander Rezzed with no complications +1 xp

Strider rezzed with muscle loss, fight is now a 6, He also got two kills, and thus went up to level 2, and rolled a veteran die.  Has 3 xp.

 

All in all, The rebs put up a tough fight, with the strider taking up most of the enforcers attention, while everyone else hunkered down, but we couldn't kill them as quickly as they killed us.  If I just could have pulled through that close combat I would have had it. Good game.

Pretre's Asterians vs Bigglesworth's Plague.

 

I pulled a capture and control mission, he got survive and kill. 

 

Despite early successes (blaze away killing my missile launcher), Mr B just couldn't catch a break in fights. My asterians managed to hold on and eventually push back killing all but four of his dudes. I was down to 3 put ended 9 points to 8 when he timed out on cards.
