Chronus (Ultramarine) question

Detachments are generally built around a core from one Battle Company. Unless it's a truly massive campaign (requiring more than a single Company to fight side-by-side), it's unlikely that Units from another Battle Company would be present in the same warzone, but there might well be Units from the Reserve Companies added in to bolster the force.

What about the scout companies? Never been clear on this one, but isn't every scout marine part of the 10th company? So wouldn't the inclusion of scouts in any army with power armor marines be a mixing of companies?

Oh,  yeah, the 1st and 10th get mixed in as well. The Gladius Strike Force Detachment is actually a really good guideline for the most part. Anything that's in one of the Demi-Companies should be from the same Battle Company, while the Aux Choices would be Attached from other parts of the Chapter. It doesn't really have slots for Units from the Reserve Companies, but those can be represented by taking a CAD alongside or something.

Some of the other Strike Forces do have allowances for that, like the SternHammer, which lets you take extra Dev Squads as Aux Choices, which would be drawn from the 9th Company, for instance.
