Cortland
Aloha from Hawaii all! Well I couldn't stay away from the hobby long and will be starting up a Imperial Fist chapter to play here. I was looking to get the proper chapter insignia for the shoulder pads on my normal power armor marines (since Terminator pads are available readily on ForgeWorld.) However I'm not a fan of the particular ones on GWs website as of now (with the studs). I ran across an old set of metals and was curious how these fit on the newer plastics? I've heard some people complain that they are too small. Is this noticeable? Any insight or possibly other options would be GREATLY appreciated. I do know for example that Chapterhouse made a set but unfortunately they are embroiled in their lawsuit with GW so their webstore is down right now. Provided is a link to the old production metal GW shoulderpads that I was looking at so far. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Warhammer-40K-Marine-Imperial-Fist-Shoulder-Pad-Lot-1-x10-/390953683871

Check these out and possibly other stuff on the site: http://www.shapeways.com/model/572294/20-28mm-custom-shoulder-pad-lightning-fist.html?materialId=
Cortland
Those might be about as close as I've seen, would love just the fist without the lightning but this is pretty darn close.
WestRider
Ooh, I might have to get some of those for my Crimson Thunder (usually Crimson Fists Counts As), at least for Veterans and Sergeants and stuff.
InfestedKerrigan
I've had great experience with the Nightlords Metal going on the plastic. You know, outside the obnoxious ears. They also switched it over to Resin. I thought they had with the entire line, is this not the case? http://www.games-workshop.com/en-US/Crimson-Fists-Shoulder-Pads This pack contains ten Crimson Fists Shoulder Pads - a finely detailed resin cast set. BrainFireBob
They're a bit smaller. Depending on pose, it doesn't show, but I find it works best if you also apply the "marked" pads on the other side- for instance, the same-sized Tactical pad opposite the Fist, etc. I agree, it looks really nice when done- it's the different sizes that can be a problem. InfestedKerrigan
I'm guessing I haven't had that problem since the NL pads have different size designs on them. Good to know, though!
BrainFireBob
Basic rule of thumb is that the old pewters were smaller- anything that's an update of those will be (For instance, the IW pads, which I use). New designs- of which the NL are one- are larger. (I also use these)
WestRider
It's also a bit less obvious with Chaos Models, since there's more variation on there anyhow. I have some of the old metal shoulderpads on some of my Word Bearers, and yeah, they're a little smaller, but there's so much irregularity on the models anyhow that it doesn't really stand out the way it would on more uniform Imperials. Cortland
Yes the ones with the studs are resin and would fit perfectly, I just dont like the studs personally, and i dont want to file them all off. =(
