A Greek Tragedy

Following the OFCC I decided to work on a new army!  Shocking I know...

For Father's Day, my lovely wife bought me the new Aleph Steel Phalanx 300pt starter army.  The list below are the figures from that box set.  Once I get a few more figures, I will be able to run different lists.

Well the only tragedy tonight was my horrible game play. Half of my force died on turn one in my deployment zone but they looked good doing it.  I love the look of the Steel Phalanx. I have more figs on the way in the hopes to flush out my force.

Give the Fireteam: Enomatarchos rules another read-through, I think if you had been running two 4-man links, things could have gone differently.

I am still awaiting my new figs from Miniature Market.  In the mean time, here is a list that I wish to try out.  Light on button pushing but without Thorakites I am limited...

I have the basic Steel Phalanx boxset coming.  It has 3 Thorakites, the Myrmadon Hacker, Agema Missile Launcher and Eudorous.  I also ordered up some robits - the Total Reaction HMG and Guided Missile bots.  Also coming are Dracos and Scylla with their flame thrower Devabots. Lastly Atlanta the mighty sniper is also coming. I think that is all that I ordered for now.  I need to find the Dire Foes Mission Pack #2 that has Thrasmeydes in it.  He will make a great addition and I can also use him as my Spec Ops.

How should I field the Enomotarchos teams?

Group1: Hector, Machaon, and 2 Myrmadons with Chain rifles. 

Group 2: Phoenix, Myrmadon Officer, 1 Myrm Chain rifle, and Myrm Hacker. 

This is how I was thinking about running them. Is this good or am I missing some other combo? I'd rather not run the Hacker in the group but it will have to do for now.

The Thorakites are where most of the cheap specialists are. I plan to add a F.O. and Paramedic (when I'm not running Machaon). Plus these are my cheaper troops. Adding in Thorakites I can get a second combat group. Also Dactyls bring cheap hackers and engineers. So there going to be added sometime soon.

Hector Spitfire, or Hector Plasma?

If it's the former, G1 seems just fine, the group lacks ranged threat otherwise.

The Myrm hacker in that group might be a good idea to take a little bit of the heat off Hector's HI, probable Lieutenant body, and provide counterhacking upfield, instead of backline.

Try squeezing in a Spitfire Myrm.  B5, ODD Spitfire, that also has smokes. Win Win Win.

Phoenix is not a solo ARO piece.  He needs the burst + SSL2 from a full Enomatarchos link to be effective.

Each unit has two huge hitters and also point sinks. Since the hacker needs to push buttons, he may wish to be with Phoenix.

I would prefer one hitter, one specialist, and two body guards per Enomotarchos.

It seems a better choice to have a Phoenix in an  Enomotarchos, but is a huge point sink. 91 points and 3 SWC for a three man team.

In general, I prefer spitfires, but a plasma carbine is a better weapon.

I like Thorakites are flank protectors and button pushers, but I wonder if they should be running with Hector.

I could get the Spitfire Myrm by dropping the Myrm Officer; lower cost at 31 vs 35 and same SWC. Is that a better choice?

I hope (and hope is not a plan!) to move the link quickly up the table.  Pene and the Ekdromos are quick on their own.  Not many bodies once i start bleeding troops.
