It’s 1985 and the Cold War Has Gone HOT!
The US 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment (and other NATO allies) is defending the Fulda Gap (Germany) from a horde of Soviet and East German Tanks. As the NATO Commander, can you hold the line against the Armored Ride Tide? As the Warsaw pact Commander, can you punch through the NATO defenses? Which team will have the last soldier standing? A battle for 4-6 Team Yankee commanders. Bring your own forces, 100-point list, or borrow one of ours*. Game masters will add supporting forces, above the 100-points. EXPERIENCE required RECOMMENDED, as the pace will be FAST and the action will be INTENSE. chgd JUN 7

we will create a pool of support for each team, using the support options in the force diagram. Since we will have 2-3 force on each team, expect to see more than one of each type of support. We will try to have the same number of points of support for each team. The support pool will be centrally controlled by a team member.

So when you build your force list, you can include anything that is in your formation(s). Leave the  support units out of your 100 pts. Please DO list them below and DO bring them for the team support pool of resources.

For NATO, we need a US Armored cavalry force, or a British Medium Recce Squadron for the Covering Force part of the battle.

For the Warsaw Pact, barca will throw together a Reconnaissance Detachment or Forward Detachment from his own models for the Covering Force part of the battle.

1. Yes, here: http://www.ordofanaticus.com/topic/210317-draft-calendar-for-flames-of-war-and-team-yankee-events/

2. Shop owners in Oregon City and PDX have greater demand for new, shiny products (like Blood and Plunder) and big sellers (like MTG). So when they do run/organize events, those are the ones they get involved in. Historical games (e.g. Flames of War) are left to Energetic proponents and promoters (read gamers/grognards) to organize events themselves, with occasional prize support from shops.

3. BTW, I can add to the listing any regular or special events that are outside the PDX area.

The full-blown version of this might occur in August, depending on a number of factors.

  • I plan on doing a smaller version of this scenario (two 4'x6' tables, short side adjacent) with some playtesters on Saturday, July 14.
  • The core of the scenario rules and admin pieces should be ready by then.
  • More details next week.

BTW, if someone really wants to test their skills and bring their own US Armored Cav Sqdn, this would be a great opportunity. If we don't have such a force available, then we will use a NATO mech force.
