  1. Best build for me has been TL fusion plus flamer. I add one shield drone to the unit, to protect me from the direction of instant death weapons when I drop. It's a very very flexible loadout . Doesnt matter who I face, those suits are a pain in the rear, and hard to charge because the Wall of Death you get from three flamers is pretty nice.
  2. I won 5 tournies out of the first six I played in using the white dwarf sisters codex. By the way, using a list that included the canoness and her command squad, plus one of everything in the codex. So unfortunately your internet "sources" will have to bark up another tree. Didnt Mikhailenin go 3rd at NOVA using sisters and gk allies? And I've seen pre tre have success. Crudacce did fine on the codex. So...my point was...in all fairness, perhaps we should not be so hasty.
  3. On topic: Swarmlords look like a bad ass version of nemesor Zhandrek that acts like an Autarch Strategist, that instant kills everyone he sees, meets a shut down Librarian with this: P: +6'' synapse (not Sitw) [weak primaris] 1: FnP for unit and one additional unit (buffed) 2: Pin test at -2(maybe -3) [iirc same] 3: can run and shoot (the same) 4: minus d3 WS & BS to a unit for a round (nerfed) 5: nova 2d6+2 vs ld (can only take invul saves against) (same) 6: Warpblast in its current form (same) Dayam. He may be a lot of points, but he is kinda awesome. Now I have USED the Nemesor a lot. Let me tell you something: the ability to grant Furious Charge, Monster Hunter, or Preferred Enemy is awesome. It makes what looks like a really "okay" unit a lot MORE than okay unit for ITS cost. Hmm. I think they overdid the points on it, but I certainly see why. The reserve gambit is strong in this army...
  4. Never read any books by him...or any Warhammer author so... I think you mean Robin Crudacce? Unless you count codex's in which case i have to say: Codex Space marines looked fine to me. I liked PLaying Sisters of Battle from the White Dwarf and he did some of that with Matt Ward (who I do not prefer). I'll admit: the old Tyranid codex was kind of a victim of timing. It was terribly timed. Given a few months of retrospect, i think that codex would have been a little different. He wrote the Imperial Guard codex which is STILL very good as its own army and a preferred ally of many forces. It feels like his only real MAJOR miss (minor gripes aside because no one is perfect) was the Tyranids and that had a LOT in my opinion, to do with its timing and what came RIGHT on its heels. FAQ's, rules and new codex's all boned the Tyranids in one form or fashion. But then again, they did VERY well in tournies after 6E temporarily turned them into the mightiest psyker race of all time. orks be damned! Just trying to be fair minded.
  5. Wow. Lots of passion. Well, the thing to do (says the master tinkerer) is to take all the stuff that HAS changed, throw it in a list and start learning what its about. Then slowly move to more normal lists after you see WHY the heavily altered units or whatever were altered. Sometimes the problem is that the lists you USED to use dont work as well but newer ones work EXCEEDINGLY well (and "cha-ching" says GW, i know, I know). Sometimes we want the square peg in the round hole so bad we dont even notice that the hole is a triangle now.
  6. Quick!!!! Everyone panic where you stand! There's oxygen EVERYWHERE!!! In other news: a new codex arriveth.
  7. Scope my blog for tau posts if youre interested. Tau is my main army
  8. Well, I am glad its repairable. Ion Cannons are awesome sauce. Know them. Use them. Love them.
  9. I have no idea what just happened here. Lol
  10. I look forward to seeing more bugs about. I really do hope they don't make the "best builds" godzilla movies. Id like to see a ton of variety.
  11. K. I seem to be phone illiterate because I seem not to be able to view it right when I do that. Maybe I need someone to show me how to flip it.
  12. Thoughts? Other than we need a paint night badly?
  13. Heya. I had one last game of Warhammer at my home, since I may not be able to for a couple weeks (surgery is tomorow!). Decided to put it on Youtube. Never done that before so kinda fun to learn how. Not too difficult. Here's the link: Feel free to tell me how I can make these better. I already know a couple things I messed up on. I enjoyed playing a close combat army. Been a while since I did, since its generally not my style of play regardless of the army. But Night Lords are my close combat army for sure. Melee is not dead!
  14. I just pray they address is ONE way or another. Its not the rules I sometimes dislike. Its the players who are "cloudy" on what they "meant". Yes because its so complcated to figure out right? Please, clarity Gawds...shine on this as you shone so clearly on Warhammer 8th edition (the rules were drek but the clarity was awesome)
  15. Oh incidentally, the list was, essentially, this (out of town so dont have it in front of me to directly quote): 4 units 5 Chaos Marines (Power weapons + Meltabombs I think? I think I armed them) 3 Rhinos (destroyer blades and dirge casters) Land Raider Level 3 Sorcerer (Tzeenthc with Psychic Shriek, Breathe of Chaos and Doom Bolt) 3 units of 1 Nurgle Mutilators 2 units 15 Khornate Raptors (2 x meltas, Boon on the Champions, Power+Meltabomb) 5 Havocs (2 flakk, 2 Lascannons)

  17. Rest assured that you can play without allies with no problems.
