  1. Jayne Mansfield's Car: 8.5/10

Great performances from some veteran actors (Robert Duvall, Billy Bob Thornton, Kevin Bacon, John Hurt) made the movie for me. Interesting story about 2 different families (1 Southern American, 1 English) coming together for a funeral.

    Kickass 2: 7/10

Decent storyline, not half as interesting as the first one was, but OK for a rental. I wished it had more action sequences; it seemed like this one focused more on themes and character development than the first one.

    The Lone Ranger: 7.5/10

This one was surprising to me. I was genuinely entertained by the movie, but had issues with the plot and characterization. Really thought they could have done better for such a classic hero, but I guess all big-budget popcorn movies end up being similar. Also, I feel like Tonto shouldn't have been portrayed so much as a buffoon and it should have been a Native American actor in the role.

  2. Fellow members of Ordo Fanaticus,

With the start of a new calendar year, we once again have an opportunity for any and all members to become Champions of Ordo Fanaticus. A Champion is defined in the the Ordo charter as a member in good standing; i.e., a member who has contributed to the financial support of the club. It is with this support that Ordo is able to provide the following services:

The Ordo Fanaticus web site- the online forums, galleries, blogs, and most importantly, the bandwidth needed to keep the site operating.

The OF clubhouse (aka WOW)- the site for all Ordo game nights, open gaming, and other events.

OFCC- the yearly big event for all wargamers in the Pacific NW.

Ordo terrain collection- all the terrain that sees use at GN and OFCC

Ordo Fanaticus currently offers 4 tiers of Champion dues. These are listed below, along with the respective benefits.

    Emperor level: $100 per year

Free Game Night admission for entire year

Reduced admission to all official OF events

Raffle for free ticket to OFCC of your choice

    Designated Champ Badge

    Warlord Level: $30 per year

Reduced Game Night admission for entire year ($2 per night)

Reduced admission to all official OF events

If you wish to join the ranks of the 2014 OF Champions, there are two ways to do so. Payment can be made in person at any OF Game Night (Sunday or Tuesday). Alternatively, payment can also be made through the Ordo Store (click on the following link).

If you use the Ordo store, please make sure to include your forum name, along with your real name.

Finally, Ordo wishes to extend a hearty thank-you to all who become champions in 2014. It is because of your gift that we can continue to expand and maintain Ordo Fanaticus as the premiere wargaming club in the Pacific Northwest and beyond!

  3. Seems like everyone is taken at this dance. I got involved late (had a pet die this weekend, so taking care of those arrangements was difficult) so I'm no surprised.  When does the glactic empires thing start? I'm kinda planning that as my grand return to 40k. So i'll see you all next week!

The Planetary Empires campaign was supposed to start tonight, but Bronson had to move it back a week. So, the official new start date is the 1/21 GN.

  4. James, if you can't get anyone else for a teaching game, I would be glad to do so.

If James does find another opponent, I will be looking for a 2k game of 40k. I really need some practice with my list, prior to the start of the Planetary Empires campaign (1/14!)
