  1. Hello Ordo,

I am going to be working on my Mortifactors after I finish my current project. I want these White Scars bits from the Primaris upgrade pack. The arms with the skulls are most important, but the belt hanging skulls woudl be nice. I don't play Scars, so I don't want to buy whole packs for a few bits. Does anyone have any of these they'd part with? Or, if you are a White Scars player, I would split these packs with you. We could work out how much each person pays, etc... I'm willing to do the buying, if needed. Paypal and shipping could happen if you can't meet up in the Vancouver/PDX area.

  2. Missed the asterisk at the bottom, which is an important clarification. No more declaring crazy multi-charges.

    * In the new edition, your charge roll has to be sufficient to reach ALL of the units you have declared a charge against, otherwise your charge is unsuccessful and no models are moved.

The problem wasn’t that shooting was too good for “shooty armies,” it was that it was too good for all armies. Factions that should have played with a blending of shooting and assault coughSpaceMarinescough were opting to lean hard into gun-line lists.

This seems like a much better design paradigm: Universally nerf shooting in general rules, then boost the shooting of a specific subset of factions via supplements.

It’ll be rough for Tau and Imperial Guard for a few months, tops.

I think you've nailed it. Shooting was too good overall. They needed to nerf it across the board, then carve out exceptions for specialist armies/units. My hyperbole and sarcasm wasn't translating. 🙂

8th was a shooting edition. Saying shooting is hosed due to a change in Overwatch is just...

I've been watching every twitch stream or VOD with the developers. They have literally said that shooting was too prevalent, so they wanted to make changes so that it wasn't as dominant. I'm not claiming Overwatch is the deathknell... But they have done a lot to reduce the power of shooting, this is one more thing. Terrain blocking line of sight, cover assisting with saves against shooting buy not against charging units, etc. There are lots of things. This is just a big one. I don't have a gunline army, so it's not a huge deal to me personally, but it's sad for my wife's tau.

  5. Watching the Twitch stream...

Overwatch now requires that you spend 1CP to shoot. They mentioned all other abilities, like the Tau's ability to help out, only triggering once the CP is spent to shoot. They mentioned a veteran ability called Cool-Headed that lets a unit shoot Overwatch without spending the CP. Some units will have this by default. I assume this will be the case for current units that are specialists at Overwatch right now.

Defensible Terrain makes your overwatch hit on 5 if you "hold steady". It also allows you to "set to defend" to get +1 to hit on the next Fight phase.

This was an intentional buff to Combat Armies, so they aren't always mowed down as they charge.

This is all coming from Stu Black.

  6. I agree Ish. The Ynnari are a great way to do some cross polination. I was going to do some DE things, but in my Craftworld's aesthetic. (Wraiths, dead, faceless, clean) If someone did an Autarch, but it was totally Dark Eldar, I'd just applaud the dope conversion.

I really don't want the character of DE to become: the [big bad swear word]ty yet cheap eldar. Craftworlders are HUGE winners based on the leaks, DE seem to be forgotten (as usual).

I have an eldar army, and I don't totall agree. Sure, shooting while moving the tanks will be nice, but we had a 5pt upgrade for that already. I assume that DE and Eldar will get new advantages, or discounts. We used to get "charged" for those abilities, but now that they are universal, it shouldn't be considered in the overall value. If everyone get's a 20% point increase, i would assume that the things that got weaker would increase less. I'll be pretty pissed if they don't help somehow. I'm not worried about the smaller board, but I think that losing the stacking hit penalties is going to hurt. Alaitoc isn't playable anymore, because lots of things have native -1, and now it won't stack. Might as well just do Uthwe, even though it's strictly worse mechanically.

When GW first rolled out the Primaris units, they didn't give Sergeants any upgrade options at all... and a few months later, they reversed that. I'm going to assume that Primaris Outrider Sergeants will have power swords by the time the proper multipart kit hits the shelves, even if they only have chainswords in the Indomitus box. The real "x factor" for these guys is going to be their points cost. There's already a salty thread about them on r/AdeptusCustodes where people are moaning about how much better they are than the Dawneagle Jetbikers.

I agree, the point cost will be the key. If they are under 50, they will be a solid value. 42 would be solid imo.
I was thinking of getting some of these to fill in squads, then the multi-part kit for sgts, etc. I assume we'll get a Lt. and/or Cap on bike at some point, since they love to have Lts and Caps in varied set ups.

  9. No photo description available.

4 wounds is solid. On the twitch stream, they mentioned that these guys get +2 attacks on the charge. All included, a regular Outrider gets 6 attacks when charging, according to the GW guy on twitch. Yeah, that's solid af. I assume they won't get wargear options, but if the sgt can take a power weapon or hammer, that would be ideal. Doubt it though.

  10. Do it! I play a custom chapter, so I made a squad of fancier jumpers, with a bit more black in the overall scheme. When I use the BA dex, they are Death Company. Otherwise, I either use them as Vanguard Vets, or just take singles out and use them as Sgts in regular Jump squads. I've never had anyone complain or bother me about it. I guess it's one of the few benefits of playing a rules-agnostic chapter.

  11. Well, I got about 2k of Eldar for 600ish, all new. I think that's pretty reasonable. If the the new total is 20% fewer models, it would take some price increases to make it pencil out in their favor.

  12. I got the white bits glued on, and I'm mid way through painting them. I used Corax White primer, then Apothecary Contrast paint. I will be doing a little clean up with some corax white from a pot, and then highlights with titanium white from windsor newton. I wanted super bright white, so I hope this works out. The back up is some white scar white. I hope to have something to show later today.

  13. Funny that you say that about the aesthetics...
I said "screw that. they are just trying to get me to buy more stuff. I already have marines." After a while, I learned that I really dig this new look. My old models look lame to me. The only thing I like is a few of my conversions. The dudes look like squats now. lol.

  14. I say it's ugly... but the more I make fun of it with buddies on messenger, the more I want 2 for my army. I think some bikes and buggies could be fun. I want to put a big xenos skull on the front as a hood ornament. Mortifactors like skulls. 🙂
