I wouldn't worry about the PAK43 as they are trained and limiting on abilities compared to US Mortars or US Artillery. Also, read the 'UNDER COMMAND' rule for the US special rules.

okay I dont know what a Jackson is. Nor the P47. Is p47 a plane? sounds like one. I am TRULY uninitiated in the Allied side of things.
But this sounds like fun. I do like the greyhound. I am familiar with them. Saw them played recently. I have enough PaK43's actually to do that I think. They are the super big, super long barrelled German guns right?.
The M36 Jackson is a bigger version of the M10 Wolverine. AT 14 instead of AT 13.
The P47 Thunderbolt, or 'Jug', was the workhorse fighter plane for the US. Today's A10 Tunderbolt was named after it.
You can get the Chaffee in platoons of 3, 4, or 5. and you can run either Confident Trained or Confident Veteran.
They are; front armor 4, side 2, top 1, speed 16" like a stuart, but they have the gun of a sherman, ROF 2, AT 10, FP 3+. and they still have stablizer.
Start with:
HQ: 2x Chaffee
1: 4x Chaffee
2: 4x Chaffee
3: 4x Chaffee
TD: 4x M36 Jackson with security section
AIR: priority P47, or limited if your squeezing points
Suggested add-in would be Armored Mortars and/or cheap recon.

can you mix allied & axis? or do both players have to be on one side or the other.
-
Sounds like you need a butt-load of Chaffees, M36 Jacksons, and a P47. Oh, and the Devil's Charge book.

Who all has what type of forces?
-
hmmm, looks like we all got busy. Work kept me over as well.

Looks like BF is selling off their entire Vietnam Line at 40% off. Now is the time to get in.
I have always been ogling over a few lists, any comments about them? Which ones the most fun, which one is the easiest to handle, which is the hardest/most complex.
Looking to purchase a basic starting force, plus a support option or two at the most.
1. US AirCav. Along the line of Hal Moore. Love the movie and that would have been my dad in there if he wasn't in a debiltating jeep accident just prior.
2. US Helicopter Cav. Lots of choppers with the Loachs, Hogs, and Hueys with a platoon of aircav.
3. US Black Horse. looks like some interesting doom tracks.
4. US Heavy Armor. A unit centered around the M46 patton tank.

What kind of germans are you talking about. I specialize in painting vehicles for CGR. Just look at stuff done by Zeeck. I don't particularly enjoy painting the little dudes. I can do it, just don't enjoy it as much. I also work on the trade & barter system.
Steve McCuen organizes all the CGR stuff for us Portland group of painters. His gang and Ryan McGee have been doing the little dudes. They are usually patrolling these boards if you need to contact them.

I don't have troubles killing Panthers, they are only side armor 5. Hell, even my stuarts have been killing them. Although, it is still fun bouncing panther shots off my shermans, and occasionally from the side. It'll be nice to see other lists.

I will plan out a couple 1650 lists, american and german.
Looks like it's 1650 LW for March.
-
I'm the opposite. I can paint at a professional level, but my game play is stuck at kid level. At tournaments I usually go for 'Best Painted' and just have fun with everything else.
-
Lately its just been Ryan & I playing. He brings Panthers, I bring Jumbos. kinda getting tired of the usual, looking for something different.
-
Other than NO PANTHERS and NO JUMBOS, you got any ideas?
I've been bringing E, M, and L, just in case anybody besides Ryan & I show up.

the CIC and 2ic does not incure the +1 to range in when ranging in for any units from COMBAT or WEAPONS platoons.
Essentially it allows the Company CIC and 2IC to act as normal spotters for such things as
Armored Mortars,
Assault gun m4(105) shermans,
Regimental Gun M3 105 howitzer,
M3 Scotts
That is why American Tankers always take armored mortars. They are the cheapest smoke bombardment and you have 2 possible (non-penalty) observers running around.
