I dunno if they held Frankie back so much as he just didn't consider sharing specific rules. On the frontline site his articles were always at the surface level. The focus reads very much like each of them.

I have info privy to the topic as an FLG writer.

  2. Like holy cow man. If the hype is to believed, then we shall see so many variations of forces out on the tabletop. That is something I am very excited to see. It also appears having well rounded tool like lists will also be a good thing.

Well... I don't know about that. It depends on the powers in their bubbles.

If Azrael still gives a 6" 4++ bubble and you put him next to 60 wolves, and you can still cast invisibility on them and the TWC lord can Heroic over when they charge/get charged, you get effectively the same thing without the Star appellation.

"Instead, you’ll tend to find that a lot of Characters will have an ability that affects nearby units with a certain Keyword within a radius of effect"

I think they will mitigate this with Azrael giving that 4++ bubble to Faction: Dark Angel units. There may still be Faction type Death Stars, but hopefully not as bad as we have now.

A guest contributor who is heavily involved in the tourney scene saying certain models don't get play cuz they blow isn't the same as GW admitting that some units are actually bad.

But a guest contributor who is a tourny player who loves the fluff of Chaos but won't play certain units because they are bad and is now saying that you will want to run units x,y,and z becasue he is a playtester and has been putting a ton of time into playtesting this edition. He now is telling us a lot without actually telling us things. While this article could have been better with some actual rules and unit info, it shows that GW is taking a lot of different voices into the game to make it the best it can be (hopefully they won't blow it).

With the switch to wounds maybe landraiders will get so many they are worth their points! Maybe a rule that ignores effectiveness reductions who knows yay all new 40k!

I for one would be super excited to see Land Raiders more often on the field! They are such a cool kit!

  6. I wanna punch someone in the pit that has a problem with Wonder Woman's pits. Apparently there was a recoloring "fiasco" that had people up in "arms".

Seems a silly waste of energy and time to be upset by this.

I understand assaulting will be viable. But by the look of it now you have to have a good armor save like a space marine. Orks get no saves, this is a world of difference.

I'd say speculating and worry too much right now is a waste of time. I'm trying to be more optimistic in this next edition as I stated in my article on FLG - https://www.frontlinegaming.org/2017/04/29/its-the-end-of-7th-as-we-know-it-and-i-feel-fine/

I mean, I"m a bit "worried" as I started a whole new Tzeentch army before the edition change and have to wait and see how it is impacted.

  8. I've heard from playtesters that assault armies will be viable, I'm sure units like Boyz and Berserkers will have rules to aide in the narrative of their bloodthirsty nature.

I'm excited that morale is once a turn instead of once each phase, it really feels like GW is taking streamlining into advice and doing many things to make the game play faster and more efficiently. How many times have we forgotten a unit took casualties and didn't take a test and then shot, then rolled for leadership to back up and failed and ran off the table? I am enjoying all these streamlines.

I can, again, virtually guarantee there won't be facings.  Vehicles and MCs are going to be identical for the most part.

Facings were always complicated and sometimes confusing (I've never heard a convincing argument one way or the other on the facings of Knights, Valkyries, or Eldar Skimmers, we all kind of winged it).  Best to scrap them entirely, honestly.  Again, the game is going for streamlined, and checking facings and precise model movement are anathema to speedy play.

    Your reasoning has reasoning...
