o What: Speed PAINTING TOURNAMENT! o When: Friday, August 16th from 6– 9 pm (Tentatively) o Where: OFCC at the Hilton in Downtown Vancouver o Number of Players (min/max): 4/16 o Timing: Four, 20 Minute Rounds with 15 minute breaks/judging between o Event Style: Bracket Tournament o Cost: $5. o Scoring: Straight up head to head competition in brackets. Winners advance. Audience judges each model. Cleanest, most complete wins the round. o Prizes: First, you get to keep all of the minis that you paint. Second, the winner will walk away with not just the knowledge that they are the fastest brush at OFCC, but… will also get a $50 Gift Certificate to Mindtaker Miniatures! Do you like to take your time and apply two thin coats when one would probably suffice? This may not be the event for you. Participants will be going head-to-head in a bracketed speed painting competition. You will have 20 minutes to paint your miniature. When finished, the judges and crowd will determine the best mini and the winner will progress to the next round. Participant Info · Primed, assembled miniatures will be provided for each round (and are secret until the round starts). · Basic paints and brushes will be provided for contestants but you are allowed, nay encouraged, to bring your own materials. · Please arrive early with enough time to set up your painting area, once set up you will not have to change locations. There will be 15-minute breaks between rounds for cleaning/resetting. · Be prepared for a wide range of subject matter, from AoS to 40K, organic to machine. Primer color will vary as well from round to round. · Completion to tabletop standard is the objective but there is no bonus to finishing earlier than the allotted time. · You are encouraged to join the judging if eliminated. · There will be crowd participation, countdowns and such. Miniature Painting Contest When & Where: March 30th, 9:30am to 2:00pm at the Angel of the winds Arena Grand Ballroom in Everett. During the board game & miniature swap meeting #10 quarterly event. Rules Bases - Miniatures Must be on a solid base in one of six basic shapes. Circle, square, Oval, Rectangle, hexagon or octagon. Base Must be 25mm - 200mm. Bases must be painted, flocked or otherwise finished. If your miniatures are set into a piece of wood they must be on a magnet systems or otherwise locked down. Figure count - As many as you can fit. One base is the entry fee of $5 regardless of the figure count on that base. Dioramas are allowed as long as they follow all the rules. Color requirements - 3 colors or shades of colors. Ballot box - Every entry will get a plain 4x4x4 inch box for ballots to be cast. As a personal flare you can make your own box. But it must have a hole big enough to fit an oreo cookie on top. Must be 4x4x4 inches. Submission time - All miniatures must be in no later then 10:00am the morning of the event. We will allow you 1 hour more time at the cost of you losing votes. osted 18/02/2019 Battle Sister Bulletin: Part 1 – Adepta Sororitas Iconography Welcome to your very first Battle Sister Bulletin! As promised in the Las Vegas Open Warhammer Preview, we’re going to be keeping you up to date throughout the entire process with all the latest developments as the new miniatures range takes shape. In our inaugural bulletin, we’ll be taking a look at some of the concept art that has helped to define the iconography across the new range. One of the most integral features of Warhammer 40,000 is the iconography that helps define each faction (apart from the Tyranids – though we’re sure that the Hive Mind probably experimented with bio-banners at some point…). From the symbolic allegiance denoted by the Imperial Aquila to icons such as the blood drop of the Blood Angels or the skull rune of Khorne’s followers, such imagery is an intrinsic part of Warhammer 40,000. When it came to redesigning the Adepta Sororitas range, the iconography was, therefore, one of the first aspects that the design team looked at. Here is a selection of some of the earliest concept sketches, and they feature an interesting juxtaposition within them. Many contrast softer themes such as wings, angels and flowers with stronger, more aggressive ones – the roses are complemented by thorny briars and clenched fists, while the ornate chalices are accompanied by skulls, swords and flames. The iconic fleur-de-lys – the unifying symbol used by the Adepta Sororitas and the non-militant orders that support them – also regularly appears throughout. Of course, each Order of the Adepta Sororitas has its own iconographical nuances too. As the spiritual inheritors of the Daughters of the Emperor, the Order of the Ebon Chalice, for example, take much of the inspiration for their iconography from their part in the execution of the traitorous High Lord Goge Vandire. Images such as severed heads and relic blades are clear references to the violent, but storied, origins of the Order. Once the Adepta Sororitas iconography has been conceptualised, it can help to influence some of the details on the miniatures themselves.
