  1. Every imperial army is going to find 85 points now. 🙂
  2. Oh, that makes so much more sense. I thought you spent $80 printing FAQS. 🙂
  3. That could be the tagline for practically every board game GW put's out.
  4. New Models, Games and Funko POP! at the New York Toy Fair A new line-up of Warhammer board games are on their way, ready to enthral the next generation of gamers. Today, we’re unveiling them for the first time at the New York Toy Fair, alongside some exciting news on Warhammer 40,000 Funko POP! and the next seasons of Space Marine Heroes. Let’s start with the three new board games, designed for new gamers, and coming later this year to bookshops and selected stores. Combat Arena Combat Arena is a fast-paced miniatures combat game that pits you against your friends in lighting-quick bouts of tactical action. Set aboard an Imperial vessel, the game sees each player pick a hero and battle it out, mastering their distinct fighting styles and abilities to claim victory. Each of these champions is represented by a brand-new model from classic and fan-favourite units of yore such as the Crusader and Primaris Psyker – not to mention a new Rogue Trader!* In fact, the set is a prequel to Warhammer Quest: Blackstone Fortress, and that ancient structure has further perils in store for them – keep an eye out for them in an upcoming adventure pack… Stormvault The Mortal Realms are ripe for adventure – filled with hidden treasures to find, monsters to slay, and heroes in search of glory. Very soon, you’ll be able to embark on such an adventure yourself in a new cooperative game for 2-5 players. With optional difficulty levels, random events and each hero possessing their own distinct abilities, there are hours of replayability in this box. Dreadfane Next, we’ve got Dreadfane – a Warhammer Underworlds game that offers a new twist on the ultimate competitive miniatures game. Designed to be perfect for beginners, you’ll be able to battle through a streamlined version of the game, balancing taking out your opponent with a host of hazards, like falling meteors, beams of magical energy and more. Each match promises to be a nail-biter right up until the last moment. And while both warbands will initially be exclusive to the set, we should see them available separately in the not too distant future. While Dreadfane is aimed at newer players, veteran explorers of the Mirrored City will be able to pit their current warbands against the terrors of the Dreadfane. The set will also be the first place you can get two new Warhammer Underworlds warbands – Ironsoul’s Condemnors and Lady Harrow’s Mournflight. Each has their own cards and fighters and, once you’ve mastered Dreadfane, can be taken into the main game. Warhammer 40,000 Funko POP! The New York Toy Fair has also given fans their first look at the much-anticipated Warhammer 40,000 Funko POP! range in the flesh (figuratively speaking – they’re actually made of vinyl).** Ensconced in their cardboard drop pods, they’re ready to assault your shelves very soon – don’t they look nice? Space Marine Heroes: Season 2 After the success of Space Marine Heroes: Season 1 across the world, we’re very excited to announce that Season 2 will be arriving on shelves near you shortly! Currently only available in Japan, this wave of Space Marine Heroes features some incredible Terminator models and will soon be making their way to other parts of the world. Space Marine Heroes: Season 3 Meanwhile, in Japan, Space Marine Heroes: Season 3 has been confirmed. We’ve had Ultramarines Tactical Marines, Blood Angels Terminators – who knows what the third wave could bring? That’s all from the New York Toy Fair! We’ll have more news on all of the above soon, with further details on when and where you’ll be able to get your hands on them – in the meantime, let us know what you’re most excited about on the Warhammer 40,000, Warhammer Age of Sigmar and Warhammer Underworlds Facebook pages! * Typical – you wait decades for a new Rogue Trader model, and three come along at once… ** While a Funko POP! made of flesh would be appropriately grimdark, it turned out to be somewhat impractical in the planning stages.

  10. The new-and-improved Flesh-eater Courts are almost upon us, and there’s never been a better time to start an army. Flesh-eater Courts are very flexible, with a range of potential Battleline options and powerful army builds. Today, we’re looking at one of the most unusual available in the new battletome, focused around using as many monsters as possible. We’re aiming for a 2000-point force, built using matched play restrictions, but you’ll find this list loads of fun for open and narrative play too… Step 1: Picking the Grand Court The most important step with every Flesh-eater Courts army is deciding if you want to field your army as a Grand Court or not, and if you’ve chosen the former, which to go for. For monster-themed Flesh-eater Courts armies, you’ll likely want to pick Gristlegore, as this Grand Court makes Royal Zombie Dragons and Royal Terrorgheists count as Battleline units. Additionally, your Monsters and Heroes get a nifty boost to their power in close combat from the Peerless Ferocity rule. Call to War, the unique Gristlegore command ability, is also well suited to monster-based army, allowing you to deal some extra damage to anyone who’d dare take down your favourite beast. Step 2: The Battleline With Gristlegore as our Grand Court, you can get to the fun stuff straight away – grabbing as many massive Monsters as we can! You’ll want to start this army with two Royal Zombie Dragons and two Royal Terrorgheists, filling out your Battleline and Behemoth slots in one (bony, decaying) swoop. That was simple! You’re going to take want to take these as part of the Royal Menagerie warscroll battalion – this offers you an additional command point, the ability to deploy all your Monsters at once, and an extra artefact of power to boot. The Warscroll Battalion itself is great, allowing you to heal your monsters and significantly bolstering their survivability. At this stage, you’ll also want to add a Charnel Throne to your army. After all, it doesn’t cost any matched play points, so there’s literally no reason not to! Step 3: The Heroes Of course, this army wouldn’t be much without someone to lead it! An Abhorrant Archregent is a great choice, capable of summoning extra units to the battlefield and being a solid close-combat Hero to boot. You’ll want to keep this guy near your Charnel Throne early in the game and pick summoned units based on the battle you’re in – Crypt Ghouls if you need to grab some objectives, Crypt Flayers if you’re looking to do some damage, or a Courtier if you want to support your existing units. Step 4: Holding Objectives So, you’ve got a fast and fun list – it just needs a little something extra. While your monsters are pretty awesome, they’ll struggle to hold objectives – this is where your Crypt Ghouls come in. A block of 30 costs a mere 300 points – field a Varghulf Courtier alongside them and you’ll round out your list at 1980 points! The Varghulf Courtier is a deadly fighter and gets stronger when your Abhorrant Archregent casts spells – as well as restoring models to your Crypt Ghoul units. And that’s that – you’ve got a hard-hitting, powerful and unusual army in only a few simple steps! Feel free to change any of our suggestions. Perhaps you’ll want to use an Endless Spell or two, or maybe you’ll want to drop the model count by swapping Crypt Ghouls for Crypt Flayers or Crypt Horrors. However you’re looking to build your Flesh-eater Courts army, you’ll need a battletome to do so – pre-order yours today.
  11. The Genestealer Cults are now officially out in force, but how do you use your shiny new miniatures on the battlefield? Well, fear not, for help is at hand. In Part 1 of his Genestealer Cults Tactica, honorary Nexos Geoff Robinson discussed the myriad uses of the army’s Cult Ambush ability. Today, he’s breaking down the turn, phase by phase, to take a look at how you can maintain the advantage you gained from your initial ambush. Geoff: Hello everyone! The new codex doesn’t demand you play the Genestealer Cults in any one way. In fact, it empowers a good general to employ armies of very different styles and compositions. Today, I’d like to break down several phases of the game and discuss how to focus your efforts according to your choice of units – and look at some of the key Genestealer Cults units we can best utilise in each phase. The Psychic Phase The Magus is a great HQ option and will probably find its way into a lot of lists. With its Spiritual Leader ability, the Magus offers some formidable psychic defence in addition to its own innate ability to deny a psychic power. On top of that, the Magus can cast one power (or two in one turn of the game with a Familiar). I like Mass Hypnosis, as it inflicts an enemy with -1 to hit and an inability to fire Overwatch that can come in handy considering how often a typical Genestealer Cults army wants to engage in close combat. Another HQ that will commonly be taken is the Patriarch. Not only is it deadly in melee, but at Leadership 10, it’s the best candidate to harness the Mental Onslaught psychic power. We also have a number of ways to lower enemy Leadership and even raise our own (like with the aura ability from the Clamavus), making this a power you should look to make use of, as it can take down some surprisingly powerful foes in the Psychic phase. An Abominant, while not psychically inclined himself, does come with a special Mindwyrm Familiar that inflicts a penalty to Psychic tests for enemy Psykers (other than our beloved Tyranids) within 12″. This is fantastic as your Abominant should be in the thick of the fray anyway, so that large area of effect comes into play very often! Finally, I want to mention that this codex has some fantastic psychic powers and begs you to go with a wide variety. For example, if your opponent is kind enough to field an Imperial Knight against you, why not use Mind Control to take command of it for a turn…? The Shooting Phase Genestealer Cults have ample access to ranged weaponry with solid Strength and AP characteristics such as mining lasers, allowing them to knock down enemy vehicles and monsters with relative ease. Achilles Ridgerunners offer fast, inexpensive ways to mount a heavy weapon and can guard key objectives while putting out powerful damage. Accompany your Ridgerunners with a Jackal Alphus and use its Priority Target Sighted ability to boost their shooting effectiveness against a key target. If massed shooting is the order of the day, you can charge your Neophyte Hybrids with the task of autogun fire, empowered by the heroic Kelermorph. While by themselves Neophytes only possess an average level of accuracy, firing first with your deadly gunslinger and targeting an easy model to kill with one of his guns means you can then re-roll hit rolls of 1 for all friendly units within 6″ of him for that phase. You can take this even further and have a Primus join the ambush. The turn it shows up, you can nominate an enemy unit to re-roll 1s to wound too, against a single enemy unit. Of course, we wouldn’t be much of a revolutionary force if we didn’t recognise the importance of removing key figures. Is a pesky psyker ruining your day? Why not see what the Sanctus can do about it? Equipped with a silenced sniper rifle, this assassin can do great damage to enemy characters – especially those tainted by the warp. Give your Sanctus The Gift From Beyond relic and you could be wounding said characters on a 2+ (while causing an additional mortal wound on a 4+) before triggering a Perils of the Warp. The Combat Phase Our beloved Purestrain Genestealers are the obvious mention here. While they don’t benefit from Cult Creeds, they do get to join in the Cult Ambush by deploying underground or as an ambush marker. Given how fast these predators move, your opponent will rightly fear where they’ll turn up. Being able to start them 9″ away from an enemy model means they’re already dangerously close, but combine that with the A Perfect Ambush stratagem to get them D6″ closer, ready for the charge. If you set up a Clamavus nearby, you’re also increasing their charge range by 1. Very few things in this wonderful game welcome the charge of 20 Genestealers… Aside from this, I’d be remiss not to mention the Aberrants here. Surprisingly difficult to kill and packing a hefty wallop, these fiends will destroy infantry and armoured targets alike. I prefer to run them with power picks and combine buffs like the psychic power Might from Beyond with a permanent power-up from a Biophagus. You can’t lose with Genomic Enhancement – a boost to Attacks, Strength or Toughness will dramatically improve your Aberrants regardless of what you roll. Don’t forget your Acolyte Hybrids, too. They’re a scary unit at close range, with each of them having the option to take a hand flamer while still remaining effective in close combat – I just love their utility! They also have a huge variety of powerful melee weapon options that can augment their rending claws. When properly equipped, there isn’t much in the game they can’t kill. In Conclusion… As I write this, I am cackling with glee at how much how much more there is for you all to discover – I’ve barely even begun to scratch the surface! The full range of units are fun to use, but can just as easily be fielded competitively. Cult Creeds are diverse and powerful while our relics, Warlord Traits and psychic powers are interesting and tactical. Thanks, Geoff. If you’re not cackling maliciously while playing with your Genestealer Cults, you’re probably not playing in the spirit of the army anyway! If you’re looking to reinforce your collection with some of the units Geoff suggested, you can pre-order your Abominant, Biophagus, Aberrants and Achilles Ridgerunners now, while all the other units are in stores and available to order online.

  14. Hello. We have managed to get our mitts on the new Codex Genestealer Cults for review. Genestealer Cults are possibly what I consider the best looking army in its totality, in the Warhammer 40K Game System currently. The new releases have perfectly filled in and expanded the existing range to a fantastic level. The new Codex shares some new information on lesser Cults such as the black and yellow Sons of Jormungandr who are subverting the Thalassi sector and the Behemoid Undercult who ritually Scar their faces, in reverence of Old One Eye. Learning about new Chapters/Regiments and Cults are one of the best things about new Codex. Locuses This new unit acts as a bodyguard for Cult Characters. They are described quite impressively. They have the Quicksilver Dodge special rule (5+) and always fights first in the fight phase even if it did not charge. That’s pretty cool. Achilles Ridgerunners This vehicle is my favourite item from the new range. It looks absolutely fantastic. I hope we see rules for it ported to Necromunda eventually as it is described as a vehicle employed by Geological Surveyors and Mining Guilds. The Heavy mining laser which it sports is especially nasty. It has a Flare Launcher too, which means it pretty much gets a 6+ invulnerable save against every wound that is lost. There are some great art pages which you expect to see in the Codex. I do love a cult tide. Once again, a great Codex from Games Workshop. The Genestealer Cults look amazing.

  16. Carrion Empire and the Flesh-eater Courts battletome will be available to pre-order in mere hours! To tide you over while you wait, we’ve got one more preview – a closer look at the Endless Spells of the Flesh-eater Courts, plus the Charnel Throne scenery piece… The Endless Spells aren’t just useful for Flesh-eater Courts armies – they’re also great for any Death army that contains Nagash, who, as befits the God of Death, can cast all of them. Cadaverous Barricade What’s better than a wall? Why, a wailing barricade of corpses, of course! This horrific bulwark is great for slowing down your foes or lending your units some cover against enemy shooting. Chalice of Ushoran The Chalice of Ushoran is a cunning Endless Spell that’ll allow you to turn dead enemies into replacement Crypt Ghouls, or just heal your favourite units. Cast it on the front lines to considerably improve your army’s survivability. Corpsemare Stampede The Corpsemare Stampede excels at dealing mortal wounds to squishy units. Thanks to its ability to move an impressive 14″, it’s more than capable of riding roughshod over several enemy units at once. The Charnel Throne A Charnel Throne can be included in any Flesh-eater Courts army and costs no matched play points – like the Herdstone, or Bad Moon Loonshrine, it’s a core part of any army. On the battlefield, it’ll bolster the courage of your troops, reduce the Bravery of your enemies, and allow you to save your valuable command points when summoning. The Endless Spells and Charnel Throne will be available to pre-order tomorrow – in the meantime, let us know how you’ll be using them in your games on the Warhammer Age of Sigmar Facebook page!
  17. I have this. It was leftover from another lot and I don't know what it is. Yours, if you want it.
  18. Posted 08/02/2019 Las Vegas Open Warhammer Preview At the time of writing, the Warhammer preview seminar at the Las Vegas Open (one of the world’s largest Warhammer events) is just drawing to a close and, oh boy, was it a good one. I know we say this every time, but this might just be the coolest line up of reveals and previews yet! If you couldn’t make it, don’t worry, we have all the news for you, right here… The new edition of Age of Sigmar brought a lot of new tricks to the game, and soon, more armies than ever will be able to take full advantage of them – 2019 will see new battletomes for every Grand Alliance! Some brand-new armies will be joining the fray, as well as classic armies updated for the new edition. With Gloomspite Gitz already on shelves, and Flesh-eater Courts and Skaven on their way, we look ahead to the next battletome: Blades of Khorne. The servants of the Blood God are about to get a lot more lethal. Inside the new battletome, you’ll find ways to customise your Khorne army as never before, with rules for dedicating your collection to a variety of Khornate sub-factions. What’s more, Khorne armies can look forward to even more new models, hot on the heels of Wrath and Rapture last year, with a redesigned Skulltaker… …and a host of summoned Khornate phenomena. Don’t call them “endless spells” – you’ll just make the Blood God angry. Instead, these are pure manifestations of Khorne’s wrath, brought into being by the brutal clamour of war and, of course, the copious spilling of blood. The Next Chapter in the Soul Wars One of the great things about Warhammer Age of Sigmar is the rich, evolving narrative. The background for the Mortal Realms is growing all the time, with the past few years having taken us through the epic battles of the Realmgate Wars, through the fledgling conquests of the Seeds of Hope, to last year’s Soul Wars. This tectonic shift in the status quo saw Nagash rise to supremacy, the emergence of the Nighthaunt, and Sigmar forced to open the Sacrosanct Chamber. Now, in 2019, the Soul Wars continue – and something ancient and terrible is awakened… Answer the Call of Chaos That’s not all. Later this year, we’ll be taking you to the darkest heart of the Mortal Realms – beyond death, beyond Sigmar and beyond sanity. Get ready to play Warhammer Age of Sigmar as you’ve never seen it before, in a new game that draws on some of the best bits of Warhammer Underworlds and Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team… The Allpoints await – are you worthy? Warhammer Underworlds: Nightvault, continues to go from strength-to-strength, with each new release adding exciting new game mechanics and stunning new models. Ylthari’s Guardians encapsulate the mercurial beauty of the Sylvaneth. Based on the Spite-Revenants and Tree-Revenants, these mystical guardians feature design elements from across the entire Sylvaneth range, making for a characterful group. But that’s not all they are… Ylthari’s Guardians feature a distinct play style that takes everything you love about the Sylvaneth – durability, flexibility and magical power – and translates it perfectly into the intense, competitive scale offered by Warhammer Underworlds. If you’re looking to turn over a new leaf and fancy branching* out into a new warband, this is the one for you! You know who we’ve not seen a lot of lately? The Black Legion. Since the events of the Gathering Storm and the fall of the Cadian Gate, we know that these ebon-clad villains are rampaging across the galaxy, spreading carnage throughout the Imperium Nihilus. So far, they have been obscured by the darkness beyond the Great Rift – but now, they have finally reached Vigilus. We’ll give you a moment. This is a big one. Shadowspear is a new battlebox. Like Forgebane, Tooth and Claw and Wake the Dead, you’ll find two armies, ready to fight. But there’s a twist – every single model in the box is a brand-new sculpt. Inside, you’ll find the Chaos miniatures you’ve always wanted, updated and adorned with dark and gothic detail, and pitted against them are the first of the Primaris Vanguard Space Marines. The Vanguard Space Marines add a new tool to the arsenal of the Adeptus Astartes. Trained in covert operations, these ruthless killers operate behind enemy lines as saboteurs, assassins and infiltrators. While the Intercessors and Tactical Squads execute their wars out in the open, these guys fight in the shadows – and they fight dirty. Vanguard Space Marine Librarians sometimes lead these strike forces. They are masters of shrouding and stealth, allowing their battle-brothers to strike at enemy forces when they’re least expected… Eliminators are dead-eye snipers. From concealed positions, these expert marksmen target and take out key enemy leaders, utilising a range of exotic and deadly ammunition tailored to their target. No heretic lord or xenos commander is safe. In the Chaos forces, the Master of Possessions is a sinister sorcerer versed in the forbidden art of using hosts of living flesh to house daemonic spirits. Armed with an array of spells that aid Daemonic allies and corrupt his enemies, the Master of Possessions is a terrifying force on the battlefield. Chaos Space Marines are one of the most iconic Warhammer 40,000 units, and the models in Shadowspear bring them to life in all the warp-spawned majesty they deserve. Clad in baroque armour and armed with vicious weapons, these dynamic and detailed miniatures perfectly capture the look of Heretic Astartes fresh from a 10,000-year stint in the Eye of Terror and ready to carve up some loyalist dogs. You may have seen Obliterators before, but not like this! Bigger, bulkier and packing more firepower than ever, these hulking brutes are festooned with grisly biomechanical detail. They look right at home in the company of even the most corrupt of daemon-forged war machines. Speaking of which… A new class of Daemon Engine, the Venomcrawler is a skittering horror that provides withering infernal fire support. This thing is so saturated in the taint of the Warp that its presence thins the veil of reality itself, allowing Daemons easier access to realspace. Incredible, right? Well, guess what – this isn’t even everything in the box. Don’t worry, you won’t have to wait too much longer to see what else the new Shadowspear box has in store: everything will be revealed soon here on warhammer-community.com. Back in 2017 (how time flies…) we asked you for your thoughts on the Warhammer hobby and gave you the chance to help shape the years ahead. The Big Community survey was a huge success, with over 100,000 of you sharing your thoughts and opinions. A year and some on and a whole host of things from your wish list are now a reality: the StormCast and VoxCast podcasts, webcomics like Roll Models, more articles every day, and, of course, who could forget plastic Sisters of Battle?! Your voice made a difference, and very soon, you’ll again have your chance to have a say with the 2019 Big Community Survey. Together, we’ll usher in even more great initiatives and continue to make the Warhammer hobby the most awesome-est. Perhaps the most hotly anticipated item from the 2017 survey was the Sisters of Battle. We know just how much you’re looking forward to the new Adepta Sororitas, and so we’re happy to confirm that Codex: Adepta Sororitas is still on track (and looking more than a little great so far). We promised we’d keep you up to date every step of the way, and so far, we have, with previews and even the chance to playtest the rules yourself. Continuing in that vein, we’re very excited to announce the Battle Sister Bulletin, a regular series – right here on warhammer-community.com – that’ll be packed with previews and insights until they arrive. Think of it as your one-stop shop for the very latest on the Adeptus Soritas. Look out for the first Battle Sister Bulletin within the next couple of weeks. Oh, and to further reward your faith while you wait, here’s a first look at another incredible new Sisters of Battle model. Tonight’s preview wasn’t all about heroes on the tabletop. We also took the opportunity to name this year’s lineup of Warhammer Heroes – those champions of the Warhammer hobby nominated by you, the community, for the good work they’ve done within the Warhammer community and for noble causes around the globe. Amongst this year’s nominations were some truly inspirational stories, and we’re delighted today to unveil those who went above and beyond and truly earned the title of Warhammer Hero. Thanks again to all of you who sent in your nominations. We’ll share more on some of these inspiring stories soon. And One More Thing… So, we’ve got new Sisters of Battle, incredible plastic Chaos Space Marines, brand-new Primaris units, battletomes, Warhammer Underworlds warbands – but it feels like something is missing… Well, it wouldn’t be a reveal without a new Primaris Lieutenant, would it? He’s coming. Get ready. Let us know what you’re looking forward to most on the Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer Age of Sigmar Facebook pages – and stay tuned for more news soon right here. *We’re sort of sorry for this one. But only a little.
