  1. I'm sure that can be supplied. I personally don't have an emperor's champ but if Jeff doesn't have one to spare I'm sure a suitably interesting marine with a sword can be found
  2. I'll arrive somewhere in that 2-3 area
  3. No restrictions beyond regular force organization now :)
  4. -UPDATE- my work schedule has changed and I'm actually off by noon on wednesday. So I will probably swing by the store anyway in the afternoon whether I go to warmachine or not later just to say hi, hang out, play games if anyone wants, and so on.
  5. Hey, guys. It sounds like you all are doing a great job getting things sorted out for making up the 500 point games and getting your 750 point games in. I don't know if Sean is planning on us still going to 1000 this weekend or not to try and keep us on a timetable for the holidays, but either way just gonna put out there that if anybody needs a game and can't seem to get one scheduled PM or (even better) txt me. I'll be available generally after 6 PM this week (5:30 on Wed) and am making it a priority that if anybody needs to get a game in I'll make the time. Just let me know :)

    750 Pt. Tau

Yeah I agree if I was trying to optimize I would definitely feel way more comfortable with a devilfish in there. The Vespid point cost make it rough caues of their weird niche place in the meta. Pricey, great at killing foot marines, but either over or under kill for almost everything else. I've a feeling they're going to get phased out at 1000 in favor of more firewarriors, some sniper drones, and if that 200 point stealth team keeps me entertained I'll keep it in there heheh.

    750 Pt. Tau

All righty. I know there's probably some concerns out there about posting lists for our league and getting thoughts and advice given the air of competition. I'm gonna post mine anyway though and see what kinds of thoughts we can get out there and also give some insight into how I believe list construction works. 'Sides, I can't win the league anyway and if somebody's gonna tech a list specifically to combat mine that just means I must be doing something right, eh? :) Total Points: 750 HQ Ethereal (50) - 50 Troops Fire Warrior Team [54] - 108 +Fire Warriors (6) [54] Kroot Carnivore Squad [60] - 70 +Sniper Rounds (10) [10] Elites Stealth Team [90] - 203 +Stealth Shas'ui (3) [90] +Shas'vre [10] +Fusion Blaster (2) [10] +Advanced Targetting System [3] Fast Attack Vespid Stingwings [72] - 154 +Vespid Stingwings (4) [72] +Vespid Strain Leader [10] Tetra [35] - 35 Heavy Support Skyray Missile Defense Gunship [115] - 130 +Disruption Pod [15] Sorry for the weird format. Wrote this on my tablet. But basically the ethereal will be running with the unit of firewarriors. He gives them leadership as well as that leadership bubble if I have to turtle for any reason. Also of course there's the storm of fire for a potential 36 shots at 15", or a surprising amoutn of mobility by using the aura to be able to run and still snapfire afterwards. The kroot are kroot. Infiltration, harrasment, a cheap troops choice, and the sniper rounds can give them some surprising teeth in the right moments. The stealthsuits are fairly dangerous with the 4 burst canons and two fusion blasters give me some heavy anti-armor or high toughness and also infiltrate. The vespid are highly mobile between jump, move through cover, and fleet and MEQs are in danger with 8 AP 3 guns on them. They're moderately tough too with T4, a 4+ armor, and stealth ruins. You all are familiar with the Tetra. Then the skyray is a toolbox of S8 AP3 missiles, cover-ignoring anti-infantry fire, anti-air, and two more accurate marker lights. In short, a 750 point list I've intended to be both quite mobile and also able to reach out and touch somebody.
  8. I'll keep an eye on this thread. If nobody can make it I'll skip warmachine and come by after work (6:30-ish).
  9. A good point. Perhaps I should have phrase it as this next week with the 750 points heheh.
  10. We go to regular Force Organization this saturday with the jump to 750 point lists. Must have an HQ, 2 troops, etc. and no restrictions on number of wounds, armor, invuln, total AV, or any other such limitations.
  11. No worries. I meant in general anyway. Send me a PM if you ever need me to bring something in for you to use. I can either bring it by or drop it off with James if I can't make it to the day you're playing and he'll keep an eye on it for me at the store. Already did that this past weekend for someone.
  12. We'll get ya there, man! :) As always if you have a list idea you want to run point it up and let me know. I am more than happy to supply models to try stuff out. If I do this idea I'm going to be proxying all the necrons anyway. All purchases are on hold until the new codex comes out so this would be essentially theoryhammer on the table heheh.
  13. I'm gonn a be at the phoenix nest on tuesday to play a 500 pt. game or two (or more!) with whomever wants league games and providing an opponent for those is my first priority, but if anyone feels up to trying their hand at 2k points there's some ideas I'd like to field test involving necron allies for Tau. This is more than likely not going to be a hard list so my hope is that it'll be fun and provide some good back and forth. It's kind of silly given that the new codex is about to come out so everything I'm planning is subject to change, but nature of the game is to keep evolving and trying new stuff right? :)
  14. I can totally make it. Happen to have Tuesday off this week. We can throw down and if anybody else comes by we can have a 40k partay!
  15. I'm currently committed to a Warmachine game for this evening but if it goes fast or falls through I'll check in at the store and see if you found a game.
  16. Hey, guys! I'm Kao, otherwise known as Alex. I'm the third of the group who moved out here from Oregon and the resident lightning rod of hate tau player :) Looking forward to gaming with you all! I'm generally available most evenings as I work banker's hours and am quite close to the store. If you want to throw down just let me know.
  17. I suppose I can always ask Big Tal how he would rule on it at OFCC in particular. The joys of poorly structured rules.
  18. Another question for you, my beloved 40k community. With OFCC coming up this is another rules question I'd like to get resolved before dice start rolling. Commander O'Ra'Lai from the Taros Campaign comes with Preferred Enemy (Independent Character), and there seems to be a great deal of conflict on how this rule should work when firing at a unit containing an IC. I've seen arguments made for it doesn't work, that it only works on precise shots allocated to the IC (thereby ignoring the re-rolling 1's to hit), that it works on the entire unit, and could even be interpreted as working on a transport containing an IC. I personally lean to working on a unit containing an IC too but it's ambiguous enough I'd like to get a consensus before I risk a sportsmanship situation by debating it with an opponent. Anyone familiar with this situation or can point to a clear ruling on it?
  19. True it's probably not going to be killing anything too far above it's weight-class in a single round of shooting without expending both seeker missiles. Not if you're running just one anyway, though I can see value in 2-3 of them. Probably 2. 270's a lot outside of appoc, but I've also ready some interesting reports of using them as good aggressive objective grabbers. Either go hover mode and flat out over to one with a very respectable cover save even out in the open, or zoom over, and next turn switch to hover mode to capture objective. The big thing to note also is that it carries a networked marker light, so if accuracy is a concern and 75% chance to hit on the 6 S5 shots isn't enough it's got a 50% chance to kick itself up to BS4 for all 6 twin-linked shots and both missiles as well. That and one only being 90 points it really doesn't need to work that hard or just get a little lucky to make it's points back. A couple wounds off an MC, drop another flyer, or heck even get into the back arc of most of the vehicles out there and take off a couple hull points and it's earned it's points value.
  20. A bit, yeah. The Long-Barrel Burst Cannons got upped to being Heavy 6 with a range of 36." So for 90 points you get a small profile flyer with 2 hull points, hover mode, shrouded, 6 twin-linked S5 AP5 shots, two seeker missiles, and a networked marker light.
  21. Thanks, guys. I appreciate the prompt answers!
  22. I've been considering taking some Tau Remora Stealth Drones and after a series of questions in a number of places I've established that the official ruling as supported by the BRB is that the Remora, despite currently being a flyer, uses the base that it comes with. In this case that means a skimmer base. So to make sure I'm not about to start cheating I'm going to put this question out there. Do flyers gain cover from being obscured by terrain? My investigation through the BRB tells me that yes they do but I just want to be sure. The reasoning I'm following right now is that tthey are a vehicle and therefore must be 25% obscured to gain said cover save, but that in this case the upside to the Remora being down closer to ground level (where targets being obstructed from line of sight and rapidfire bolter fire are much more common) is that it is much easier for it to gain a cover save without jinking from terrain. So far I haven't found a rule stating that flyers, whether in hover mode or not, are unable to benefit from being obscured like any other vehicle.
