  1. Will there be any restrictions on formations?

In the past players have been allowed three detachments total, one of which must be a Combined Arms Detachment. You can then take additional CADs, allied detachments, or formations to fill up your other two slots. This makes some things (such as free transports from a Battle Company) impossible to use as it requires more than two formations.

  2. Lol.  I want talking about that.  I was talking about the list in general.

I know you weren't talking about my army, my comment wasn't in response to yours.

The Brass Scorpion/Soulgrinder army was not a good fit for OFCC in my opinion - it was actually an 1850 list. The player didn't add 150 points to make it more "fair", but I think it still won all of its games. I kinda threw Ed under the bus by pairing him against it lol.

How different is that from bringing a list with lots of flyers?

Not very different. I don't think lots of flyers (or any extreme list) should be common at OFCC either, though ironically two of my players from this year ran the Storm Wing formation.

  3. I took a Baneblade to this year's OFCC. While none of my opponents told me they didn't want to play against it, I felt that it definitely caused unbalanced games overall. I had a great time with each of my games but they all devolved into "can my opponent kill the Baneblade", which is not where I want to be at OFCC. I don't want my opponent's dedicated anti-infantry units to have nothing to do.

I had 5 great games, but I won't be taking a superheavy next year.

  4. I considered running more Flesh Hounds, but I've had a bunch of Bloodcrushers collecting dust for a while so I've been itching to see how they perform. If they are terrible then I will probably just swap them out for more hounds instead (especially since I can get 8 Hounds for the points cost of 3 Bloodcrushers).

That's the exact level ofor list I was going for! I'm looking forward to testing it against you this weekend, hopefully it is as fun to play as I think it is while also being a good list.

Dang I forgot to close my bbcode tags... fixed

I think you're list will be pretty fun to play and solid on the tabletop. I think you'll have problems against massed AV12 (like my list) but we'll see lol.

  5. I have a dark elf army, im going to0 chop them at the waists and glue them to the spiders..making Dryders (aka Seekers of Slannesh)  just need a thousand oval calvary bases to actually field them   lol   btw thanks so much for making the trade with me  im super satisfied!

That's an awesome idea, I actually used on of those spiders to make a Dryder for a D&D campaign which is why I only had 59 to trade lol. I'm happy too, pleasure doing business with you and best of luck with those bases!

  6. I think personally it should be any character. Makes it more accessible to armies with little IC

    Also do tyranids have IC?

I was thinking this as well, due to Imperial Guard. The most common HQ choices (Company Command Squads and Tank Commanders) have no Independent Characters. Maybe any character (independent or not) from an HQ choice?

Tyranids have the Tyranid Prime, that's about it.

  7. I was putting some Quickshade on my MaulerFiends, and realized an even better way to phrase this: I'm doing work on my KDK that I've been procrastinating on since before they were even a Faction.

    That's some serious procrastination.

I've had my Astra Militarum unpainted since they were called Imperial Guard. I think that's about the same time frame.

I've finished everything except a single Infantry Squad, which I plan to hammer out tonight. No Friday painting for me! (an OFCC first)

  8. Thinking about it some more, at OFCC, I think the line would be if you hit a point where clearly neither of you are having fun. That's really what this weekend is for, and if the Game isn't turning out fun, call it early, work out a score, and go do something that is fun.

If a game isn't fun for either player then I'd call it and offer to get a pint or play a game of combat patrol. Or both

  9. Thanks for sharing that, WestRider.

Last year I played my first game at OFCC as if it were a tournament game - I did everything in my power to win, and I tabled my opponent. I wasn't a jerk or anything, but I somehow got into "tournament mode" and as a result didn't have a great game. I don't want to table anyone at OFCC unless they are also cheering my army on (which actually happened during my 5th game).

This year I plan to crack open a beer at 10AM and have 5 of the best games ever. I already talk to my opponents beforehand about terrain and stuff but that article made me really think about how I interact with my opponents during games.

  10. Found some typos...

    Mission 1 story:

"...Feeling the urge to rush forward haphazardly is all to strong..." (should be "too")

    Mission 2 story:

"After the first fray you regroup and head closer towards the beacon lies..." (probably missing "where", as in "where the beacon lies")

"Your scans light up and you forces" (should be "your forces")

    Mission 4 story:

"...You know that you must hold not but them all!... (probably missing "one", as in "must hold not one but them all!")

    Mission Scoring SAT:

"Did your opponent show up on time read to play?" (should be ready)

Other than these errors the packet looks good to me!
