Jake, I want a rematch against your empire. How about it?

Unfortunately I'm out of town again this week, so no game night for me :(

I'd definitely like to get a game in against your green menace before the OFCC though.

    Maybe next week?

  2. I think that with the given quoted rules, there is little reason that the different interpretations need be incongruous.

So say that we must first buy base gear to replace it. Fair enough, I equip the base gear. Then, so equipped, I am allowed to replace my gear to my liking. However, according to the definition of the English word 'replace', my new gear 'takes the place of' my old gear. Thus, when calculating my list as with the quoted rules page above, I am no longer equipped with the base gear, and thus do not pay for it.

Therefore I have fulfilled the requirement of replacing my gear, but do not have to pay for the gear I have lost in the process.

Wait how can you have a Primaris ancient if they just got created......

Ancient appears to be a 16th century derivation of the rank of Ensign, alternatively used for either a standard bearer or the standard itself.

Also, it seems that the Space Marine Big'uns can be made from existing Marines. Odd, but might explain their acceptance by unorthodox chapters a bit better.

Well, the units that fall back can only move. They can't shoot, nor "advance" which is the new term for run. So both shooting and assaulting armies are going to have to be thoughtful to how they engage the enemy.

Yeah, there could be a decent tactical interplay if there are good ways to engage key targets. I could see it being rather easy to throw cheap roadblock units to keep the assault units at bay indefinitely though.

That said, shooting looks a little less scary, and I have a feeling we will see some nice bonuses to assault if they want to make it a viable option. Overall I'm excited for a shakeup and consolidation of the rules.

Definitely looking forward to a game where everyone can take what they like and have the game come down to tactics and dice rather than points efficiency. 40k has been fun when I can get the list power levels to match up, but I've been on either side of some straight mow-downs, and that can rob the game of the essential 'fun' element imho.

  5. Missing the whole ruleset, and maybe I'm missing revealed rules, so I cannot see the full picture.

Isn't the fall back move a potential nail in the coffin for assault armies? Sticking in combat seemed like one of the only potential safe zones against range-focused armies. They have said they want to make assault viable though, so there might be more to it.

Looking for a ninth age opponent, 4500 points or 5000 if we wanna get wild. I ain't playing any tournament lists yet!!

I'd like to lock in a game of Ninth. 5000 is sorely tempting, but I should probably go with 4500 for the tournament to the south. Would 6PM work for you?

Joey and I are getting in a game of 9th age, His first one!

Yesss. More [redacted] for the [redacted] god!

  7. Yeah, I've played a few of the total war mini campaigns to some enjoyment, but its usually all about the Grand Campaign for me, with a lot of faction interplay. This Total War probably offers the most versatility in factions and how they interact.

I should hope that the TW: Warhammer games would function like standalone expansions (a la Dark Crusade or Soulstorm for Dawn of War). Perhaps playable on their own, but completely linkable with the base game's Grand Campaign.

  8. I want to go to OFCC this year, but I'm not sure about which game I'll want to play there yet.

Either way, I could use some Infinity practice. They might be some of my favorite models, and the game is always engaging.

I should be able to start getting down to the shop more now.

  9. Great to see things moving forward. A little unsure on Guilliman's model, but I might just be used to the Forgeworld scale. To a point, Primarch proportions should probably be off, as they are demigods, but it seems like he could use some more heft.

That Cypher though, may have to repaint all of my DA black. The closed eye, cloak, armor style, and big sword are giving me a bit of a Guts vibe.
