One of my "MUST BRING" units is the BA-10 Armored Car Platoon. It has Spearhead but NOT Scout. After using it for Spearhead, it can push back the ambush area go into your back field as a cheap reserve threaten an unguarded objective duel with armored cars and other light "tank" teams whose FA (Front Armor) is 1 or 0. Don't duel with the SdKfz 231 (FA3) screen an open flank Screen forward in short terrain to limit or prevent a dash move by one or two enemy units. For 1, maybe 2 turns, pull AT shots away from your tank push (sacrificial role) Create one or more distractions or diversions if you don't overplay your hand. CAUTION: Its cross is 6, so don't expect it to hide in woods or cross walls. Sometimes, the best use of Spearhead is to grab a better piece of terrain or firing position just 1-3 inches in front of your deployment area.

The dice gods were biased so badly that Vegas casino bosses would have been jumping out of windows, had they been in charge of our table.. That being said, phyfor88 made some good points. It will take a lot of experimenting to find winning Russian lists and strategies. Being curious, persistent and loving the options in the Russian forces, I vow to keep experimenting. BTW, I had three infantry units and pushed one aggressively toward the objective #1. If I had used my second Armored car unit better I could have threatened the second objective.

Two quick battles on THU, MAY 9th at GG. Both used HASTY ATTACK Mission. Both pitted US Fighting First Staurt hoard against Germam Africa Korps mixed force, with Tank formation. Both battles were quick victories for the Americans. The german tank formation list will probably not beat the stuart hoard, nor most things that are like it. The answer is Infantry formation with at least 2 antitank gun units, with 1 tank platoon to counterpunch and act as reserve. The Italian light tank hoard might operate similar to the stuart hoard. You have been warned.

I think that this mission - HASTY ATTACK - is a likely candidate mission for the tournament. It rewards flexible planning. The mission initially appears to favor the attacker. However, a skillful defender could make this mission work in their favor, if they plan ahead.

THUR, MAY 9: Mission = Hasty Attack I will be at GG on THUR, MAY 9 with 90-pt list of Soviet Heroes, and a 90-point mixed German List. I will probably arrive between 6 & 6:30 If there are only 3 players, I can sit out the battle and use about 1/2 of table #2 to develop my playbook of tactics for ENFILADE.

I can loan: Germans: 1 Grenadier HQ, 2 Grenadier platoons of infantry, armored cars, 1 Early StuG, Pz III 7.5cm short (a.k.a. "Panzer III Ausf. N" Infantry support tank), Pz II, sniper, maybe some infantry guns, Pz IV short, Pz IV long Russians: lots of rifle teams, KV tanks, artillery (76 & 122), 45mm AT guns 4. I recommend small forces, between 35 and 65 points.
