I just had my one Virtuoso... and totally forgot about the Fear rule. C'est la vive.

However, I would say the rules do unbalance some match-ups. I played Raid with 4 of my 6 guys, but imagine if I had rolled 1, i'd be screwed.
In one of my two "test matches" against Steel Angel, I was the defending side in a Rescue Mission and rolled miserably for my number of initial defenders: one lone Harlequin.
It's not a mission Harlequins are well suited for as defenders even under optimal conditions... Still, dice were rolled, snacks were snacked, and beers were drunk. A good way to spend the evening.

I'd really like to see a regular AoS night. I know everyone is excited by WH40k's upcoming new edition (I am too!) but... Well, I have all these shiny new orcs...

This is one of those things that moreorless evens out over a long campaign.

Here's where I'll post pictures of my 'Warhammer: Age of Sigmar' army as I finish them off. The story I've come up with is that my (as yet unpurchased) Megaboss has taken up the idea that he's not just a Boss a roit proppa King! Gathering a load of "Knitez" and "Boyz at Arms" into his warband, along with a few "Bards" and "Know Wots."
The Mortal Realms will soon bend the knee to KING ORCTHUR!- King Orcthur's favorite "bard," who I haven't come up with a name for yet.
- The "Boyz at Arms" led by Serjant Goldtoof
- Serjant Goldtoof, his drummer, and banna wavva. The glorious colors of Goldtoof's ladz have never been captured in battle.
- Goldtoof's Boyz
- Goldtoof's Boyz with 'eavy weapons
- The first three "Knitez," of my growing Waaagh!
- Another angle of the Knitez.
- The Knitez all bear unique "heraldry." The left foreleg of each boar and the left pauldron of each rider match.
- Knite #1: Sir Gore-a-Lad
- Knite #2: Sir Chopzalot
- Knite #3, and the unit's boss, Sir Veysez

In other news "Dave" is still missing I think my parrot may have taken him and hidden him. She likes to "help" me with things that I'm working on.
My ferret is constantly stealing my daughters' My Lil Pony figures. It's actually kind of adorable watching her cuddle with them.
Any chance of a tutorial on that basing technique? It looks amazing.

We have a couple of younger guys over at Red Castle but they are big into 40k. I'll let you know if they take up AoS.
She hasn't shown any interest in science fiction — be it gaming, movies, or books — apart from Star Wars. So she says WH40k isn't really interesting to her... Although when she watched the Death Guard teaser trailer with me she started asking me to explain more about Papa Nurgle. She seems gleefully amused by how happy his followers are.
Maybe when the 8th Edition starter set drops... ;^)

Don't need to pay twice. Just make a second team if you want to play more than twice per period.
But if you really, really, really want to pay twice, please make the second check payable to "Cash" and give it to me.

Oregon City is over an hour away by TriMet, as we live in inner Northeast Portland. Kinda hoping for people who frequent Guardian Games, The Portland Game Store, or (maybe) Red Castle.

The past few months, I've been very sloooowly getting my Start Collecting Ironjawz set assembled and painted, with an eye to expanding it into a full 2,000+ point army in the future. My oldest daughter has been following my progress and has begun asked in a oh-so-subtle manner about getting some Sylvaneth for her upcoming birthday (she'll be 11 on the 15th).
Now, I'm totally onboard with this idea (if I can make the budget work) and look forward to fighting many a battle on our dining room table. However, she's voiced some reluctance at playing games against other adults and older teens... Are there any other kids (10-15) in the Portland area that play AoS?
She's been playing D&D for about a year now, dabbled in X-Wing, and is a pretty smart kid. So I have no doubt she'll be able to learn AoS.

I'm starting to gather a Waaagh! of Ironjawz, but will probably add other orcs and goblins to it eventually.

The advanced targeting systems of the Exitis rifle's handwavium technobabble allow the Vindicare to see through the holograms... Or something.

I'm really looking forward to a Solitaire versus Eversor match...

I think it will help a lot of people to (for lack of a better way of phrasing it) stop being so scared of Age of Sigmar.
I was one of those table flipping NERDRAEG types when AoS debuted. But my issues with AoS have always been based on the setting, never the rules. Although I actually seem to be in the minority of WHFB players who thought that 8th Edition was a good game (minus Storm of Magic silliness), I won't deny that the barrier of entry for a 100+ model per player rank-and-flank game is high. But after decades of development, the old world was a deep and rich setting, filled with the dark fantasy and historical influences that I love. I liked WHFB more despite the rules than because of them.
AoS was the mechanical fix we needed, but the narrative decision to flush the old world seemed too drastic. However, as the game has progressed and new materials have been released, it's been growing on me...
I've wanted WH40k to switch to AoS-style rules and format pretty much since AoS debuted. If they do so without flushing the old universe, so much the better.

Are the falchons really cheaper than just the sword? What makes the difference?
Offense wins games; defense wins championships. I'd rather have the falchions and staff...

The Ironjawz in the photo are a pair of Brutes, a 'Ardboy, and a Weirdnob Shaman... only the Shaman is a Hero.
The Flesh-Eaters appear to be a single Crypt Flayer and a lot of Ghouls. Neither of those are Heroes.
The Stormcasts all appear to be basic Liberators, which aren't Heroes, and a Knight Questor who is a Hero.
The Khorneflakes are a Wrathmonger and Exalted Deathbringer. The Deathbringer is a Hero, the Wrathmonger is not.
My best guess is we'll see a setup similar to SW:A. A single Hero-type model as the Leader, "elite" basic battleline troops as Troopers, a priest/wizard/utility model as the Specialist/Gunner equivalent, and "poor" basic battleline troops as New Recruits.
So Ironjawz will probably be a Brute Boss (leader), Brute (trooper), Shaman (specialist), and 'Ardboyz (new recruits).
Stormcasts might be a Knight (leader), Liberators (troopers), and Paladin (specialist). With either no specific new recruit type (a la Grey Knights) or just with a Liberator with a worse statline (a la Scouts).
Obviously, this basic model would change as needed for the various factions.

1) When you add a new fighter(s), you get them and their equipment. See page 100.
2) Yes. Same page.

Didn't remember it stacked, but you (and I) will still be running (or charging) every turn, so those photo visors won't be around long enough to cause grief. Muahahaha ?
And in my next game, I have to remember that Harlequins cause Fear tests when charging or being charged. That would have been important when dealing with Steel Angel's Skitarii...
-
Enemy fighters suffer a -2 hit modifier instead of only -1 when shooting at running Harlequins... which "stacks" with Cover modifiers, so a Ninja-Clown that runs into Cover is imposing a –4 hit modifier.
Which is why we'd be ever so grateful if no one used photo-visits, flamers, or frag grenades when fighting us. ?

Seems like someone in Nottingham caught wind of how successful Frostgrave has been for Osprey.

I think this league, even more so than most, needs to have a high degree of "gentlemanly leeway" when it comes to rules questions.

I've been looking over my Frostgrave books and I think a fair number of scenarios from that game should translate reasonably well into SW:A.
I used to have a big old box of Fanatic Magazine back issues, but sold them off on eBay when I moved. They had oodles of Necromunda scenarios in that magazine (I was always fond of the Romeo & Juliet inspired mini-campaign! ) and they should work well too.
