I know game length can be an issue some nights but I generally prefer the larger point games. I definitely learn more and the armies seem a bit more balanced.

For some reason I can't remember any names from last night, but I think it you were my opponent with the Tau army.  If so, thank you for the fun game.  2k points is more than I am used to, and my mind was mush by turn 3.

Ninth Edition does have multiple missions specifically geared towards 500 and 1000 Point games. These missions play really well and finally make low-point 40k feel like a “real” game of 40k.

But, having said that, I haven’t gotten to play a 2,000 Point game with my new army yet. I kinda want to let them “stretch their legs.”

I can bring 2k worth of stuff and scale my army as needed.

I'm planning to be there, with WH40k in hand, although if anyone wants me to give them a Marvel Crisis Protocol demo I've got more than enough models to share.

I could show up for 40k with my marines.  Whatever point level you want to do is fine with me.

Thanks to everyone for showing up last night. Thanks to Mulgrok for hanging out and giving me a game.

I like your random army construction, I'll have to try it out.

Sorry that my poor health kept me from being an adequate challenge.   My head was fuzzy from fatigue.

Random is a bit frustrating and liberating at the same time.  I am liking it for forming a narrative though, because I don't have to come up with a story before the missions.

  5. Sholta Ekshor's recon patrol spotted a small Necron force.  Being true to their chapter trait they eagerly rushed into battle and over-extended in their assault.  Despite suffering heavy losses, they refused to turn their retreat into a rout.  Sholta made a desperate charge in to duel their leader.  Decapitating the Necron leader's head caused the remaining enemies to power down.  A successful assassination mission accomplished.

Sholta picked up a couple accolades for his bravery despite failing to keep his men disciplined.  He donned a newly forged set of Master-crafted Armor and the rumors of his prowess in the duel has inspired the chapter.

Cikar attempted a mission to secure territory and remove hostile forces.  They encountered a patrol of Raven Guard who didn't recognize the Dracones Solis markings.  Cikar's lack of experience caused the chance meeting to devolve into a bloody massacre.  His men started in complete disarray and failied to do anything of note.  Luckily, they were able to escape with without suffering grievous injuries.

  6. Decided to go completely random and used CA 2019 random army generator to pick the units.  When it gave me the option to pick an HQ I randomly selected from 5 HQ.  I rolled for all powers, traits, relics.

EDIT: decided to roll for what specific units within each type I would use and had to change accordingly.

EDIT2: removed the last unit roll I made so I could refund RP and spend them on random stuff for the judiciar
