Good news for the Emperor’s elite today – the Talons of the Emperor boxed set now comes with a free booklet compatible with the new edition of Warhammer 40,000.

This great value set came out earlier this year, alongside the Gathering Storm, as the Emperor’s elite deployed in force on the battlefields of the far future for the first time in millennia. This does mean that the rules included in the box are for the last edition of the game – but not to worry!

From today, when you pick up your Talons of the Emperor box, either in-store or online, you’ll also get a booklet containing rules for all the units in the box for the new edition of Warhammer 40,000. With all the datasheets and points inside, this means you won’t even need a copy of Index: Imperium 2 to use your models.

If you’ve already picked up your Talons of the Emperor box, there’s good news for you too: so long as you have your proof of purchase, you can claim your free booklet by getting in contact with your local Games Workshop customer service team.

The Talons of the Emperor are a powerful elite force, combining the raw combat power of the Adeptus Custodes with the more subtle, but no less deadly, talents of the Sisters of Silence. They make an exceptional bodyguard for any powerful Imperial Character, such as an Inquisitor, or even the Living Saint Celestine herself. Our particular favourite from the box though is the more durable (and shinier) version of the Land Raider. This tank can not only deliver your units into the heart of battle, but it dishes out the pain too – hitting on 2’s with all four shots from its Godhammer-pattern lascannons! What’s not to love?

As well as kicking face on the battlefield, these forces are also surprisingly quick to paint. If you’ve not seen them already, we have a guide for both the golden hue of the Custodian Guard, and a more subdued bronze plate, as was favoured by the Sisters of Silence in the age of the Horus Heresy.

We’ll be taking a closer look at both sides of this elite force later on this week.

If you fancy starting an army of these deadly chosen warriors, the Talons of the Emperor boxed set gives you a selection of units for considerably less than picking them up individually – a great start to any force of the Emperor’s guard.

Order yours here.

Sorry for some minor thread necromancy here, but I'm curious with the "Talons of the Emperor" faction, do they get to play with any of their cool Forge World stuff in 40K? I'm not familiar with the content of the FW indices, I'm just wondering if stuff like Grav Tanks and the Galatus / Telemon Dreads are strictly for 30K, or if they can be used in 8th? Thanks!
