Best plastic glue? Best resin glue?

Recommended Posts

Hello Warhamsters,

I didn't put this post in artificier's forge because I'd rather have a local response:

What is the most-recommended or best glue for assembling plastic 40k figures?  I've always used the cyanocrylate with the purple top.  Is that the way to go?

And what about resin?  Now that I'm dusting off my miniatures and trying to get back into things, I vaguely recall some of you fine folks telling me NOT to use the aforementioned purple top stuff for resin models.

Any assistance is appreciated and if it can be purchased at Dark Tower Games, please feel free to just give me the brand name or location in the shop.  I'm hoping to pick some up soon.

Thanks and stay safe,

don

For plastic I use "same stuff" from micro mark. I've been unable to find pro weld (name brand) locally for awhile now but the stuff rocks.

For resin the range of purple top stuff is great but the thinner the glue amount better the joint so I went blue cap. How do I get it where I want it and not on my fingers I hear you cry? http://www.creativedynamicllc.com/the-glue-looper.html this is how I personally use medium the most and light a tea candle by my work space to burn the drying glue off regularly while building.

I know most of this stuff isn't grab and go but the best glue joint isn't found easily over the counter. You find passable impulse buy stuff over the counter.

For plastics I have been using the testors liquid cement with the metal applicator tip for years with awesome results. It's the all black bottle, not the orange one which has a plastic tip.

For resin/metal I use fastcap superglue in all of their offerings. For no other reason than I use it for work as well. I have found most super glues are the same. Thin stuff for tiny fiddly bits, medium for general use and gel for magnets.

But that is just me.
