barca
So ZeroMoon17 and I jumped into the deep water and placed a pre-order @ G G for Team Yankee rulebook, one-time only objective markers, and starter army box. Staff at G G very helpful in setting this up. Flames of war website states 27 November is release date. Look forward to M1 Abrams and T-72 tanks, with attack helicopters - Cobras and Hinds - on table in December.

barca
After doing a quality job of putting the army sets together, we should have a couple of play-throughs to absorb the differences between TY and FoW. Then, would like to set up some TY demos @ GG in December, get more participation and local buzz around TY.
barca
R there any other adventurers out there wanting to command Abrams tanks or cobra tank-busters?
ZeroMoon17
For the record I just saw the price for the Team Yankee rulebook, only $25 :)
Noland
I am thinking of doing this in micro armor...bigger fights on a smaller scale using their rules
Theredepic
Sure, i'd like to dive in too! I'll certainly pick up the book which is a great buy! *Edit* I will be picking up the Soviet Starter boxed set. I played FoW extensively back east (russians and german armor) so it will be nice getting back into it. Do you mind if i possibly use some models from Old Glory, Skytrex, or plastic soldier company for support/infantry carriers and the like? Some people do, just figured i'd ask. ~J
barca
For the record I just saw the price for the Team Yankee rulebook, only $25 :) Not as spendy as we thought it might be. So you are prob only %15 over your budget.
barca
I am thinking of doing this in micro armor...bigger fights on a smaller scale using their rules Advice: swap centimeters for inches and the conversion mostly works. Also, you will NOT have to make new charts. I actually bought and still have a measuring tape in centimeters and meters for that very reason. I am in PDX, mostly go to GG. If you are in the area, we could try this out. At one time, I had 'modern' micro armor. If I still have it, will look at doing this in micro armor scale, as well. Have to check stuff in storage. Might be a while before I find it, or be sure I don't have it anymore. Many years ago, using different rules, five buddies and myself played modern micro armor: US/German NATO combined battalion vs. Warsaw Pact Soviet Motorized Rifle Regiment model to vehicle ratio of 1:1, or very close to that. It was awesome and memorable.

All other times, so long as they are the right scale, our casual gamers - at least in the GG Group (*) - are not purists. * A.K.A. barca
BTW, I might be in the alternative source domain with you. I have Canadian heritage, and will figure out a way to play the 4CMBG (at least casually). If I need to go outside of BF to get Leopard I's and the rest, then I may do that to make the Canadians my second NATO force.

Theredepic
The Zvezda T72 it quite good (I own 3) but they are lacking in the top Dushka AA HMG mount on the top, though that should be easy to replace or rig up. Also, I think its the "B" 1990 version, basically its got upgraded reactive armor on it, so not sure what options will be available to the soviet players in the future, but its not the same model as in the starter. barca
Mix of good and bad... The Good is that your budget won't take such a big hit (if you are stretching the TY allotment over two months instead of one). The Bad is that this compresses our prep time and limits demos to very close to Xmas. But it is what we deal with. Although Jj - of Infinity persuasion - likes Infinity colors, my Urals (T-72s) will be Warsaw Pact camo green, not biathalon carnival colors
