However if VP are earned each turn my drop pods became the platinum standard!

Two questions:
First, have I been warned in advance that the opponent can bring a revenant?
Second, is it an impressivly painted, giant FW model that looks amazing?
If the answer is yes to both, then it is in the spirit of the OFCC. I can enjoy a losing battle if my opponent has a great looking army and I knew in advance that this sort of thing could happen.
I would be very angry/upset coming to an event that surprised me with the inclusion of the revenant. I would also be very annoyed if the opponent had a really lacking paint job on an obviously cheap converted revenant. Maybe it's vanity, but losing miserably to an army that looks just thrown together is very unsatisfying.
As for killing the revenant, sure looks like it can be done on paper.

PS: It would be perfectly reasonable for a TO to add a nerf to the Lords of War in the form of mission objectives, so long as this were known in advance. In example, you could award additional VP for the destruction of the enemy's LoW (in addition to the 1 per 3 HP lost). Perhaps 3 VP for a destroyed LoW. So, kiling a revenant (9 HP) would yield 6 VP, which would mean that merely holding an objective and killing the enemy revenant would likely be enough to win or tie. This wouldn't ban LoWs, but would make players reconsider bringing them and would make destroying them be part of list building. You could also remove the auto-lose with a wipe.
Now there is an idea you don't auto lose to wipe against a lord of war

oth days are equally good for me. Preference to Saturday as Sunday is usually kick back and clean house. I'll be interested need to ask wife but it will prolly be two more.
-
Yeah and to be honest as a regular opponent of the big bugs they were too cheap... Compared to vehicles of the day. In sixth I prolly wouldn't have the same objection to the costs

I like maxmini super nice quality

I just say ban the shooty D. All other super heavies are cool with me. Id love to see stompas every where.
Personally I want to see other super heavies and d is good when targeting them. I've been seriously considering playtesting STR D templates as D under the hole (considered a precision hit) with the rest of the template as. Str 10 ap 1. Seems to eliminate allot of the full unit wipe and makes those other Str 6 ish huge templates ignoring cover more of a choice to consider.

At most, I don't think I'd want to see more than one of the "problematic" Lords of War per team. At that point, it's possible to have a counter-list on your Team and let the Matchup Process sort if out, but if everyone has to be ready to deal wit LoW, it cuts a huge chunk of the viable build-space out.
I also wouldn't want that one list guy have to play all the Lord of war games...
-
But do you really want to play against a revenant? If they were to allow lords of war i'd want two lists. One for lord of war games and one for not. With open gaming i'd want club challenge stuff to be more basic and maybe a structured Saturday night round robin you could sign up for to make sure all that brought that type of list could pay a game.

Sounds great just wanted to toss that out as a possible complication before it was one. :)

I'm kidding too nids should be able to just fire those things the hivemind knows they will be there and makes little appendages ready to be used!
-
It was the Nid FAQ that disallowed Nids from firing gun emplacements.
I hope they faq it again but say that only a model with rending claws can fire emplaced weapons

Just an fyi there will totally be room but I setup terrain the night before an event so I have plenty of time. So I will be there. But not too play board games. Loren and I are playing 40k then terrain setup.

Just wanted to say I voted based on an event not specifically OFCC. The big rule book has allies in the choosing forces section. I don't use allies. And won't but I would not support an event that eliminates them I like seeing most allies and I would prefer to put a hurt on those lists and peer pressure by showing those players a good time then exclude them. Join the other side you catch more with honey than vinegar and all that.
Also I'm running sentinels of terra right now so who am I to judge. :)
All that said I'd come to ofcc regardless of restrictions given time to prepare.

Free and nope but if we play quick then I will push forward.
Feel free to show and play a couple rounds then ditch out.

Awesome gentle men. Glen with spacewolves is also planning on playing if there isn't a magic thing...

I was trying to get my head around the way the game plays now and what a good scheme would be as well. I was thinking. 70 ss of models, then allowing all the upgrades ie the upgrades don't count into the pool. If wanting to allow multiple masters maybe charge them at 10 ss in the pool and keep the upgrades out of the pool?
I just really don't know due to the lack of game diversity around here.

I'd like to toss out my candidacy for hamsterizer.

If you want to keep going on the story encounters Corey, I can certainly help you by getting them playtested. I think the Soulstonequatch is a great idea. I'll see what Todd can come up with.
We like Soulsquatch.

If you PM'ed me something Corey, I didn't get it. I sent Jim a PM yesterday as well, not sure if he got that.
I was a little hasty before, took me longer to copy paste had to switch from phone to tablet. It has been successfully sent now. Et me know if you haven't got it. Off to work now for me...
Walpurgis masters and pool size.

And this was where my inexperience with the system was giving me pause. I too was like upgrades unique to event I was also working with a scheme to replace line in the sand (being always availible) that was narrative driven.
Pool size and game size was giving me fits.
Dan thanks again for taking this on!
