Blacksword missiles are really weak options in terms of anti-flyer. And since the only other DA flyer only has hurricane bolters for AA, they do kinda need a buff if my DA flyers are expected to compete with "real" flyers. That is, without FW options.
Regarding extra layers of the game, you don't need to be active in every phase of the game. Look at TAU, no psychic phase, barely an assault phase, just moving and shooting. Does it make it a faster turn? ....sometimes!
Familiarity with the rules makes things faster. I'm curious how well the rules balance the game, or if they further disrupt attempts at balance.
tau have a significant and quite lengthy assault phase. all of their jet pack jumps take place in that phase.
I know what you're thinking pax, but i've seen it in action. Yes, it can go fast. but there is still a minimum amount of time to decide all those things, roll all those dice, look at all those charts. roll more dice, make some attack rolls, roll save, roll damage, see where it explodes on the board, then move on to the next pair of fliers. two armies with just two fliers each could have 10-15 min dogfight phases every game turn that accomplish little to nothing. or it could go fast. i'd just rather play the actual game.

I like how that was a FREQUENTLY asked question. I feel like a lot of these are just "asked questions". i have a hard time imagining that some of these were frequently anything but stupid.

yeah. I'm honestly fine with that. to be honest. most tournies wont use the dogfight phase. but the agility stat, pursuit and obsec on hover stuff is good. the reserve manipulation probably wont be used, as I cannot see most tournies allowing a dogfight phase, considering how much of a time-sink it is.

I think most tournaments will lean away from using these rules because they just add a layer of complexity to the game that no one really wants or needs; it's extra work for no reason.
I agree with AP here. We tried out the new flier rules in our games this weekend, and it added a significant amount of time to the game turns, and a layer and level of complexity that no one really wanted. In a tourny environment, in which you are already under a lot of pressure to roll, deploy, and play a game in a very limited amount of time, being forced to do what can be a VERY time consuming phase every game turn will make it nearly impossible to actually finish a game of 40k in which both opponents have fliers.
It's fun for pickup games and can make for some interesting campaign stuff, but I don't see this getting used in tournies much. I'm curious to see if ITC adopts these rules as part of their tournament format.

Stupid phone posting.
Anyway, major shifts. The terrain one leaves the ambiguous situation of all units in the opposing unit being engaged without a model needing to go.through terrain, as well as assaulting around terrain.
Mainly good work, though. More pleased than not.Think the grenade thing is a screwup, unless m. Bombs are special, and think the artifact thing is too hard on CSM.
Between this and DftS ObSec drakes, and general loss of flyer skyfire (non fighter), it is about as big a shift as 6th-7th
Ob sec drakes dont really bother me over-much, considering they are 10 rear armor. and even with the grenade nerf, they are not in a good way if they are assaultable.

well, the stormtalon has ceramite plating too. I see it this way. the Stormtaon can hover (which means it can claim objectives (and gets +1 to jink saves when hovering) and has strafing run (+1 BS and pinning when attacking ground targets). so I feel that the versatility is worth it, making them pretty evenly matched. 15 more points for a lastalon and +1 front armor and reroll jinks, i think is worth it. it cant hover, it cant get obsec, it cant adapt quickly to mobile enemies, turn on a dime, or be super accurate against ground targets. I think they both fit their own roles.
Yeah, the new reserve situations is bad, you NEED fliers in order to just defend against that stuff. oy.

The no rerolls on gets hot makes ammo runts pretty meh now for KMK.
actually, the faq question was re-rolling 1's in particular, such as the tempered helm or preferred enemy. not twin-linking. Ammo runtz "twin-Link" it, which is re-rolling all rolls to hit, which the BRB specifically calls out as getting to re-roll the 'gets hot' roll. now, this new faq could over-ride that, but the example they cite is specifically rerolling 1's, as per something like preferred enemy or the tempered helm. are we SURE this applies to twink-linked as well?

SOrry Frowbakk, Skkipper skipped in first. (see what I did there?) and will be bringing Khorne Daemonkin (i think) which fits our theme perfectly of chaos Vs unlikely allies (iron hands/tau) Either way, thanks both of you!

That's what I imagined. He's about primarch level of power. so if they are allowed, all's fair yes? I'm not taking him I'm just curious how that would work. I assume the whole of the army wuld have to be taken into account.

what we can do is pay James, and he'll give you the money for our stuff
that way we pawn all the money handling responsibilities off to him! yay!

How about 2+ FNP? it requires the right Warlord trait for IH CM, but it is doable. A 2+/3++/2+FNP is possible. There are no re-rolls, but it's still burly. without the right warlord trait it's a 3+ FNP.

Alright, so Team Diversity had four people for OFCC, but our buddy Kelshin (Alex), the tall guy in the army got called away... by the army. Stupid army, wanting to train him in stuff. So he will not be able to make it to OFCC. He JUST found out. We are looking for a good fourth wo/man to fill our ranks with diversity, and models. We've had Brother G, Mausdeadalive, and several others on our team before and it is always a good time. We're going for a theme this year, but we need to know what our fourth has before we can nail it down. Any one that we know that needs a team (or someone we don't)? If this is the wrong place to put it, direct me there and I'll move it.

any 2+ save with a re-roll is a 4+ on the re-roll as per ITC? are we not using ITC at OFCC?
-
okay, at least you'll be there!

ANyone remember? back in fifth i think? When they put out a book that had a compilation of all the wargear in the game? I remember that. IT was nice, and relevant for all of like a month.

another good reason for me to avoid playing 40k this year …
Torg, buddy. I have never once in my life felt like you have brought an unfair list to a game of 40k. You have nothing to worry about. And no, that's not an insult, it's a compliment. Please go? I'd be really sad not to see you!

You know what would be really awesome? A "NO" list for OFCC. just stuff that'll be denied outright, such as Skyhammer Annihilation Force, and the like. I know everything is situational. Like I would personally allow a big mek stompa if they ran that and a dread mob. Since the dread mob is so bad, but it's all fluffy. Either way, anyone have any general ideas of what is NOT allowed?

I guess I never figured out why they couldn't release like "war machines of the Imperium" or something. to standardize the rules/costs of all the Imperial tech.

Do the inquisition codex chimeras use the old chimera rules printed in the little ebook, or the new ones from the AM Dex?

okay, just making sure! Thanks!

Topic says it all! Thanks!

Yeah, Iron Hands giving you -1 strength on shooting attacks incoming at them is amazing. has two downsides, and with ATSKNF not being a thing, not being able to sweep people hurts.

Aye, I agree. Just pile on the str 10 pks. but i actually find boxing them in and corralling them with trukk tank shocks to be utterly hilarious.
-
I'm aware they do not in vanilla 40k. yes. I thought I remembered reading something about them being considered to have it in ITC, but I do not see it in the FAQ so I was mistaken.
The rest of my points are valid.

and uh... the thing. um... O_O the space marine stormtalon formation i think says 1 landspeeder. could be wrong. i've seen several that specify a single model, instead of 'one unit of'. like the strike force ultra that requires 1 venerable.
