Gotta admit, this game is kind of intriguing, especially with the low model count. Not sure I can persuade myself to start yet another miniatures project, though.

Between the Ordo Fanaticus thread, the NHMGS mailing list, and the NHMGS Facebook page, about 20 people have expressed interest. I'll talk to Guardian Game and plan on reserving four tables in the bar and the main area (for any under-21s who want to attend) for Saturday, September 27, between 12pm and 6pm. If we get more than 8 people to commit, I'll ask Guardian to give us more tables.
I'll bring enough 15mm figures for a 1943 Eastern Front battle using Flames of War or Blitzkrieg Commander II. So that's one game sorted... What would you like to bring?

Just posted a thread over on All Other Games. Please take a look.

Interest check: If you are interested in getting together once or twice a month at Guardian Games to play some historical miniatures wargames - even if you don't have the figures - please reply here. Also, please say what you're interested in playing.

That's going to take quite a large table, Taran...

Right now I'm just playing Hail Caesar and Flames of War, though I'm still looking for an alternative WW2 system. I'm definitely up for another Black Powder game.
-
Yeah, that's my wallet gone to hell.
-
There should be adequate terrain there. I'm Jesse, and I'll probably be back in the bar chatting with the Firestorm Armada guys.
-
Awesome! Yeah, i have them facing the long end. Want to get together and try this out? I have no idea where the best place to play is. Got any suggestions?
Guardian Games (345 SE Taylor, on MLK) is far and away the biggest game store in town. (They also have a bar in the back.) The other place I usually hit is Red Castle Games (6406 SE Foster), which is more convenient if you're in southeast Portland. If you can make it, I can do Thursday night starting at 6 or Saturday anytime at Guardian.

Recommended frontage for a standard Black Powder unit in 15mm is 120mm to 160mm; a FoW small base is 32mm x 25mm. Assuming you have the figures facing the long end of the base, you could use five bases per unit for a frontage of 160mm... Very neat. So that would be:
Americans
8 units regular inf
3 units of light
3 units of militia
British
10 units of regulars
2 units of light
3 units of grenadiers
Should be plenty for a starting game...

If you're looking for deep strategy, take a look at Crusader Kings 2 and Europa Universalis IV.

Just got into portland and here is what i have:
Americans
39 stands of regular inf
15 stands of light inf
15 stands of militia
British
50 stands of regular inf
10 stands of light inf
15 stands of grenadiers
Hopefully that is enough
Depends on how big you want your units to be. What size stands do you use?
-
Sweet. I hope no one minds if I proxy a few models...

Thanks for the game. You did leave your arty template behind. I'll bring it this thursday.
Whoops. I won't be there this Thursday, due to dad stuff, but I should make it the week after.

I am showing up to Guardian Games on Thursday with 1650 LW US tank company. 6pm.
It's been a while since my Krauts hit the table. I'll do my best to be there with some panzer grenadiers.

As for you, if you ever want allies, I think the Works Raptor Torpedo Cruisers would be amazing for your army. The ships each feature 6 torps with "any" arc, field-able in squadrons of 2-4. they are pretty cheap (for cruisers) and pretty weak, but they'd help against enemies that refuse to get in your fire lane. Again, another unit that would work great at full stop.
Yes, I'm very much considering that. Something to deal with all the accursed cloaky ships I keep running into...
-
I have two armies. American and British. Off the top of my head I can't remember how many but it should be enough to start a game. All infantry and a mix of light inf, grenadiers, line infantry, and a few militia. I've never played black powder but I do have a lot of stuff. Talking about commitment.
That being the case, I'll hold off spending money I don't have on figures I don't need... yet...
-
Well, you are in luck. I have 15mm AWI!
Oh, really...
Hm. I really don't need another project at the moment, but I have terrible willpower to resist such... What do you have at the moment?
-
Hmm... Was thinking more about the drindrenzi, which could certainly choose to not move all game and not be dramatically impaired...
Only if the opponent cooperates by staying in the firing lanes. In the game we played, I think it'd have been quite possible to keep half your fleet concealed during any one turn. Between that and cloaking, I'd have had the devil of a time trying to whittle you down before you got in under my guns. By not maneuvering, I think a player cedes the initiative to his opponent...
-
I'm interested in it, but probably only in 15mm. No figures at this time. (I'd be happy to play with someone else's figures, of course!)
-
It even fits on the base!
-
In related news, my CorSec stands finally shipped. With any luck I can drop a painted fleet on the table in a week or so.

That template is what's disgusting. Bile thralls are hax...

I’ve decided to focus on Skorne, so I’m putting these up for trade or sale. I’d prefer to do it as a lot, of course, but I’m willing to part it out. Everything is painted unless otherwise noted.
I’m listing these at around 50% list; if someone wants the whole thing in one go, they can have the Cygnar for $200 and/or the Mercenaries for $195.
No shipping, but I can deliver to anywhere in the Portland metro area or I can make it down to Salem.
What I want:
Cash, at the listed prices below (or as lot above)
Trade. For new in box, I’ll trade for 66% the list price; otherwise, I’ll trade at 50% the list price.

Skorne models: Praetorian Karax, Cataphract Cetrati or Arcuarii, Praetorian Ferox, Mammoth, Venator Reivers, Venator Catapults, Bronzeback Titan

That's the only Saturday I have free this month, so it'll have to do. Angel's confirmed the reservation, and someone's proposed an AWI game as well.
