So I think I should create a new post for this. I was very disappointed in seeing that the Dwarf book wont be in the opening weeks release with some of the new Dwarf models. I also understand that there is no way to change that.
What I don't want to see is that happen again. I really look forward to new armies coming out. I love getting the book and I don't feel I'm alone. I'm sure that GW is just trying this out, but I don't want them to continue trying this out.
I think the best way to keep them from doing that again is to make them know how I feel about it. So I actually emailed them with how disappointed I was. Not a mean email or such. Just an email that basically said how I wasn't happy with that decision.
I think the more that feel this way and email GW at CustServ@gwplc.com the more likely that we wont see this happen again.
I know, blah blah blah. We're but a drop of water in an endless ocean.

Okay guys! You have a week from today to get your lists in. The deadline is February 7th. You can email them to:
orderoftheblacksheep@mail.com
Don't forget that it is @mail.com and not @gmail.com

Since I wouldn't buy anything until the book came out anyways, to make sure that the troops don't suck with the new rules, I think it's a really poor marketing choice.
-
Rumor mill on Warseer is the book not coming out until the 3rd wave. That being February 22nd.
-
So... I don't see the Dwarf book on the pre-release page. I'm guessing the book itself comes out later in February?
-
Meh I think this is going to lock me in as a no go. I was kind of up in the air about being able to attend anyway. I was looking at bringing the same list I brought last year (I think) but changing it around in order to fit Skarsnik. The list is almost all core. I cant imagine 3 blocks of 50 NG with 1 boss and 1 shaman in each unit 2 fanatics and nets supported by 2 five man wolf units and 4 goblin war machines coomming close to comparing with half of the OFCC armies I ran into and those were supposed to be friendly. I might change my mind if the dwarf book drops in time to make it into the event.
We used the same comp score last year.
-
It's also extremely hard to get a 20+ score. If you bring a Lord level character, 1 elite unit, and a single war machine or rare choice, you'll most likely have a list below 20.
-
Ah, didn't know you weren't coming. No, no reason to send the list. You caught your own mistake.

By the way those of you using the swedish comp pdf, I believe (Iraf correct me if I'm wrong please) that you must subtract ALL the penalties for a given line:
e.g. if I have a Master on a Manticore with a Black Dragon Egg, his penalty (assuming he's my only flying character) is -14 total just for the egg:
"Black Dragon Egg -2 (-4 if mounted)(-8 if mounted on flying mount)"
Since you add them all up, it's not -8, it's -14. Right?
From the Calculating Rules on Page 5:
Whenever a composition point is followed by brackets with another composition score inside, use the value in the brackets instead of the value
outside the brackets if the conditions are met. In some cases the composition score in the brackets are listed as "additional...", in these cases,
you should add this to the composition score outside the brackets. If a composition score is not inside brackets, it is always in addition to other
applicable composition scores. If there are several brackets, use all applicable brackets.
So it would be -12 for the item that you described. **edited due to fact I just read the Dark Elves section and there are 2 applicable sections in brackets)**
Out of curiosity I rated my DE list, and it came out 23.6. Does that mean you guys would suggest making it tougher, to be able compete with the lists that will be there?
Also, again out of curiosity (as someone who used to organize tournaments and put a lot of thought into such scoring systems), why do you not incorporate the comp score into the tournament scoring? Not that I think you should, necessarily, but it seems you guys have put a nice tournament together and I'm curious about your reasoning.
Thanks,
Nathan
Two Things here. First, I don't see how you got a 23.6. That would be extremely unlikely, but I'm not saying it's impossible. I'd like you to message me your list. Not link it here please. Second, we are not the biggest fans of comp scoring. Using the Comp for army composition was mainly a way to keep lists from being over the top in regards to Death star list, all Shooting lists and broken synergy lists. Basically lists that aren't "fun" to play against. That is one thing that the Comp scoring system is very good at.
Hope that answers your questions

I've deleted all my old messages. Anyone wishing to turn there list in can either pm me with the list, or email them to:
orderoftheblacksheep@mail.com
Please note that email is mail.com and NOT gmail.com

I got a 18.8 from that list. You have a very kind list. 1 level 2 wizard (without even a dispel scroll), No BSB, nor any Eternal Warriors.
-
Hmm. Looks like my inbox is full. Ill rate that list when I get off and pm you.
-
Email me your list raindog. I'll take a look at it.
-
I may not have made my point clear enough. It's irrelevant as they are using this system to gauge the overall power level of the event and to have any outliers redo (as I understand it), not used for adding points to overall score as they do in EU/AU/NZ
Exactly. :)
-
Also the use of the comp system to rate list is by far the easiest, with no chance of a person thinking we are bias towards a certain army or person.
It also allows the players to guage their own lists. Knowing exactly how it will be rated with no surprises.
-
I think If you changed to Lore of Nurgle and took 1 Hellcannon out you would be in the positives. Make another list and email it to me. I'm sure a Throgg list will be doable.
-
It's not too tough to use. Best thing you can do is save the file as a pdf. Then you get all the tabs. Scroll down to the WoC tab and add everything that pertains to your list. Then subtract 300. Then divide by 10. A competitive list should be in the range of 0-7.
It's a combination of a lot of things with your list that make it's comp score in the negatives. The biggest root cause that I see is the Lore of Death combined with the 2 Hellcannons. the first cost 28 (40 if 3 spells of Death), and the second cost 55 (80 if 3 spells of Death). Also the levl 4 daemon Prince goes from 32 to 47 due to the Lore of Death Choice.
Another possibility is to take out the second Hellcannon. If you kept the Lore of Death and removed a single Hellcannon your comp score raises from a -11.7 to a -3.7. Almost within the range we are looking for.
Hope this helps.
-
On a side note Lustrian. Your list as is ends up being a -11.7. Even dropping down 69 points wont bring you anywhere near the positives. You'll need to rework it bud. Here is a link to our Comp system that we are using. Anyone making a list feel free to use this.

What? There is plenty of room in that big fluffy bed of yours.
That spot is always reserved for you, Big Boy.

Iraf, can I use your floor again this year?
Ya, I'll see if Paul can bring his inflatable mattress for you.

I like your Dryads. I think number four is my favorite though. Nice work!

For those of you that don't care about videos and trying to pause at certain areas to get a good view of the model, their website is pretty awesome and much more informative model wise than this video. At least that's my opinion. I'll probably end up doing this kickstarter.
Here is the website. http://www.creaturecaster.com/

We are up to 23 people. Shaping up to be an awesome event!
Plenty of room left though, and hope to see more friendly faces.
Army book not being in the opening week release.
in Fantasy Battles (9th Age, WFB, etc.)

The biggest thing I look forward to in a release is the book. I get to read it, the new fluff and the new rules. I get to see the pictures of the new models. I get to look forward to seeing those new models or the "hint" of the models that are on the horizon.
Now, I'm sure that some may not have a problem with waiting. Some might though. I obviously do. And when I have a problem with something I try to find a solution.
