  1. Looks like I was off on the base cost of the Fire Prisms. I didn't realize you were taking so many points in vehicle upgrades. Dropping the Holo-Fields from the Wave Serpents would save you 45 points... You have to jink to use them in most cases anyway. That would put you below 1k and still be a very respectable list.

  2. One of us must have our points costs mixed up. I'm going from memory, but I've made countless mechanized Eldar lists from the 6th edition codex and I'm pretty sure these costs are correct:

    Autarch w/ Fusion Gun     80

    5 Fire Dragons                 110

    2x5 Dire Avengers            130

3x Wave Serpent              390 (each has Twin-Linked Scatter Laser & Shuriken Cannon)

    2x Fire Prism                    230

    Total: 940

This leaves you with 60 points left for Holo-Fields or Spirit Stones as needed.

  3. Fuegan would definitely be fun in a team tournament like this! I like the Autarch as he is cheaper and adds to reserve rolls. If you are playing against a Drop Pod army you will want that reserve bonus.

Rather than taking 3 Fire Prisms, you could take 2 and use the remaining points for a minimum unit of Swooping Hawks? They are fantastic for late game objective capturing and contesting. They also work very well with the Autarch's reserve modifier as you can keep them back if you want.

  4. Since when couldn't wave serpents take holo fields?

Sorry, for some reason my mind wandered back to the 4th edition codex. Wave Serpents definitely can take Holo-Fields.

You can easily use a Fire Dragon Exarch as an Autarch with a Fusion Gun. The Farseer won't do much good unless it's on a Jetbike.

  5. I wouldn't look at it as 6 Fusion Blasters at 1k, but as 12 Fusion Blasters at 2k. That changes my perspective at least. I know most of my team tournament lists have included 3 Land Raiders at 2k... and I wouldn't be surprised if  Knights made an appearance.

  6. Of course!

    So looks like:

    Farseer

    Spiritseer

    2x Dire Avengers 10

2x Wave Serpents: Scatter Lasers, Shuriken Canon, Serpent Shield, & Holo Fields

    2x Fire Prisms w/Holo Fields

    Comes to a flat 1k!

I'm fairly certain that Wave Serpents can't take Holo-Fields.

Why not each take something like this:

    Autarch w/ Fusion Gun

    5 Fire Dragons

1x Wave Serpent w/ Scatter Laser & Shuriken Cannon

    2x5 Dire Avengers

2x Wave Serpent w/ Scatter Laser & Shuriken Cannon

    2x Fire Prism w/ Holo-Fields

This should be right around 1k. I don't like Farseers or Spiritseers in this list as most of their psychic powers don't do anything when inside a vehicle. The Autarch provides a 6th meltagun and a handy reserve roll bonus.

  7. I went to my first OFCC this last year, and I played against several Forge World units, Escalation units, and supplement formations - and I still had 5 ridiculously fun games. I took a single CAD from the Tyranids codex (my list was rated a 1 out of 3) and I felt like I could win every single game even though I was paired against lists rated higher than mine.

I'll be honest, OFCC 2014 was probably the best 40K tournament I've ever been to. And I've been to plenty of 40K tournaments.

As long as there is no prize for winning every game, there isn't a need to take the most overpowered list and play to win at any cost. The focus on sportsmanship allows OFCC to not have any composition rules.

I'll be taking a superheavy next year. And I'll still be shooting for the coveted 2W-2L-1D record.

  8. I'm looking for OOP Skinks with bows, including command models. I'm also interested in any other Lizardmen from this era but it's not a priority.

I have quite a large amount of stuff to trade, so let me know what you have. I'd really like to get ~30 plastic archers with a full command group.

  9. I have a Tyranid force that I am looking to trade for something new. It's mostly unpainted but primed white. Off the top of my head I have:

    Winged Hive Tyrant (plastic)

    1 Hive Guard (finecast)

    1 Zoanthrope (finecast)

    3 Raveners (plastic)

    ~24 Genestealers

    ~24 Hormagaunts

    ~24 Termagants

    many ripper swarms

    10 Gargoyles (plastic)

I know I have some other pieces but I'd have to check. Do you have any interest in trading for Skorne?

  10. Yeah, I would definitely call that a mistake on his part. Sounds like you played it solid, though, so grats on that.

It definitely was a mistake on my part. After he dropped his first wave I realized that I should not have moved so far up the board but by then it was obviously too late.

I think a Wraithknight would really help round out my list. My Farseer didn't really do anything and I could downgrade my Storm Guardians to units of 5 Dire Avengers to pay for one, I think. Having no assault units really gimped me in that match.

I'd like a rematch one of these days, WestRider :P

  11. I was the Eldar player, and my brother (Ed) was the Dark Angels player. Ed normally uses the Space Marine codex for his battle company as they are painted up as Ultramarines, but when he got around to registering the Space Marine faction had already been spoken for. So I convinced him to throw in a Banner of Devastation and call it a Dark Angels army, lol.

My game vs. WestRider was very tough. I was planning on forcing him to drop in one corner of the board then zooming away to pick him off at a distance, but he thwarted my plan and was able to get a solid victory. I know I could have played that game better if I was more aggressive but he simply outplayed me.

Maybe next year my Eldar will finally take 1st place!
