  1. I think for the first example you played it right as the models in the "rear ranks" would normally slide over to be in base contact on the flank but because the cauldron can't slide over your '1122' models aren't in contact with anything.

as for the second question I believe the answer is yes, a character model can make way to a flank or rear charge given that they are not in combat already. my understanding is they replace a rank and file model on the flank if able but would be able to move over still if one is not available (say for example you only have another character on the flank, the make way character would just move over to fight alongside the character already on the flank).

  2. this is what I'm thinking of for next year. it comps at a 19.7 using a starting value of 300 for 2800pts (but doesn't account for the Morghast Archai as they don't have a comp yet, and I'm no sure if they will even be allowed in). 19.7 is likely too soft a list so some small changes will be in order. any suggestions would be appreciated. comp values are in parenthesis.

this would be my answer to your unit. how does it fair up?

  4. pg 462 " as well as new units and game rules we have included a brand new lore of magic......... as with all things described so far, you can use the Lore of Undeath when fighting the scenarios in this book, AND ALSO IN ANY other games of warhammer that you play....... as you can see, this section represents much more than just a selection of scenarios and special rules to go with them. INSTEAD you should think of it as a toolbox, from which you can pick and choose what to use IN ANY GAMES of warhammer that you play."

I think they have made themselves fairly clear on their stance regarding End Times. freedom to choose and flexibility to play what you want to play :). additional rules to be played if you want to in conjunction with current 8th edition rules (general and army specific).

  5. given I'm not the most experienced with comp rating I believe my list came in at a healthy 15.9. (using 300 as a starting point)

I felt like it played like a 15 most of the event. the list gave up points like candy at Halloween but could also tear up a unit if I was fortunate enough to get a combo charge off.

next years list is currently looking to be a bit softer, coming in around the 18 mark. but when you field skeletons as your core it's almost inevitable. it helps knowing to stay away from the brokenness that blender lords bring :)

  6. I would like to see an "avenue of armies" type showcasing of the armies to be able to appreciate and select my favorite armies.

taking it a step farther I'd like to see some sort of master/novice categories voting dynamic. maybe a couple selections rewarding specific elements like conversion or character.

  7. it depends on if you want it as a lord or hero mount. as a hero it really needs to be a BSB to be effective. the +1 CR and then the -1 to crumble are crucial for it's ability to sustain after contact.

the 'battle of wills' is a nice little bonus feature that most often results in the opponent rerolling their successful to hits. I've had "enthralled" go off twice in the 6+ months of fielding the model. if the model is a hero, being LD 7 limits any benefit from this ability outside of the general's influence.

I've run a defensive build hero (armor of destiny) for the 4+ ward on the hero bsb. the throne is able to pump out 4 Str 5 WS 5 ASF attacks from the handmaidens and then 2d6 Str 3 WS 3 attacks from the spirit horde. combined with the attacks from the hero/lord vampire you put on top it has nice offensive capabilities, but as a 500+ point model it needs it (IMO).

the best use for this model in my experience is as a combo charge support unit issuing challenges to deal with enemy characters while the other unit works on the enemy rank and file.
