So who's ready to get back into AoS gaming? I have a full set up with multiple armies and need to meet PDX and WA players. I can host, travel, or meet at a game store ( when that's a thing) reach out and let us connect!

Where are you located?  I'm in Dallas.

I have to come to really enjoy AoS. I think it is way more fun than 40k. I'm building my 3rd and 4rth AoS armies while quarantine is going. Im really looking forward to play more of it and some warcry. Anyone who wants to play at the clubhouse, hit me up.

What factions do you play?  I have the following:

Ogre Mawtribes (originally known as BCR as it was my first AoS specific army), IRJ (from before they were cool to play), DoK, SCE, Skaven (WiP)

  3. The cool thing about this game is that not all armies are created the same.  Each army has their own specific niche and it's up to us, the players, to figure out how we want to play the army we purchase.

    Bring on the hatred...

Keep in mind that Reivers do have more mobility and deployment options than the Intercessors do. Deep strike and the grapnel hooks are really nice, and they can get to where they need to be faster, and for far fewer points, than trying to shove the Intercessors into a transport of some sort.

Reivers got a huge boost with shock assault as well.

I want to say 21 CC attacks (31 in the 1st CC round) with carbines and 31 attacks (41 in the 1st CC round).

    10 reivers w/launchers and shutes=200

5 intercessors w/ autobolt rifles and an impulsor w/shield dome=187.

They are both different roles and it depends on who charges who.

Faction Focus: Hungry Space Bugs is out today, but the real gem in the article is that they’re telling us what Dense Cover does.

I like it, I like it a lot... Although I suppose it is going to depend a lot on what counts as “Dense Cover.”

But it should make for some nice, tense, house-to-house fighting on dense Stalingrad type boards or nasty point blank shootouts on jungle boards. Gas up the flamers, ladies and gents.

I love this for trees and tree-like terrain.

There are actually a fair amount of local players that play and love AoS, but almost none of them post to the Ordo boards. There is a good group that plays weekly at Geeks and Games & Guardian Games as well. Most local players hang out and chat on Facebook messenger and Discord. I think Rose City Wrath (a local AoS a tournament) had 40 players signed up before it had to get cancelled due to Covid.  There are also local players that enjoy Warcry and Warhammer Underworlds as well. All 3 games have a decently healthy player base, no not to 40k levels but I don’t think any Wargames have that level of popularity.

The Oregon City crew (The Neverchosen) is my favorite AoS group to game with.

  7. Trying to learn wood elves while rolling all the 1's is neat.  I think I'm about 2 for 16 with leap attempts si that's cool and the treeman just gets knocked down about every 3rd block attempt and doesn't stand up for another 3-4 turns.

...What do AoS players talk about?

How to win in 2 turns.

Wouldn't it be cool if GW gave us half the time they give 40k.

Who wrote Flesh Eater Courts (FEC) and Osiarch Bone Reapers (OBR) and thought those were balanced and fun for their opponents to play against.

Actually, apply the book logic to every book that comes out.  The exception is Kharadon Overlords (KO).  Top 3 coolest looking army as well as concept, IMO, with the worst book in AoS.   Great job GW, you nailed it again.

How to play for the double turn to win in turn 2.

The terrain is awesome, and tables look much better than WFB did IMO.

We get to use the big-guys no one used.  Monsters on the battlefied are awesome.

OBR is the dumbest creation.  The models are hideous.

I don't know if the Oregon City chaps are gaming yet but that's what I'm waiting for.  The new faction of giants looks amazeballs!!!

Not much to talk about without games being played like they used to.  AoS players are hard to find.

The more I talk about AoS the more I hate AoS...

    GIVE US WFB BACK!!!!!!!!

  9. All this talk about "unstoppable" charging armies is crazy.

Have you all forgot about screens?  Poxwalkers, cultists, conscripts, grots, etc.

If you play a gunline with no screening units, that's on you.

Also, don't forget that you can shoot into combat with your "big toys" now.  If you play monster-mash or mechanized lists then your enemies better destroy whatever they touch.

Ask yourself this question.  How many times did an opponent charge something just to shut down the shooting?

Then ask the following question.  How many times will my opponent charge my monsters and/or tanks knowing i can shoot them in my shooting phase?

  10. I look forward to the changes.  It's apparent this is going to be much more mobile than we've seen.

I also believe transports are going to make a come back.

I don't think DE are out of the running as a viable army.

Terrain is going to matter and i strongly believe that armies who are more mobile and have the ability to rapidly redeploy across the battlefield are going to excell.

I say this because it looks like LoS blocking terrain is going to make game play interesting.

I'm excited to see how the game will progress.  At least GW is giving 40k much better love and support compared to AoS.

The thing that bugs me about the Primaris Tarantula, or whatever they’re going to call that weapons platform, is that it doesn’t appear capable of elevating or depressing the guns...

It's the 41st mil.  Heat seaker rounds...

I just think it's a cool concept.  Let's be real here, i play BA and if we don't get a thunderfire cannon then i doubt we get one of those.

This is ugly, and looks like an ork buggy, or mario cart ride.

I'll take 2 of these ugly creatures and play 'love me sexy' while i move them ob the battlefield.

I like the look of the moon-buggy

They literally subtitled a huge section of the article “The Danger Zone,” made another reference to the song in the article’s text, and they quoted Maverick in the caption for one picture.

I mean... Did you need to see Roboute Guilliman playing guitar for a Kenny Logins cover?

That's funny, Archer immediately came to mind.

Eliminating the -1 to hit for heavy weapons on vehicles? Oh, thank you GW! Now my Land Speeders might not be useless again! And mech guard suddenly got a lot more dangerous, too. Actually, pretty much all transports with heavy weapons became nastier.

I'm glad to see this change.  I can pull my assault cannon dreads off the shelf now.  Their drop pods miss them.
