  1. Unfotenaly Mawlocs are terrable at killing tanks even rhinos. 5 man squads are not to bad but with 3 attacks and ws 3 they are not all that killey when you need them to be. The carafex, mawloc, and a couple more MC need to have one more attack and WS in my mind. It should be interesting to see which way to go. With the how the mission are set up a 3rd mawloc is a no go because I need a fast attack slot that is hard to kill to keep from giving free points away. The crone is decent vs eldar bikes as it can move just as fast and can hit most of the unit. lol and it stands a good chance at hurting the wraith knight for giggles with vector-strike. Wish we still had d3+1 vs ground units. You would see crones in every list as a count to WK. lol GW missed the ball on that one.
  2. I have played this list in the past and it can be very brutal. The crone is their more for Crons and if there is a flyier I can have the flyrants go after something else. I am not a fan of Mawloc personal. Yes they are the cheapest MC in our book. But they are just bad in my eye as they are random in their out put. They are either great or nothing. But they keep people honest. I have to pray for luck with the wraith knight honestly. Mass fire power and bad rolls is my only hope. LOL I won last year with Tyranids with a solid ground force. Dealing with the dreaded Necron MSS lords on a barge, I got lucky and someone killed the Wave Serpent Spam Eldar before I had to face Him. I faced Crons in the First round and pulled out a win by 1 point. Tyranids can have good ground forces. People just play5 tyrants not thinking how to use anything else. In Portland Guarden games InControl only went 3-2 with a list. I ran a list with Ground and still went 3-2 as well. In that tournament InControl and a Cron player where my bane. If I had the models I think I would try a Hoard style army as the Wriath Knight is not such a issue with that type of army. Here's the list I won last year with. http://www.40kambassadors.com/files/2014/Tyranids.pdf It was not optimal but it worked really well. That is a interesting option I have not played with Him in a long time. It would be fun that's for sure.
  3. I would run more spores if I had them. I am not a fan of the mawloc as I never hit with it. as for Stomping it.. It can do that very wel , when it all comes in together. I love playing VS white scars with this as I can pick how and what I hit killing the grav or other threats. I just think it would have some issues with the first mission and maybe the last one. I think a balanced mix of attack of ground and air is the way to go.
  4. They can use everything now. That was last addition I believe where they couldn't. Every tournament I have been going to has allowed it with no question.
  5. I have to turn in my final list on the 19th of Sept. I have 4 list that I need some help pairing down. I do have a test tournament on the 19th as well so please let me know which you like. Warning this is a wall of text ::) . Sorry for this. I normally get this down two just 2 list, but School and family have left me a little behind. I have been working on 4 list for a tournament. If you like you can see the rules below. Also if your in the area there are a few armies still available if you want to join. The rule info for the tournament can be found here: www.40kambassadors.com/rules.php The missions are unique and the are found here: www.40kambassadors.com/missions.php List one is what I think is the one most people would go with as it has most of the popular models in it. I will not do more then 3 Flyrants. So this is a list designed to have mass fire power. It is a null reserve style list For Tyranids. This list has 64 twin-linked devourers in and all can be placed where you want it to be for the most part. It has good anti air with the extra crone in it. With the comes relay it should be able to handle most issues with reliable reserve rolls. Downside no 2+ cover saves if starting on the table. List One: ++ Tyranids: Codex (2014) (Combined Arms Detachment) ++ Tyrannocyte [5x Deathspitters] Tyrannocyte [5x Deathspitters] Tyrannocyte [5x Deathspitters] Hive Tyrant [Electroshock Grubs, Twin-linked Devourer with Brainleech Worms, Twin-linked Devourer with Brainleech Worms, Wings] Hive Tyrant [Electroshock Grubs, Twin-linked Devourer with Brainleech Worms, Twin-linked Devourer with Brainleech Worms, Wings] Mucolid Spore Cluster [Mucolid Spore] Mucolid Spore Cluster [Mucolid Spore] Spore Mine Cluster [5x Spore Mine] Carnifex Brood Carnifex [Twin-linked Devourer with Brainleech Worms, Twin-linked Devourer with Brainleech Worms] Carnifex Brood Carnifex [Twin-linked Devourer with Brainleech Worms, Twin-linked Devourer with Brainleech Worms] Carnifex Brood Carnifex [Twin-linked Devourer with Brainleech Worms, Twin-linked Devourer with Brainleech Worms] + Fortification Aegis Defense Line [Comms Relay] ++ Tyranids: Codex (2014) (Combined Arms Detachment) ++ Hive Tyrant [Electroshock Grubs, Twin-linked Devourer with Brainleech Worms, Twin-linked Devourer with Brainleech Worms, Wings] Mucolid Spore Cluster [Mucolid Spore] Mucolid Spore Cluster [Mucolid Spore] Hive Crone [Cluster Spines] Mawloc Mawloc List two is more of a showcase of the Army book. Id does have the most scoring units with 13. It will give me the option to start everything on the table with 4- to a 2+ cover saves. I can also Null deploy with the list as well. If I do this I can still Defend objectives or block them off with the spore-field formation units. List two: ++ Tyranids: Codex (2014) (Combined Arms Detachment) + Tyrannocyte [5x Deathspitters] Tyrannocyte [5x Deathspitters] Hive Tyrant [Electroshock Grubs, Twin-linked Devourer with Brainleech Worms, Twin-linked Devourer with Brainleech Worms, Wings] Hive Tyrant [Electroshock Grubs, Twin-linked Devourer with Brainleech Worms, Twin-linked Devourer with Brainleech Worms, Wings] Haruspex [Adrenal Glands, Toxin Sacs] Venomthrope Zoanthrope Mucolid Spore Cluster [Mucolid Spore] Ripper Swarm Brood 3x Ripper Swarm [3x Deep Strike] Carnifex [Twin-linked Devourer with Brainleech Worms, Twin-linked Devourer with Brainleech Worms] Carnifex [Twin-linked Devourer with Brainleech Worms, Twin-linked Devourer with Brainleech Worms] Toxicrene + Fortification + Aegis Defense Line [Comms Relay] + Formation Sporefield Mucolid Spore Cluster [Mucolid Spore] Mucolid Spore Cluster [Mucolid Spore] Mucolid Spore Cluster [Mucolid Spore] Spore Mine Cluster [6x Spore Mine] Spore Mine Cluster [3x Spore Mine] Spore Mine Cluster [3x Spore Mine] + Tyranids: Codex (2014) (Alied Arms Detachment) ++ Hive Tyrant [Electroshock Grubs, Twin-linked Devourer with Brainleech Worms, Twin-linked Devourer with Brainleech Worms, Wings] Mucolid Spore Mawloc While similar to list 2 this list has a fast response unit in the shrikes and the are kind of a counter Centurion unit as firing at them only wounds on a 5. They are all so good at dealing with unit coming out of drop pods. The shrikes and the Tox gives me two unit that can hurt a wraith Knight if he get close.( I know they are not the best unit but it still can hurt it.) List 3: ++ Tyranids: Codex (2014) (Combined Arms Detachment) ++ Tyrannocyte [5x Deathspitters] Hive Tyrant [Electroshock Grubs, Twin-linked Devourer with Brainleech Worms, Twin-linked Devourer with Brainleech Worms, Wings] Hive Tyrant [Electroshock Grubs, Twin-linked Devourer with Brainleech Worms, Twin-linked Devourer with Brainleech Worms, Wings] Haruspex (Adrenal Glands) Venomthrope Mucolid Spore Cluster Mucolid Spore Cluster [3x Spore Mine] [3x Spore Mine] Tyranid Shrike Brood Tyranid Shrike [Adrenal Glands, Devourer, Flesh Hooks, Lashwhip & Boneswords, Toxin Sacs] Tyranid Shrike [Adrenal Glands, Devourer, Flesh Hooks, Rending Claws, Toxin Sacs] Tyranid Shrike [Adrenal Glands, Devourer, Flesh Hooks, Rending Claws, Toxin Sacs] Tyranid Shrike [Adrenal Glands, Devourer, Flesh Hooks, Rending Claws, Toxin Sacs] Tyranid Shrike [Adrenal Glands, Devourer, Flesh Hooks, Lashwhip & Boneswords, Toxin Sacs] Carnifex [Twin-linked Devourer with Brainleech Worms, Twin-linked Devourer with Brainleech Worms]Mawloc Toxicrene Fortification + Aegis Defense Line [Comms Relay] ++ Tyranids: Codex (2014) (Allied Detachment) ++ Hive Tyrant [Twin-linked Devourer with Brainleech Worms, Twin-linked Devourer with Brainleech Worms, Wings] Mucolid Spore Mawloc List 4 Is defensive with a solid back field and limited offense. This won last year but was looking at how thing have changed I am not sure who it will work now. It is a single Cad. With two venoms it can deploy in to different locations if needed. (Second Mission this could be useful.) ++ Tyranids: Codex (2014) (Combined Arms Detachment) ++ Tyrannocyte [5x Deathspitters] Hive Tyrant [Electroshock Grubs, Twin-linked Devourer with Brainleech Worms, Twin-linked Devourer with Brainleech Worms, Wings] Hive Tyrant [Electroshock Grubs, Twin-linked Devourer with Brainleech Worms, Twin-linked Devourer with Brainleech Worms, Wings] Hive Guard [impaler Cannon] Hive Guard [impaler Cannon] Hive Guard [impaler Cannon] Venomthrope Venomthrope Termagant Brood for Trevion [20x Fleshborer Termagant] 10x Devourer Termagant [10x Devourer] Tervigon [Crushing Claws, Electroshock Grubs, Stinger Salvo] Hive Crone [3x Spore Mine] Tyranid Shrike Brood Tyranid Shrike [Adrenal Glands, Devourer, Flesh Hooks, Rending Claws, Toxin Sacs] Tyranid Shrike [Adrenal Glands, Devourer, Flesh Hooks, Lashwhip & Boneswords, Toxin Sacs] Tyranid Shrike [Adrenal Glands, Devourer, Flesh Hooks, Rending Claws, Toxin Sacs] Tyranid Shrike [Adrenal Glands, Devourer, Flesh Hooks, Rending Claws, Toxin Sacs] Tyranid Shrike [Adrenal Glands, Devourer, Flesh Hooks, Lashwhip & Boneswords, Toxin Sacs] Carnifex [Adrenal Glands, Spine Banks, Twin-linked Devourer with Brainleech Worms, Twin-linked Devourer with Brainleech Worms] Mawloc + Fortification + Aegis Defense Line [Comms Relay] Please post comments on which list you feel would be good or better. Any thought on any of the list would appreciated.. Please post a different list you feel would work better if you like.
  6. I am looking to get some 2000 point pratice games at the game matrix in tacoma Friday night. This practice for the tournament on the 19th in Tacoma. I can start play around 4:30PM If intrested leave a message.
  7. I am signing up tomrrow for this. Was wondering who else was going?
  8. So you have two single units with one non-deep-strike and one with. One of the two has the deepstrike acting for that turn. How I understand the rule book. If any unit coming in from reserves or deep-strike Normally it can't charge. It doesn't matter if you join it or not with a IC that was already on the board. You have to follow the rule for both unit. If the IC has a rule that allows it to attack after coming in from reserve some how then it would be able to attack with the other IC that's on the board.
  9. I am not trying to argue or be disrespectful. just trying to understand where you are going with this. I didn't think you where trying to have a devious idea or something like that. the formations rule says you pick which turn it automatically comes in on turn one or two. Any IC that Joins would have to have a similar rule to allow you too pick when you would come in They rule::: First the Fire, then the Blade: On the turn they arrive from Deep Strike reserve, the Devestator Squads in this Formation have the Relentless special rule and the Assault Squads can charge even though they arrived from Reserves that turn. A IC would have to have that rule to be able to assault the turn it comes in. The rule First the Fire, then the Blade is not like stealth which is conveyed to who ever joins it. It is like sterngaurd ammo. A IC doesn't get the ammo just because he has a bolter that can shoot it. He has to have the Rule allowing him to have it. With out the rule First to fire, Then the Blade he can't attack out of deep-strike. If you have the link to the thread you are talking about I enjoy reading it.
  10. I see where your coming from on this. I would still look at the rule the IC has. If his rule allows him to pick when he comes in good if not he can't join. The formation doesn't have a HQ option for you to add to it. The formation has set rules that limit the option yu may take. Any thing you add to it would not get the same rules as it does not have it in its own set of rules. Normal rules for coming in from revere would apply to any model yu add to the unit as that model has to follow the rules it governed bye. You don't get to mix and match The formation rules are very specific that said models are allowed to assault. If the unit has a added IC he is not one of the said models so the unit would not be able to attack.. I understand why you like it to be.
  11. If he doesn't have the rule for the formation I would say no. But it is a good question. The IC would have to be able to pick when it comes in just like the Formation can. Since the drop pods don't count for or toward the drop pod assault rule there is no way a IC would have the same rule even to join, let alone assault with the unit. The krone formation with the drop pod that allows them to assault when they come in. That one need to be cleared up as well. 20 Berserkers assaulting when they come in is very nice as well... That one may be forge world not sure. So it may not apply..
  12. lol Perfecatl well done juice steak is the best. Slitly burt on the edges. Taste. Muti-multivitamin steak are what BA and dark Eldar like. They are just to impatient wait for perfection As for my fault...I like when my steaks come to m :)
  13. Thanks for fielding all these questions. Will you be posting a FAQ for th tournament or will you handle them as or if they come up? AbusePuppy are you playing in the tournament? If you are what are you playing?
  14. It would be great to see another Tyranid army in the ofther bracket Go or it. That would mean You would have to breing more steak to keep the other ambassadors alive though. Just sayying
  15. This is going to be fun. Wonder what westrider is going to bring with 150 more points. HEHE
  16. Ah thanks for the army list info. Now about the t-cyte ????
  17. Was wondering if if we where going to use the new format for army list they just did last week?? They are allowing double cad? was wondering if you where going to allow it at this tournament? Also Can my tyranid spore pods use the raw rules?? Since they changed that rule back to the raw rules. I like to see if it would make a big change in the effectiveness of the unit.
  18. Will be signing up in the next day or so. And prize support is always nice
  19. For my steaks I prefer Buffalo over Beef (It slides down easier.) and well done as I don't like the sight of blood
  20. For the tournament I would like to now. 1: Is inviiableiy going to be changed from the book 2: Are re-rollable 2+ saves going to be allowed or is it going to be 2+ than a 4+ like the ITC. 3: Are we allowing D weapons at full streaght for ranged and CC. 4: Are the steaks you are feeding me to keep me from eating the other ambassadors well done cause I hate the site of blood
  21. So we have ork or a guard player. Interesting. Both races have many options to bring to the table. We can't have both or does that mess up the parings? Is the Eldar player the guy at the last tournament in OCC. If so that's going to be a great battle. Anyone we know playing Crons? So many unknowns so much fun. I am still chewing on the message I received. As for not eating anyone at the tournament, I can't make any promises if the Eldar race's get to close as they are very tasty. Some even come with tooth picks.
  22. Their is a new poll up for people that play the ITC league. http://www.frontlinegaming.org/ The are addressing how to build armies to reversing some rule changes. Big one for me is the Tyranids drop pod. Getting to play the rules as written, like a MC and not with a 45% hull mounted like a tank. It doesn't have a armor value so it shouldn't act like it. Other then that they are looking at D weapons and fixing ravenwing HQ issues possibly.
  23. Thanks for running this tournament again this year, It was a blast last time. It is really cool seeing Nicely painted whole armies from each codex. it is also a pleasure to play a different army every round. I posted on warsounder about this but Thought I would cover my bases as things can be easily missed. Was wanting to know the ruling on the gaunts spawned by the tervagon. their rules say they are the same any gaunt in the army. So does that mean they are OS as well? Also the Tyrannocyte I like to get a ruling on. The ruling on this will dictate how I use them big time. Hears some thought from a earlier post. The rule is Instinctive Fire, on a Tyrannocyte... Instinctive Fire: "Each weapon on this model automatically fires at the nearest enemy unit within range and line of sight. The shots are resolved at the end of the Shooting phase before Morale checks are taken. Each weapon can fire at a different target unit, but they cannot be fired in any other way or at any other time." -These shots are "compulsory" -They are after you have fired everything else Emphasis of the last part: -They cannot fire Overwatch So Each weapon on this model automatically fires at the nearest enemy unit within range and line of sight". Line of sight and range are measured from the base of Monstrous creatures, not the weapons. As written, the last line about being able to fire at separate targets would only come in to play if two or more units were equidistant from the Tyrannocyte. If these were hull mounted weapons, they would have a firing arc and only be able to fire in that arc. They are not specified as so, and therefore will again follow the normal rules for MCs and therefore have a 360 degree firing arc. RaW: Yes, all 5 weapons can fire at the closest Unit. MC have no arc or issues with LoS through themselves. Fluff: The model is made to look like it would fire in all directions, so firing through itself would be strange indeed. But that's not the rules unfortunately, so most players would go by RaW. As you can see their are a few ways to look at it. The big tournament can't even agree on it. The only thing they all agree on is, that it is written poorly. The ETC Rules it this way: Because of Instinctive Fire, a Tyrannocyte will fire all of its guns at the closest target. Measure range to and from the MC's base to find out which model or unit will be the target of the shooting attack. The ITC rules it this way: ( The worst ruling I have personally seen, I feel.) Treat the five weapons on a Tyrannocyte/Sporocyst as if they are hull mounted weapons on a vehicle (i.e. they have a 45 degree firing arc). I normally play it between the rules above. As the rule states you shoot the closest units to the guns. While letting the unit Use it's MC rules as well. Example is if I have 3 units around the Tyrannocyte. Two are 3' away and the third is 5 inches away I would split the guns between the two units that are 3' away. 2nd example: if only one unit is next to the Tyrannocyte all 5 guns fire at the one unit. I normally talk the rule over with who ever I play with to see what they think before starting. Knowing the answer to this will allow me to decide how to use this unit best. Thanks for you time at looking at this.
  24. I have played at a few tournament he has ran. The low is allowed if it is in your codex for the most part. The last tournament at OCC all the ITC was allowed. As for d weapon treated at normal. That is normal covered at the tournament to see what is preferred by the attendees. It hasn't been a problem from what I have seen.. With a new store and stuff it should be fun I am looking forward to going to this place. I play Tyranids so it is not a big issue. The ITC FAQ is ok but they have some big head scratching rules as well.
