  1. I have been thinking about the new powers and how to use them in my list. While some are very good you need to put a sizable point investment to make it work. Then you have to roll for them and even with some of the formation you can still get unlucky and not get it. I was looking at the swap unit power and was like that is cool. Lets get that in my list. I started to look at my list and thought do I really need that power. There are ways to get the unit where I want them when I want them with out having to rely on random events. The only down side I see it the option of the power filling holes in my army by adjusting them to my opponent. I could take add 2 drop pods and get the same result of overwhelming my opponents deployment zone with hard to kill units that would assult next turn. With the rest of my army assaulting turn one or turn two as well. By dropping the Psykers down to 1 bare bones with a hood. I picked up a formation that makes the thunderwolf cav even faster. I was also able to out fit the wolfen with a extra shield. Getting a 4 wound tank lord and 5 extra bodys in the gray hunter is the tax. Or does having the flexabilty to adapt a unit powers to face a diffrent army every round worth it?? One is a solid it works like this list. There is something to keeping it Simple. Like the above. The other makes you think more and have to adapt if thing don't go your way. Also if it does go your way it can make things easyier. Is the randomness worth it??
  2. Turn one if the opponent deploys badly or the wolfen roll is well. Gun lines with hammer and anvil is the worst match up. Otherwise I have a 66% chance it giving me some type of movement bonus. I am still trying to get the balance with the deathpack it is hands down the fastest option with the wolfen. I will have to revisit it with the second list to see if I can make it work...
  3. I am taking one of these list to a tournament this coming weekend. The are very similar but I can't pick between then at the moment. I would love to have some thoughts on these. The first one is focused on getting powers being a x factor as I don't know what I will get. But it also allows me to tailor the list a little each round with all the new power we just got. I really like the Librarius and fulmnation powers for this list.   4. I just played a tournament and tried out a few of the powers. Librais is nice vs deamon. Getting the -2 to invul was really good. Filmation is real useful for board control. If you get the swappingpower make sure you can make the charge as it sucks when you fail. Looking forward to using this foucs a lot. I only tried these two focus. They seamed to work well with a sold assault unit.
  5. With 6 to 8 tries I should get something useful. With the wolfen formation movement tricks I think I can put 2 to 3 lvl 2 guys. I with three I think I can swap between these new powers to handle the holes in my list vs a few armies. Tecno for anti tank. Libby for null vs heavy 3++ Daemons and other inv armies. Fulti. For my list seams to have the lest bad options for rolling, with only one I don't really want and even then it is useful. I don't like geo personally. But it has some messed up stuff in it. That and the warp charges for casting are all wrong. Moving terrain around should be at lest a 3 to a 4. and ignore line of sight and cover should be a 2 at lest if not a 3. that power gives the Tyranid Hive Guard power to any unit. I mean marines didn't need one more way to ignore cover. With that power they don't even need to have gate anymore on devastators. the can walk and turn one hit almost any place they wish turn one in dawn of war.
  6. One other question. The wolves Libby formation ‘can't remember the name at the moment’. If you take say the new powers that just came out you still get the formation power as well right? Also would it mess up the spell focus or not?
  7. I have been doing the same thing. but was thinking that the IC from the Deathpack would be able to join as he has a simualer rule...?he even has a reroll ablity for the charge .. fleet.. like th wolfen as well
  8. I am not sure about the interaction of IC with the run and charge moves these units have. I am looking at this from the ITC rule’s for playing tournaments. I am not clear on how it works. I have read the BRB and I am not real clear on it. I play Tyranids mainly so I don’t have a lot of experience with IC. The death pack gets the run and charge rule from the lord every turn. It is one of two rules he can give the unit if he is within 12 inches. The wolfen have the run and charge rule innately as part of their rules for the unit. My question is “If an IC joins either unit does the unit lose the run and charge as the IC doesn’t have the rule?” My view /understanding. The deathpack unit would as the Lord gives it too the unit at the start of the phase. The Wolfen would lose it as the IC doesn’t have the bounding leep rule allowing it to run and charge. I have been told it is the opposite though with the ITC, so I am now not sure. Please help and Thanks
  9. Blood angle Libby Dred. with techno power will be interesting. Also units of death company getting across the board is going to be scary. Assault units just became really good. Switching a unit like 10 wolfen over that can run and combo charge...With the blackmane formation a large part of the army will be charging turn 1 with counter charge. it could be very nasty indeed.

  11. The powers are good. I think the Fumination is well balanced kind of a TAC power. Swapping a drop pod for a asslt unit will be fun. Also the techno powers will be great with a Knight can you see a armor 14 or 15 Knight walking around. Even normal walkers can become scary fast. With VSG having. A 15 av or Greater land raider.is really nice. Great options. For space wolves i am looking at fun here for sure.

  14. Hi everyone. I'm looking to test out a few list to prep for the Spokane's Magor tournament that's less then a month away. I live in Lakewood and work in Fife so I can get most places in the south sound up to sea TAC area if need be. I can play after 12 noon Thursday, Friday, or Saturday entell the tournament on the 23rd of April. Looking to play 1850 ITC mission with the relic mission being custom. With santic or Biomance I should get the offensive or defensive buffs needto make the units hit hard or faster. With the unit being in the the great wolf formation I will have some thunderwolves are ws 5 which will make that unit a lot more deadly. I do worry that I have to many point in to the wolfen. What you think??

  17. I had not seen that post. Interestingly what would you do if you just stayed with SW? How is the DP andMp coming to 1400 ish points? What efficiencies are you talking about or are sugesting? Was wondering just how survivable the wolfin are with h\s if all 5guys had them. The load out on the wolfin i am working on. Thought on this??
  18. Warring this is A Castle of Text. I have a couple of ways to field the New Wolves. I just can't seam to pick one so I am asking for some thoughts on 3 list I am thinking of running. Comments on these are wanted. Preface I don't normally play Imperial armies. I am a Tyranid player. With that in mind my ideas may not be good in a competitive field. Please let me know. It uses a death Pack formation to get the best range for it's buck. With run and charge I feel it gets the best use of the double movement and the +3 inches of movement. If it happens, great if not will it wasn't needed. The drop pod is to get that one maelstrom point of being in the other guys deployment. It can take the lone wolf or the wolfin depending on the mission. With both types of priest I get a fearless turn two attacking unit with a chance at powers that can help the advance unit. One question if I join IC to the Death-pack thunderwolves. Can they still run and charge? The lord of the formation gives the unit the means to run and charge every turn. the unit doesn't the rule to do so natively. Just checking, as I don't want to cheat someone.
  19. I am thinking of adding a IK to a space wolf list. I know I could get more thunder-wolf cav or wolfin for the price. I already have some in my list and wanted to do a different unit as well. Just kind of debating if I want to go that route or not. Of all the Imperial knight I have looked at I am liking the base Warden and the Mechanicum Cerastus Knight-Atrapos. Both seam good to me. The warden I can by today and it is a lot cheaper point wise in the game. The other one I would have to order and I really like the rules. Not sure where to find them in hard copy. But from what I have seen they are nice. What IK would you put in to a army with two good size thunder-wolf unit as a added threat unit. The goal is to have turn one charge or turn two at the latest. I have never played Space-wolves or any marines for that matter. Or IK.. SO please any thoughts would be cool.
  20. I know this I play exclusively Tyranids at tournaments tell just recently. Thanks, I was thinking it was that way. That makes him a lot more useful. He has a rending Bonesword which makes it way better then the warriors or warrior prime gets. Lends me hope fore the new dex.
  21. Quick question.. If a model has the rending rule, and he has a bonesword which is ap3. On a 6 does he ignore ap2 armor.??? The weapon does not have it but the model hasas a spiecal rule. The fighter HQ doesn't have rending claws, but he does have the rending rule and a bonesword. So I was wondering. Does rending apply to the shotting as well? Sorry on pain meds and can't locate in the BRB..
