Who's complaining or wallowing? Your counter point to previous not spending of money was that in the future it will be free. Your point failed. I was bringing that to your attention.

Regardless, the codex and core rule books have been free for years.

How did my point fail? GW announced the Core Rules would be free. I stated that the Core Rules would be free. So....... yeah........

Going to be free doesn't mean [big bad swear word] in relation to before being free.  Just sayin.

Sure thing dude. I don't see the benefit to wallowing in your pessimism, but you can keep doing that. Me? I'm going to continue enjoying the game and my Space Marines all day, every day. So keep complaining duderinos, I'm going to be fine either way. :D

Those are from the stated humble bundles which I bought when I had a lot more disposable income and only wanted about 3 of the 10+ games. Everything I have purchased direct from Steam I have at least put in an hour or so on.

And at $34/year that is not even one codex. That is not even a squad of anything. Sure let me not buy anything on steam for 2 YEARS to get ONE CODEX. Never mind the models I need to play.

When the codexes were soft bound and $20ish to $30ish I could afford it for more than just my army. My disposable income however has not kept up with the price increases from GW. Then them changing editions quickly making at $70 rule book and a $60 codex useless when I can get out to play once a month at best... it was time for a break and I have been playing since Rogue Trader.

Fair enough. However, the new codexes being printed (AM, DA, CSM, and supplements) have all been soft covers between $30 - $40. Additionally, the core rules are going to be free.

    37 Games not played

So this tells me you that you could easily afford a new codex. Since you could easily skip a bunch a steam sales, and humble bundles without sacrificing your video game hobby. I mean, all you would have to do is play the games you already own but haven't gotten around to playing yet.

    Steam sales are my life.

Well, think how many games you buy during a Steam sale. If it is more than $50 of Steam games, that means you skip a single Steam sale and you're set for your army. And I'm pretty sure you have sunk a lot a money into your model collection ( I know I have.).

I mean, I guess it all comes down to priorities.

    Boo!

So I have all the Eldar codecs so you can throw them out the door... Perfect :(

Don't worry. As was pointed out, your collection will still be valid and there is be a new faction book dropping for you. So buck up chum! :D

Oh, I wouldn't want them to be a regular feature of the game*, but a special mission where one or two vehicles played a part might be fun... For example, one player ambushing a Chimera/Rhino/Falcon/Devilfish that is carrying a key V.I.P. that the other player needs to escort...

...or maybe recreating the iconic Kelly's Heroes versus Tiger tank scene with a Predator.

    * Unless we get Gorkamorka back!

Actually that would be pretty awesome. Since I haven't looked at the rules for Gorkamorka, are they very different from Shadow War? I also know that there was a lot of fan supported content for Necromunda online; are there rules for vehicles within those rules? If so, then we might be able to just port them in for special missions.

  8. What have a recently read? Well I bought into the Horus Heresy Humble Bundle, so I finished reading Fulgrim and Descent of Angels pretty quickly. I have to admit, having the HH books on my Kindle is really nice. Although currently I am reading The City and the Stars by Arthur C. Clarke. So far it has been interesting. I am kind of digging some of the old timey sci-fi concepts being explored.

  9. Personally I would vote for just allowing people to run their old gangs in the new system. If they have weapons in their inventory that have a points value in both games, then just use the points from the new game. For weapons that might only exist in the old game, then use the entry for the old game. I don't think it would break the game.

Ok newb question, WoW stands for... (assume a game store)? Just gotten into the this stuff, been to GG and Red Castle.

Also how flexible are the days for games? Wednesday night thru Saturday day are best times for me usually. (Work the other days)

Although I don't think you are required to play league games there. As long as there is plenty of terrain to fit onto a tiny table you should be able to play a game. :D

Having played Necromunda, WYSWYG is huge in the culture. Being that SW:A is a necromunda spin off it makes sense to follow the culture requirement. It's like playing blood bowl, you wouldn't field orks as elves. That said, a Necron player can literally make a team with 1 box of immortals. Sure some races may require more to get the right weapons, but that's the key here. Again, the statement is that you have such a small model commitment, you can easily get bits, magnets, or additional models. The main requirement is because this is expected of all necromunda players since the beginning of time.

That is fine. Like I said, I will comply with the requirement. I am just a fan. Nor will I likely become a fan in the future.

Le sigh. Screen shot with no text. I still stand by my statement.

Including WYSIWYG in the rules is an effort to sell more models. Which is fine. But I don't think it adds anything to the game. Nor does in make the event more inclusive. What if a player wanted to bust out their old hive gang from Necromunda using the Genestealer rules? I think that would be awesome, especially from a narrative standpoint. But using WYSIWYG, they can't. So... you know... less awesome.

But as I mentioned before, I am not running the event. So I will comply with WYSIWYG. I am just noting that I am not a fan, and why I am not a fan.

  13. 16 minutes ago, Weav said:

Thank you. WYSIWYG is really simple in such a small game. You could paint fifteen models and never have to cut anything up.

I understand the your point. However, I think the point being raised was that sometimes someone has a faction that can play, but the models in their collection are not appropriately equipped. And rather than going out and purchasing additional models, someone might like to play with the models that they already own. And while there is some idea that a tricky player could pretend to have equipment for their unit model that they don't have the points for, this is defeated by simply referring to the Kill Team roster.

Because, just speaking for myself of course, if I didn't already have the models in my collection, or were required to buy more models in order to be WYSIWYG... I wouldn't play. The hobby is already expensive enough as it is, I don't see the need to arbitrarily make it more expensive in order to play the game at a smaller scale. That just seems silly to me.

However, I am not running the event and so it is not my decision. And I do look forward to participating. :D

Or you replace the model with one correctly equipped.  Teams can be as small as 3 dudes.  This is not an onerous requirement.  It promotes painting and hobbying over the course of the entire campaign, and prevents people from saying late in the campaign "that tyranid warrior actually has a venom cannon."

Um, wouldn't that be solved by looking at the Kill Team Roster?
