  1. If you are looking for missions to run on league nights, I would suggest the Altar of War book over the ITC stuff. ITC is geared towards competitive play. And while that isn't a bad thing, I think it is safe to say GG has that scene on lock down. There is no point trying to pry those players from the tables there.

However, that does mean if you are a creative sort of person you might be able to entice some players to show up with some more narrative based missions and campaigns.

    Just a thought.

Isn't that what the Index are for, to supply you with the points? You'll have to forgive me, as I didn't get into AoS, but I thought the core rules were the same, and the General's Handbook simply introduced points for everything, isn't that what we're looking at with the rules vs the Indices? Or am I way off here?

The General's Handbook had points, but it didn't have unit profiles. Maybe the faction books will have both. I don't know.

  3. Based on what has been released, I think Kerrigan is right: the free rules will get you playing games using the power point system. If you want "matched play" (points), you are going to need the BRB. Additionally, it looks like the BRB will also include rules for Cities of Death and Stronghold Assault. This leads me to believe that we will also see Planetstrike and Death in the Skies rules in the BRB as well.

  4. I have been super excited by the new edition. However, I don't know how to feel about this. On one hand, True Scale Space Marines?(!) That is something I have wanted for quite a while. But on the other hand, Uber Spesh Muhreens?(!) I don't know......

I think I am going to have to mull this one over.

I'm torn on this. I don't find it fluffy, but the change isn't about fluff. It's about balance in competitive scene. Causual and Narrative gaming has allowances for an unending hoarde coming through a Demonic breach if I'm wanting that sort if endless tide. Of course assuming there aren't detachments that grant without number.

Well, depending on the player and the scenario we would be running, I would allow for unlimited summoning. However, I can see writing the base rules in a way that doesn't allow for it. Otherwise, that guy comes around and ruins it for everyone.

    I HATE that guy.

I'm loving this, but trying to plan a tournament at the end of June has me stressed. We're running 8th even if it comes out the week beforehand, cause no one wants 7th.

You could push the date back. Maybe?

The point levels are where this edition lives or dies.

I wouldn't go that far. I think it is where tournament players will live or die. I think casual players will make due with a simplified points system just fine. :D

Well... I don't know about that. It depends on the powers in their bubbles.

If Azrael still gives a 6" 4++ bubble and you put him next to 60 wolves, and you can still cast invisibility on them and the TWC lord can Heroic over when they charge/get charged, you get effectively the same thing without the Star appellation.

They will most likely have different keywords.

  9. I am really enjoying this change. Even though I have fielded plenty of formations, I know that a lot of people have been annoyed by them. I think this is going to put a lot of armies on equal footing and is going to be a positive change for the game, and the community. :D
